Westminster Politics

I like this Jo. She was on sky news earlier, came across well I felt.

Well damn.

Lid Dems are no Labour. Some of those votes are inline with their long standing Liberalist policies (namely, smaller government). It's a bit like bringing conservativism as an argument against the Tories.

It seems that Swinson has shown her true colours - and shitty ones they are too

Demands a 2nd Referendum on BREXIT as ' Democracy ' and then categorically rules out a 2nd Referendum on Scottish Independence as ' Democracy '

Quickly replacing Ms Thornberry as my Two-faced-twat of the moment.

She actually said that based on the 2017 election result, where the SNP lost seats despite promising a second referendum that, the Scots Nats had no mandate for a second referendum and that's why she didn't support it.

Pity she can't get her head round the fact that the majority of people who voted in the Brexit Referendum voted to Leave, and therefore she, herself, has absolutely no mandate to try to stop it.

Not true. If she leads a party which wins seats because it promises a second ref, then she would indeed have a mandate. We'll see won't we.

If she leads the LibDems to an overall GE victory on a platform of stopping Brexit, then yes, she has her mandate.

At the last GE, that policy won her ( edit not her, but the LibDems ) about 15% of the votes, which equals no mandate whatsoever.

I've said it once at least before on this forum but as someone who knew Jared (as in saw him every week for about 3 years around 9 years ago) I can safely say he is a huge cnut.

Really wish Have I Got News For You, would come back early for this weekend.

Hahahahahahabha.
Boris Johnson is the prime minister of the UK!!!
Hahahahahhahahahahha.
You are almost more pathetic than USfokkingA

I feel like I'm missing something about Hallam. It seems such an obvious place for the Greens to do well, given it's full of students and Sheffield is always talked about as one of the most environmentally minded cities. They never do, though.

I hope the Green bloke who was mayor and now an MEP can inspire something.

It should do an awful lot better than Nick Clegg and this bloke.

It's exactly that attitude that has got us into the position we are in.

In what possible way do you think etonian elistest right winger Boris Johnson might "change things up" for the better of this country?

Like we've never had a public school toff running stuff before. Is Boris a man of the people now FFS?

And assurance of citizens rights and that the UK won't break the GFA. It is only a stepping stone to the next phase after all

Common sense politics assures citizens rights and adherence to the GFA. It'd be political suicide to unilaterally withdraw the former or break the latter.

“He might be a cnut but at least you know where you are with him, he tells it like it is”

Be afraid. The UK is becoming USAish with every passing day. I hope people see sense and look the other way to Europe.
It is. There's a clear and well funded plan from the American right to have us as their ally in white nationalism and it's working.

The main reason was under a more liberal Conservative party that believed in making something of yourself. Aspiration, hard work!

I always found the Labour Party, particularly under Corbyn, a party of the magic money tree.
Well as someone who saw the state of NHS mental health counselling under a liberal conservative government, I'll be sure to the tell the young starbucks worker who's mental health was constantly on a downward spiral due to being over worked(Resulting in her routinely cutting her own face)all about your aspiration and hard work.

Serious question - When you hear stories like the one I've just told(Austerity has killed over 100,000 people in the UK), what do you actually think ?

How long do we think he will last? The make up of Parliament hasn't changed so I fail to see how anything changes on Brexit.

Unless he really does try to prorogue Parliament?

Yeah it's an odd one, I imagine the students will be more located around city ward now though. I imagine it'll swing back to Lib Dem next GE.

On the massive plus side she's (a) pro remain, (b) not Corbyn (c) not Johnson. That's worth 4-5% in the polls I'd say.

Back to pre Cable polling numbers then.

Man on Newsnight said Liz Truss is rumoured to be chancellor.

I was convinced their was little humour to be found in Johnson being PM but I may be wrong.

EDIT -
