The ball was too close to him and too far away from Hart, for him to wait for hart to come and get it, especially given Torres was right behind him. Terrible decision, what was he thinking? Not only does he have no chance of getting to the ball himself, he also skewers his own defender, who now has no option to either take the ball away himself or pass it back to his keeper. Completely avoidable.
