I stopped following this race, only just catching up on things. How did Rishi fall so back in the opinion polls? He seemed guaranteed to be the next PM. What next for him?
He was never popular with the conservative membership, even during the candidate selection it was generally accepted if he was in the final 2 he wouldn't win.

Seriously it’s all lining up to “Boris must come back for the GE”.

Truss will make him look competent. The right wing media will spend the next year gas lighting and cleansing his image.

No mention of how much money she is going to give me in her speech!

Time for a new Prime Minister

Looking forward to the first PMQs and media interviews. You won’t be surrounded by Tory audiences now Liz.
Wednesday for PMQ's... suspect she will be looking to make an energy announcement and a few high level cabinet appointments before then

Labour will hopefully have a big list of the stupid stuff she has said over the years to throw at her ... I'm sure its a disgrace will be making an appearance - wonder if Starmer will go full on "poundshop thatcher" on her

She won’t last into the next GE ….keeping the seat warm for Ben Wallace

Incredibly depressing. Cannot stand the cnut.

Hearing Rees-Mogg is going to be Business sec and is very anti-fliexible working. Really hope not.

50% of total electorate required, not just those who vote, for scottish independence. that's a good way to kick off a civil war.

She is such a bad public speaker - I think the main beneficiary of a Truss premiership is going to be Theresa May who in hindsight we will probably look back on and say in comparison wasn't so bad

Does anyone know where I can buy a Liz Truss mug?
take your pick

I feel like this revisionism already happened under Boris; however let's not forget Theresa May was Home Secretary when all the Windrush documents were shredded.

Eagerly awaiting for the super-duper blue-steel-eyed female-power-combo Truss - Meloni dismantling Western Europe as we know it! Friend or foe, trick or treating, ninja turtles and dungeons’ dragons.

I read that the next general election is scheduled for no further than the 28th of January 2025. Do we really have to wait for that long considering the additional damage that Truss and co. can do to the UK by then?
she mentioned 2024 twice in her speech...

All elections since 1979 have been in April May or June - with the exception of the one boris called in December to get his "oven ready" brexit deal in the microwave

Id guess late may / early june after a tax slashing budget in April 2024

If anything that adds to her competence
Boris would have been found drunk with his tie stuck in the shredder surrounded by the documents
Truss would be baffled as she tried to shread a boat

Johnson was awful for turgid, rambling absurdist speeches, yet is somehow widely regarded as eloquent for a few one-liners.
