What next for Mourinho?

If he rocked up at Old Trafford as a visiting manager (let's say Inter in 2 years for the sake of argument), what sort of reaction would he get? The matchgoing fans were not on his case at all, were they?

Obviously if he signed up on here, 85% of the forum would be banned for the barrage of abuse but that didn't ever really happen at games.

What's next for Mourinho?

Joins Moyes weekend bitter club.

Sitting at the couch watching new United with flair.

They will moan together and get fat eating popcorns and nuggets.

I think he would get his fair share of applause.

His stock just went down a notch.

He's done in England. I think managing a national team or Italy might be his best choices.

I think his reputation is damaged beyond repair. Only an absolutely desperate top club would touch him.

He won two trophies with us. So he will get the respect he deserves.

I'd reckon most of us even on this forum slated Mourinho only for the time he was still in the job.

His agent is a great snake oil salesman, I'm sure he will (undeservedly so) get a job at another top European club.

If he were a comic villain, he would be the footballing equivalent of Brainiac. Instead of planets, he destroys clubs.

Klopp to Real, Mourinho to Liverpool.

After the euphoria of seeing him gone from the club earlier this week, did anybody start to actually feel sorry for him? I must admit I did.

I wonder whether he saw the game today and what his thoughts would have been seeing us take Cardiff apart like that. I think he's going to go to Monaco. That would be the perfect project to restore his reputation/credibility.

Looks like Henry will be back in the Sky Studios very soon.

Absolutely mental that Mourinho is a contender for the Madrid job. After what he done with us, he shouldn't even be a contender for the Portugal job. I'd take Fernando Santos over that clown.

I'd feel sorry for him if it weren't for the fact that I think he wanted to get the sack, he wanted out, he wanted his pay off and to start again somewhere else

Absolutely not. I think he actively wanted to get sacked after getting the transfers denied in the summer.

Nope. The man has gotten many sacked and sold. None of them weigh heavy on his conscience. He doesn't deserve our sympathy

Nope. My joy has only increased with each passing day. I hoped that he watched the game today and felt bad about himself.

It’s impossible for me to feel sorry for someone who deflects blame and takes shots at everyone under the sun, without ever once considering that the problem might be them. Same reason I never felt any sympathy for “hard working, honest but out of his depth Moyes”

He was relaxing watching Vitoria de Setubal in his hometown around that time.

There are reports that Perez still loves him and wants him back at Real (Ramos is the only remaining player he really fell out with).

Otherwise, I can only see one of the fallen giants in Italy going for him. Most likely back to Inter. Maybe Atletico if Simeone leaves but there's never been any serious reports of him leaving.

None of the top English clubs will go for him at this stage until he's rebuilt his reputation. I can't see Bayern looking at him. Not a chance at Barca obviously. Juve wouldn't. PSG...maybe, but he's hurt his 'brand' significantly over the last 12 months.

Are there any other clubs coming up that are being bankrolled with huge money?

It's amazing that it's only been a week since he left. It feels like a month already.
All the time and money we've wasted on this loser, not to mention this season's league challenge lies in ruins.
What an utter failure this man is, and yet he still walks away with £20M. How fecked up is that.

Bayern. I think that the Mourinho journey isn't over, he will challenge a new League in another top club in Europe and the germans are the ultimate challenge for him I think and then he will come back to Inter for sure
I dont think he would take a club that Pep managed at this stage as anything Pep touches turns to gold where as Jose is the opposite.

He’s done as far as big clubs are concerned. There’s far too much player power these days and he’s been rumbled.

Even the plastics like PSG are far more willing to employ younger, modern minded coaches like Tuchel. Jose’s done.

He may get a job with an national team

I think he's going to have to go through the Trapattoni, Heynckes, LVG etc route. He might need to repair his reputation at lesser clubs before having another chance at the big time. Coincidentally, he's around the same age those managers had to make similar decisions.

Absolutely fascinated to see his next move.

With every passing United game since his departure, his reputation is taking another hit. The trouble for him is that it’s not the first time this has happened for to him. In fact it’s a carbon copy of his previous job so far only with less success in the role.

Same point of failure, same poisonous atmosphere, same falling out with talisman, same negative football, same liberation of players and club upon departure, same subsequent upturn in performances and results.

The biggest obstacle in my opinion of him getting another top job is not results or even style of play. It’s the absolute headache of his personality and relationships within the club that the executive branch of the club can expect to have to deal with.

Shitty dealings with the media, awful public persona and inevitable upsetting of key players the club would rather keep happy and tied to contracts.

I have absolutely no idea who will take a gamble on him right now. His stock has fallen so low.

Will go to Serie A and manage one of the Milan teams, or maybe International role. Will never manager in England again that's for sure.

Jose reminds me of Trapattoni. Both dominated with dour defensive football for a period but quickly became dinosaurs once attacking football came back into fashion.

I honestly think Jose is for the scrapheap at club level. It's possible he saw the Utd job as one last opportunity to top up the bank account with a massive severance payment before calling it quits. At International level he will be back though eventually with either Portugal or Italy

One thing is for sure, he will plan his next move very carefully to ensure success to salvage/restore his reputation.

I honestly dont see who would want him now though. His last three jobs have ended in disaster with shite fotball and worse results, but what is worse is how much of a twat he is and how he damages the clubs image and reputation

Hope he sink into oblivion, football has suffered from this virus for too long. 1st manager I don't feel sorry for, I'm actually loving it seeing everyone bashing him. I feel sorry for the next club who hire him thought.

I think he has China written all over him, he likes easy money. He'd do everyone a favor if he simply retire.
