What four players would you like to see come here in the Summer

BUT we need a RB, we need a LB, we need 2 midfielders and we still don't have a RW. For me, we need 5.

Soares > Portugals 1st choice RB. P/l Experience, will be available following Southamptons relegation. Is solid, nor spectacular. Can't see many genuine RB options for us, think this in terms of value and risk ticks both a lot of boxes

Rose > lets face it, shaw is off and Jose fancies him. If he can regain his form, he''ll be a better option than Young. I think Sandro will prove to costly and go to Chelsea, Sessognon the jury is out and Tierney probably too similar to Shaw. Logic on what Jose wants points to Rose

Ramsey > 1year left on contract. The kind of dynamic hardworking midfielder we need. aware this wont be popular, but can see Ramsey fitting into our team.

Weigl > Excellent option for DM. Great player. A must buy for me

Mahrez > We need a RW to balance out our attack. Mahrez fits the bill better than anyone for me. Upgrade on Mata and he wants out. I've said this for some time, Mahrez is the missing link in our attack
 
I think we could expect:
LB: Sandro
CM: Fred
CB: Alderweireld
RW? Maybe a Malcom or Kulivert

However, I think we could sign Sessegnon and loan him back to Fulham for a season. Neves I don’t see leaving wolves yet, so I imagine we’ll get one midfielder this summer and the second next.

Should be the 3 we go all out for. The 4th player I'd hope to be a right winger but unless an attacking player leaves I can't see Mourinho buying any attacker.

I'd cry of happiness if we signed Fekir, he's just a fantastic player to watch and makes everything look so easy. I really think he will become a top 10 in world player.

Some very good players named here, and a lot mentioned in the media. But seems Mourinho has said he wants 2 midfielders now to replace Carrick and Fellaini. He seems to want Fred as one, but I would love Savic here also.
 
I personally don't think there is a pressing need for a right back next season or even a centre back is not an urgent priority. We need midfielders who can protect our centre backs more and are good with the ball and playmaking skills so that we play more attacking cohesive football and can control the tempo of the game without the ball and control midfield better with the ball in possession in high press rather than punting it long to Lukaku and look for second balls which happen once or twice in many attempts.

I would go for playmakers in the middle if the park. Ball circulation is a key aspect of any world class successful team and I think we are only the 4th best team in the country in those aspects. We as a team has got to get better on the ball. My choices would be :-

  1. Jorginho as a deep lying playmaker and Matic competition.
  2. Fred/Fabinho/Dracoure as defensive / b2b midfielders
  3. Nabil fekir / Jean Michael Seri as attacking playmakers. Fekir can also play no 10 and right wing so he is an attractive option there as lingard and mats upgrade.
  4. Alex Sandro as left back/wingback.
 
We need to sign ball carriers. Players that can take the ball from our own third into the final third. At least 3 of the 4 we sign need to be able to carry rather than pass.

RB: Meunier
LB: Rose, Tierney, Sandro, Sessengnon
RW: Fekir, or Mahrez would be perfect for the right hand side. Though Fekir seems to look better when he has a free role.

CM: Honestly don't know what way to go on that. The Pogba problem needs to stop being a problem though. I don't think the answer is easy.

Fekir's numbers are ridiculous 17 league goals 6 assists, all comps 22 goals 7 assists. played mostly as a 10 this season but still drifts towards the right in most games. He'd take up the right sided spot perfectly imo, much like how Eriksen does for Spurs.

Mourinho got Modric and Ozil for Madrid. They were one of the most exiting counter-attacking team ever and had cohesiveness under Mourinho.

If you want to challenge for highest level in Europe, an attacking playmaker is a must in this modern era. Every top team challenging for those honours have one. Also, our over dependency on Pogba to create is not a good sign because if he is injured or have a bad game it holds us back in terms of creativity and attacking efficiency. So an attacking midfielder will really make us more cohesive and better so that our strikers/ inverted wingers don't have to drop deep to receive the ball and can focus on getting in behind and getting into the box so that we have enough numbers in the box in final third.

Really hope Mourinho gets a player like fekir just like he signed Ozil for madrid and integrate him in this team as a player like him can easily be taken by other top managers and teams.

