Why do so many people still not realise Benitez does not control the transfers at Inter, higher powers buy and sell the players at Inter, Benitez himself said this when introduced to the media.

If we were interested in Sneijder ive no doubt wed go straight to Moratti and co with the offer, not Benitez.

Lets not get our hopes up eh? :D

I mentioned this earlier in this thread and devilish said that although some other guy is 'in charge' of transfers the waiter was assured he would have a big say in things.

They probably patted him on the head as they assured him.

"Yes Rafa, of course we will listen to you on who we buy and sell. Anyway, the Baked Salmon please."

Usually that is the case at Inter. On the other hand things did changed with Mourinho and according to what is being said by Moratti on the Italian channels, Rafa will be granted the same kind of respect.

So he gets a say in the Menu layout then?

That is according to what had been said both by Rafa and Moratti. Mind you he will have less power on transfers then he had in England. In Italy such things are done by directors, in this case Marco Branca. Stating that he would still have a say on who should remain and who should leave.

To conclude Inter fans (and board of directors) tend not to be as patient towards their managers as the Scousers are. If Rafa mess 2 yr in a row he may end up being kicked out

Seeing the free signing he made I think Rafa got his wish.

So basically any discussion on transfers would be something as follows:

Moratti "weve recived a good offer for player x from club y"

Branca "indeed i think we should take it player x is over the hill"

Benitez" but id prerfer to keep player x hes part of my plans and my football philosiphy"

Moratti "'Thank you, we'll take it under advisement"

Branca "yeah, so anyway deals a goer"

Moratti "yup i think we all agree"

Benitez " ................ "

I dont attend Italian clubs board meetings to know exactly how things work, what I can tell you is that in Italy the manager's role does not exist. Rafa is an allenatore ie coach who, on paper has no say over whom the club should sign or not (same as Phelan). That role is reserved to the owner who usually use a trusted person (someone with football's background) to come out with a list of players that the club needs. The deals are negotiated by the owner or the president (ex Galliani etc) if the owner have multiple companies and cant dedicate time to do the negotiations himself.

As I said on paper coaches have no say in the deals. There were times in fact when players where signed without the coach consent like for example Huntelaar who was not wanted by AC Milan former coach Leonardo. On the other hand the italian clubs tend to heed to the advise of high profile coaches and in this case Rafa was promised to be treated like one.

Pretty sure they speak in Italian.

Yes, i know all this, hence why i said from the start Benitez will have no say whatsoever in transfer activity at Inter, its above his station.

Well according to Moratti he will have a say, same as Mourinho had. I cant remember a time when a high profile manager was not considered at all in terms of transfers. That is one of the reasons why bullies like Berlusconi are not hiring high profile managers anymore.

well if he's like the 2 players mentioned there should be no problems with him playing in a 4-4-2.

When was the last time Xavi played in a 4-4-2? and when I mentioned oldschool Scholes I was meaning just the box threat part.

--------Rooney
Nani----Sneijder---Valencia
-----Fletcher--CM*

*Carrick, Scholes, Hargreaves, Anderson, Gibson

That would be the roll he would probably be utilized in.

IMO Sneijder is just what we need. The player our team is crying for at the moment. He just turned 26 - so he's by no means old. I don't like the thought of signing players who already played for a few top clubs in a row, but with Sneijder I can accept that. He's the closest thing to young Scholes out there.

Unfortunately I doubt this story has any substance in it, he'd cost 25-30M and I don't think we would splash such money on one player these days. Would love to be proven wrong, though.

Inter: pronto rinnovo per Sneijder. L'agente: "Prolungamento fino al 2015" - mercato - SPORTMEDIASET

Inter: Sneidjer's contract extension

Inter are not keen of losing their prized asset. In fact they are ready to handle Sneijder a new contract which would keep him at Inter till 2015. That is what had been said by his agent on the Dutch newspaper De Teleegraff. "After the world cup we (Inter, Sneijder and himself) will meet and discuss the terms for a new contract"

According to the English media, Manchester United are interested in Sneijder, something Moratti wouldn't want to hear. In fact he will offer Sneijder a 2 year extension to his contract.

Let's face it, we're not interested else we would have got him in the Ronaldo deal. If we've got no restrictions and could have got them, we're absolute mugs not to have got sneijder and Robben

Which makes sense....inter would never allow sneijder to move unless a very big offer came along. And I do not think we are in a position to outbid other clubs, both in terms of transfer fee and in salary,

So this Sneijder to united story is just pure crap ...

Its probably his agent just trying to get him a new deal, & guess what it worked!

Why would he want to come here and leave the current European champs? to a team who's legendary manager is going to retire sometime soon? it's all bollox.

Sneijder will not be coming this summer. There should not even be a thread about this. Its retarded. Its like opening up a thread linking us with Torres or Cristiano Ronaldo.

And miss out on the chance of playing for one of the biggest idiots - yeah why would he?

why don't you go around saying this in every player thread then?

So Moratti has confirmed Utd are interested, I have to admit watching him recently I've thought he'd be perfect for us beside Fletcher in MF and my inner muppet is wanking furiously..

That said, he's just won a treble with Inter and should he win the World Cup surely he'll be in contention for WPOTY and his price will quadruple....

it be only a pipe dream, there no chance inter will let him go....
