Westminster Politics

Dawn Butler has said on LBC that a member of the public was sentenced to 12 months with 18 months suspended for saying she should be shot.

Will one of the toffs? Hmm

She's also pointed out how outrageous it is for this bloke to have access to the publics information, or potentially have contracts for AI in the future

The News Agents podcast covers all of this today and they nail every single point. The whole thing is so fecking odious and offensive to everyone (except racists, because the Conservatives don't want to anger them).

They're both fecking shit at their jobs would be one...

what about Diane Abbott makes her bad at her job?
Her local constituency overwhelmingly votes for her and she has a strong approval rate of the people she serves.
Is she your MP? Or perhaps have you taken part in any town halls she’s hosted?

Completely random - does anyone have a FT subscription? There's an article I want to read but its behind a paywall.

Fantastic podcast I listen to daily.

We would accept another £10m from Hester, says Tory minister.

Just about sums the Tories up.

The PM's authority is shot, but there is no big move against him," is how political editor Beth Rigby summarises the current mood in the Tory party.

Of course not... the Tories have lost the GE already and to most of their MP's (who are bothering to stand again) it just depends how many of them think they will retain/lose their seats, under Rishi.
Suspect most will have worked out for themselves how their constituents will vote and it seems the outcome is "Rishi will carry the can" or, "don't rock the boat anymore, otherwise we might go under without a trace".

Starmer needs to keep his mouth shut and just smile a lot, until the GE starting pistol is fired...it can't be long off now. ;)

They can't get rid of him at this stage because the moment he's at risk he'll call an election.

The whole racist, Islamophobic stuff is just a rinse repeat of the early 2000s - post 9/11 stuff around Muslims. They're that desperate.

This is why it's best to vote Tory. If things had gone well for them then we'd all be better off. Imagine how bad things would've been if Corbyn had gotten into power! We'd have a cost of living crisis or something!

Since he won't answer you I'll respond;

Hurrrrrrrrrrr fokin woke

When the forced apology is 'strong(er) words' than the slur.

Tories won’t give back Hester’s £10m because he has apologised, suggests No 10
The Tories will not hand back donations from Frank Hester because he “apologised” for remarks about Diane Abbott and condemned racism, Downing Street suggested.
The Prime Minister’s press secretary told reporters after PMQs: “Obviously donations are a matter for CCHQ (Conservative Campaign Headquarters) and you’re welcome to go to them.
“I’ll reiterate though, he has apologised for these alleged remarks. He has said very clearly on the record that racism is abhorrent; very strong words.
“And ultimately he has been donating to the most diverse Cabinet in history, led by the first non-white prime minister.”

He's a sack of shit. They've said in their defence:

During prime minister’s questions, the speaker must select MPs from either side of the house on an alternating basis for fairness.

This takes place within a limited timeframe, with the chair prioritising members who are already listed on the order paper.

This week – as is often the case – there was not enough time to call all members who wanted to ask a question.

Sure, but the person you didn't allow to speak this week was not only the subject of the main debate, but also the victim.

Get in the bin Lindsay Hoyle. Dairylea Man.

She's a bit thick and extremely combative. A hit in any walk of life and especially politics.

The Bar Council should suspend all barristers activities until the tories take back these ridiculous claims. Starmer never seems to respond to it either at PMQs. afraid of making it a bigger deal. he should just call Rishi a stupid twat for not understanding how the legal system works...

Oh he understands perfectly fine. It's the people he's dog whistling to who do not.

So despite being good at her job, her continuents loving her and being a longstanding MP with overwhelming support at local elections - oh and being a Cambridge graduate
You just think she's a bit thick and 'combative' (a trope thrown at black people, especially women lazily & unjustly) - and have no facts to back it up.

Got it.
