What next for Mourinho?

Once again, he'll be plotting to 'prove his critics wrong'; this is what, increasingly, fuels him. Imagine living your life reacting to the approval or disapproval of others...especially those you have little respect for anyway. Virtually everything in Mourinho's career comes from a negative place.
Didn't prove anything to his critics after the Madrid and Chelsea fiasco, he vindicated them instead. He should look for an easy job where he'd have no pressure of competing with better managers than him. He's finished at high level I think.

Wherever he goes, he should be smart enough now to resign after 2 years on a high, rather than get sacked in the 3rd year for an abysmal job.

He will never be a dynasty builder, and he should accept that. He's the quick fix guy.

He's the gun-for-hire who shoots himself in the foot.

And what are your reasons for wanting to manage this club?
Jose's Brain: Don't say revenge! Don't say revenge!
Jose: Uh, revenge?
Jose's Brain: That's it, I'm gettin' outta here.
Welcome aboard, Mr Mourinho!

He should take some time off, get some inspiration, and try and reinvent himself a little.

If that was the case he should have done it here itself. He ain't going to do that now. I only see inter as his option as they have players he likes. Icardi, srikinar, perisic, brozovic all suit his style.

He is definitely too good for Benfica. He will have lots of offers from much bigger clubs I am sure.
That list isn't very long. His problem isn't just that he pisses off his old clubs, it's also that he pisses off their direct rivals with his antics. Juventus, Bacerlona, Liverpool, City couldn't consider him even if they wanted to overlook the ugly football.

Well yeah he obviously won't get a top top job like Barca, Juve etc. in the near future but I am sure that most clubs a tier below would be glad to have him. Even something like Atletico would probably suit him. Very well defensively drilled team which is used playing even more defensive style of football. There were rumours of Simeone leaving and I think Jose wouldn't be the worst replacement in the world as his tactics and approach suits underdogs.

He should wait for the Real Madrid job.

If he fancies a challenge, he should take on a “smaller” team with money. Someone like Wolves or Monaco.

Inter and PSG would also be interested I’m sure.

What I DON’T want to see is him take a step down and manage some Portuguese or Turkey team. He’s better than that.

I reckon if PSG don't progress to at least semi finals of the CL, they'll Tuchel and I think they will be all over Jose. Plus that's a good move for Jose as he will win all domestic trophies which will mean his CV has every trophy in England, Portugal, Spain, Italy and then potentially France. Then it wouldn't surprise if at some point he ends up at Bayern and wins the German domestic trophies.

His ego outgrew his talent. His methods only suit underdog clubs who don't mind always defending. His methods have been found out among big name attackers who no longer see him as a manager you'd want to sign for. He's a very toxic man and I think that comes down to never having played the game himself to understand sportsmanship.

Inter Milan or clubs in China or Turkey are the only remaining clubs I could ever see still taking him seriously

Madrid would never take him back. Monaco develop kids which Jose has no interest in doing. PSG would not touch his defensive style with a bargepole. Wolves won't take him as they develop players with potential. That leaves Inter. I could see him in Turkey with Galatasary as he does well at clubs when he has 10 times more money than everyone else in the domestic league

I don’t know why would he go to Inter other than to work with his beloved Perisic.
He’s not going to win the title there, should’ve gone to Benfica to try and restore his atrocious reputation to some degree.

Only club that likes him: Inter

Only club that suits his football style: Stoke, I guess.

Probably some psychological counselling and retirement. It's sad for someone that has won as much as he has for his last two jobs to gave gone the way they have. He is on a Clough style downward spiral.

Real is a possibility because of Perez, but the links have cooled down recently. Not sure if he's their first choice, but he might be considered if Poch comes to us or stays at Spurs.

PSG are happy with Tuchel's work, no idea why you think they would consider him. Inter is the likeliest destination. I suppose Willian will move to Inter too if Jose is appointed, now that Chelsea have signed Pulisic.

I think he really needs to work on himself before getting back into management. He was incredibly toxic at this club because of his mindset and he seems to be utterly miserable.

There's always talk that his experience with the Madrid players changed him, I don't know what it was, but he needs to let go of a whole lot of bitterness and insecurities before he can come back into management and perform at the level he is capable of.

Back to Inter sounds likely, Benfica are apparently interested, wherever he goes I hope he adopts a very different mentality going into it.

would love him to get the Madrid job

no chance of any of our attacking players going to join him and we might get shot of Matic for a decent amount once he falls out with Casimero

Yes, he also needs to let go of this “you must respect me because of all of my past achievements” - those do not help his current club.

Interesting how Jose is now the butt of jokes and abuses by everyone now.

Like he said, he is to blame from everything from Sanchez's form to Brexit.

Poor chap. I hope he finds his way back and hits the top again.

One thing I do like about him is that he doesn't say a bad word about his ex employers or players after he leaves them unless the club or player draws first blood. He can explain decisions he took, but he generally shows respect to his ex-employers.

He only says bad stuff while employed. That stops after the sack of money he receives.

Fully agree.
I had hoped that Manchester United supporters would have a bit more class than to continually insult a former manager.

He has the dignity to keep his mouth shut about his time at United, unlike many of our supporters.
As I have mentioned before, he is the past.
We should focus on the future with Ole having made a promising start.
We still have the top four, CL and FA Cup to win.

I do remember him talking shit about Drogba after he left Chelsea, so I don't know what you guys are talking about .

The extent of 'hate' towards Jose is shocking, to say the least. I get those who don't like him and express it in the most reasonable manner. That's very fair. Jose probably deserves a lot of criticisms and is not your most likeable characters one might rightly argue. But to constantly spew out abuses on him and blame him for every problem of the club is ridiculous, really. No matter what people say, he was our manager and we shared a few joys with him. Another thing that is baffling is how some people think you cannot love and support this club when you defend Jose on any issue. At times I am tempted to ask, how old are you and when did you watch your first United game? But I guess that doesn't matter, does it? Like you said, we are in good times, winning, cutting the gap to the top four, with the players in good spirits. We still have a lot to play for and no one can comfortably bet against us right now. Let's enjoy the exciting ride.

What shit did he talk about Drogba? Drogba adores the guy.

He needs to take the next 6 months off, wait until the summer and then see what's available. He remains one of the world's top managers, one of the most successful of all time.

I do find claims of him being a fraud tend to come from life's losers.

Should pop over here to the States, be manager of a Zlaten led LA Galaxy and win the MLS Cup, that'll be an achievement pretty worthy like since they didnt even make the playoffs!

A very sensible and balanced post.

Have you seen the post match interview after Sevilla? Heard the words “football heritage”?

Stop being too sensitive, read his comments again after the Sevilla game and you will find very little to disagree with in all he said. He was factual and realistic - we have indeed been poor in Europe in recent times (in terms of qualifications and winning trophies) prior to his coming. But unfortunately the truth hurts.

What I did dislike and will always dislike is how he set us up to play against Sevilla. That was painful and inexcusable as far as I am concerned.
