What’s Real Madrid’s secret?

Not taking credit from Joselu's well timed runs for the goals.
But that really shows what good coaching and gameplay can bring out the best of the players. The 2 goals from Joselu were not wonder strikes (In fact Davis' was better ). They were well coordinated attacks that each player did their part to play together. Joselu was disciplined to followup from possible slips and expected a cross from his team mate to reach him. Currently our players look lost when they have the ball and can hardly put in proper accurate crosses into the box. No wonder we have problems finding goals. It is the coaching team to drill that into the team and I put the responsibility on ETH the head coach. After 2 years, we still don't see any proper gameplay in our games or resemble a team that has trained together on daily basis.

Their mentality is ridiculous, but when you are favoured in every single game by the refrees it tend to becomes far easier. There hasn't been single CL title that I have seen them win without controversy in their favour.

What's funny is that they convinced the league and the world that Barcelona gets all the help while they aren't even regarded as favoured in general.

Need someone like Flo Perez to run the club. Whether new owner can do this or not, only time will tell.

Well yeah. Unlike those idiots, we know how to not get caught

It’s mad that they can bring in a stoke reject as an emergency centre forward, and even he’s been indoctrinated with the juju.

We brought in Wout Weghorst and it went about as well as you’d expect.

Wout got our juju.

And then the aura becomes a bonus factor when it comes to small margin competiton like this, teams deep down hs e the feeling that RM would just somehow find ways to go through.

This is probably the biggest part of it. Otherwise Barca would also be making a lot of finals. Instead, Real keep strengthening their reputation for incredible late comebacks season upon season and whatever aura Barca gained in that PSG comeback was immediately squandered against Roma and Liverpool.

United should be more ruthless with coaches and players but we still trying to find our next SAF to come in and build us a squad and lead us to glory for the next 20 years....

It helps Real that even if they feck up a couple of manager appointments, the worst that'll happen is that they'll finish 3rd. On the other hand, drop out of the top-4 in the PL and without City-like resources and/or stumbling upon a generational manager, it'll be a while before you can get really establish yourself at that level again. It's affected each of us, Arsenal and Liverpool and Chelsea.

They're UEFA's favourite side as witnessed by the countless decisions that go their way in Champions League games.

My guess is it's similar to Barcelona's, €€€ in the right places.

It's an element of luck too, pens against City could have gone either way and if Neuer didn't feck up Bayern might have held on.

it also helps that we only fecked up twice in 14 years and the first time around we sacked the clown on christmass and his replacement won 3 CL in a row

They are always there or there abouts in the league and domestic cups so that automatically puts them in the running for the CL but their record in it is absurd.

They are the biggest and most successful club in the world and it isn't even worth debating. The vast majority of Latin America, Europe, Asia support them and young up and coming players from these regions dream of playing for Madrid.

Even closer to home in the UK they are massive. I will admit that I had a Ronaldo 03/04 away madrid navy shirt when I was 10 years old and I knew many lads my age (who were brought up united fans) who had similar with Zidane, Figo, and Beckham.

They are the pinnacle of club football and there's no harm in acknowledging that. Barca, Millan, Bayern, Us and Liverpool have to scrap for 2nd prize.

So the ref predicted Bayern would score and therefor whistled? He must be able to see the future I guess? That did not look like a dangerous situation at all. It was not like a player was through 1 v 1 and he whistled.

Don't underestimate Stoke City juju. Their former strikers seem to turn up in the CL.

Best club for marketing I would imagine.

Ive been watching football for nearly 50 years and one thing never changes, and that is Barcelona and Real Madrid hardly ever get done by dodgy decisions, 95% of the time these decisions go in their favour when it matters.

Coincidence ? .. nope

The secret is their fanbase who don't put up with mediocrity like most of ours does.

Why did he break the VAR rule and whistled? Of course he didn't know they will score.

You lot had more likeable players/managers and behaviour on the pitch to be fair.

With all that european and domestic succes you'd expect them to have several trebles by now but nope not a single one.

People can talk about controversy or bribes but they're just so dominant, they have the best players.

How did we win 8 of the first 10 PL? Was it brown paper bags? Our rivals would say the same I imagine.

To be honest the first few European cups they won were easy street in my opinion.

They won the first five ever European cups then another one in 1966 then a 30 year drought until the late 1997. That's a huge gap for a team of their size and resources.

So they went three decades without winning it.

Then did 3 over 1997-2002 then another decade drought. Then 5 over 2013-2022.

It's clear they just have squads that are insane during these periods of dominance.

Zidane, Figo, Raul, Makelele, Redondo, Anelka, Carlos etc.

Ronaldo, Bale, Benzema, Modric, Kroos, Casemiro (ha), Marcelo etc.

The secret is their fanbase who don't put up with mediocrity like most of ours does.

But it only works when you have an ownership model like they do. They have a CEO but he is voted in or out by the members of the club and not in charge because he is buddy buddy with the owners. Of course there are some disadvantages to this, like Barca's former chairman who almost bankrupted the club, which could be addressed by more oversight and transparency though, which would also be something fans could actually help to implement.

Madrid had a goal disallowed after 70 minutes when they were on their way out. And but for VAR would have had a perfectly legitimate winner wrongly ruled out as well. If the officials were trying to help Madrid, why rule out the first completely and wrongly flag for the winner?

Plus, Bayern didn't really have a 'goal' ruled out. They had an attack wrongly ended, and then a player 'scored' when the game wasn't in play and everyone else had stopped. We don't know if Bayern would have genuinely scored in that attack had the game been active. But certainly the official should have kept his flag down until the end of the attack and then we would know.

But classing it as a disallowed goal, and ignoring Madrid's one and so claiming bias, is the same kind of shit we endure in the media / social media - where decisions that go against us are ignored, while decisions in our favour become a huge thing.

And everything else. Trophy haul speaks for itself.

Any United fan claiming we're the biggest hasn't got a leg to stand on.
We are very big for fans, but international success we are not top tier.

Winning breeds winning and the ultimate goal in any sport is to win first and formost. Anythings else comes second, that was what we are under SAF. They win somethings every years either the league or CL and they have advantages over others with their city, weather, culture, prestigues , selecting best players from the regions that often produce great players.

A combination of factors, great squad, manager and the benefit of the doubt whenever they need it with regards to some decisions going their way at crucial times.

Their CL record is amazing, only other thing equally amazing is how our club is still so popular with kids despite being almost irrelevant in serious competitions for the last 10+ years.

There are still generations of people who experienced SAF's United and pass that passion onto their kids. As for kids whose parents weren't Utd fans, is Man Utd really that popular? As anecdotal evidence from the last 5-10 years, I have rarely seen Man Utd clothing being worn where I live.

Many factors, history, location, their dual monopoly of their league with Barca.

But they're also ruthless and have high standards. Managers won't get time to tank a season if they're failing and there'd be no silly talk of giving them another season/until Xmas to see if they can turn it around. If you're not upto the job you're out. They don't care if you might grow into the role and become a top coach in 3-4 years, they don't see a reason to wait around for that.

They take their responsibility to the club seriously, play with pride and belief. Goes a very long way.

Its the two of them. Go down the list of every single CL controversy in the last 15 years and it'll always involve Barca and Madrid, and it'll always be in their favor.