Fekir is quality and we may go 442 diamond if Jose can get full backs sorted out with better legs and attacking quality. With Lukaku and another up top being Sanchez.
If so anyone of these 3 groups are a possibility with Fekir:

Nevus/Kondogbia/Fabinho/Fred
Sandro/Tierney
Marquis/Munier/Coleman

Fekir would add some amazing amount of ammunition for our front two, he’s a special player as is Kondogbia and would not be unhappy seeing either be signed.

Vardy would be a great option to come off the bench, if the game is deadlocked.

P.Pogba also needs to learn to spring fast attacks. Jose needs to get this guy creating fast attacks, from defensive positions. Pogba, lately is playing as if he is sedated!

Personally, I believe that our current squad is good enough to play attractive football and get 2nd place.
To compete for the league though, we'd need to bring in a Galactico, who plays like a Galactico, when he arrives. Kroos would be great. We shall also require a high quality LB and RW, who are in their prime (mid 20s). And possibly a backup striker.

Fully agree. We could have City or Liverpools side and they wouldnt perform as they do now.

Think it might be the Glazers closing the wallet a tad more than Mourinho only wanting 2 players to come in, as its obvious we need lb rb rw cm as a bare minimum and ideally a cb and another cm on top.
 
Don't think we need a RB this summer, Young can provide back up and Tony is still good enough for another year. So;

Fekir wouldn't cost tooo much surely, £45-60m? Lacazette went for 50 odd. In my eyes Fekir is what made Lacazette look so good when both were at Lyon.

You’re spot on position wise in what we need imo but depending Jose’s thoughts on formation next season depends on position that need prioritised. We may go 442 diamond or 433 or 4231 or 343. Or he may buy best available like Pogba and Sanchez and look for a formation alteration if he thinks it’s more beneficial.

  • Right back - Cedric? (underwhelming), fabinho*
  • Centerback - Alderweireld, Evans, Lenglet
  • Left back - Alex Sandro, Tierney, Ghoulam, Rose
  • Center mid - Fred, Jorginho, Seri, Savic, fabinho*
  • Wingers - Sessegnon, Doulgas Costa, Willian
My guess is Cedric or whoever for right back, Alderweireld center back, Tierney left back, Douglas Costa if Martial goes to Juve, if not Sessegnon, then Fred in midfield. No idea for 2nd midfielder though. Can see it being a big summer though. Right back, left back, center mid are musts, and past that are replacing players who go. Fellaini gone, 2nd mid in. Martial out, winger in. Alderweireld seems likely to come in so one of the CBs will leave too.

Fabinho would be the perfect signing too imo, as he could be the main right back but at the same time provide depth in midfield if needed, with Valencia covering for him.

Fabinho, alderweireld, Tierney, fred and sessegnon/Douglas costa. A summer like that is perfect IMO.

By far our biggest need is a central midfielder like Carrick of Xavi. Obviously hard to find because they are rare, but thats where the vast majority of our resources should go.
 
We desperately need fullbacks. Adding those is the best thing we can do. Maybe we can concentrate on getting an established LB and use TFM or Tuanzebe as Valencia's understudy next year, then buy a RB the next season.

Then we need CM reinforcements.. one has to be first team quality. We can again promote from within for spot #2 .. TFM or Perreira. If a young promising midfielder becomes available, like Neves, then maybe do that.

Third priority would be RM (Mahrez, Bale, Willian etc. I honestly thought we would sign Griezmann and play him there, such has been our policy recently).

And below that CB (Alderweireld).

All the noise at the moment is CMs and Toby though. We can't seriously go into next season with Young and Valencia our only likely fullback options.

Is anyone else vastly underwhelmed with the names we’ve been linked to. We are closing in on silly season and there doesn’t seem to be a major muppet target. Normally by now you’d expect Gaitan, Garay or someone to be constantly popping up.

RB, any one who can remotely cross and isn’t scared to attack space.

Think it's been an indication of the way we do business lately. We don't leak much anymore then all of a sudden we've got a big name being unveiled on Twitter. I prefer it personally, the transfer saga's ruin my summers.
