To be honest, I find the whole expenses issue a distraction. They’re pretty much all at it, even the ‘good’ ones, but in the grind scheme of things we’re talking pennies. If a politician is doing their job and actually making life better for ordinary people they can claim whatever the hell they want as I far as I’m concerned.
But Kendall isn’t making life better for people, she’s making it worse. She believes in punishing poor people for the crime of being poor, like IDS before her. Not only is it cruel, it’s economically illiterate.
This scumbags base will lap that shit up, yet the same people will be over in Benidorm come the summer expecting every local to speak to them in pure English. Where’s my fackin burger n chips?! I ain’t eatin that forin muck!

I wonder if some life altering event that highlighted how existence on earth is literally random and nature does not care about what humanity thinks would impact the children coming out of schooling into jobs and careers. These people live in a bubble where they apply 1960s work and life progression to 2020s reality.I worked in a field that both mainstream parties in every western nation would never dare criticise. COVID came along and then 2023 to now, there have been mass resignations, whole new departments set up to deal with "medical retirements". You'll never hear a peep out of any government calling these 30-50 year old people "stressed out" and "just get over it, that just work".

Cowardly is the right word. It's been a feature of neo-liberal politics for a generation. Delegate responsibility as far from you as possible. Easiest way is to palm it of to the markets like the above, and that comes with the added benefit of keeping donors happy.
Politics is now just a bunch of middle-managers who are able to play the "stay on script" game against politics journalists that try to catch them out for no other reason than to gloat about it. Also the next election is years away and labour currently have a massive majority there’s really no excuse. Which probably means we should question do they genuinely care about this topic or was it simply another pledge to win over progressives but always destined to be dropped.
