Wesley Sneijder

100k would put him ahead of Rooney, don't think he'd be happy about it.

But yeah 75k which he gets seems reasonable.

BTW congrats on your boy winning Wimbey.

Rooney will be discussing a new contract this summer, so it is likely he'll move on to 120k per week in line with Rio.

Rooney's getting a new contract this summer which I think will easily make him top earner..

I think out of the current crop only Eto'o gets a mindblowing wage. I don't think Sneijder even gets half as him.

Edit: I checked. Sneijder initially wanted 6m a year, Inter didn't want to pay more than 3.5m.

The contract was signed for 4m which is below 80k a week. Don't think he would need a pay cut to come to us if we are now interested and we put a bid.

I dont know how much he is paid so I won't speculate. Stating that I would be surprised if Moratti had thrown tantrums for just 6m a year.

Man Utd target £25m Wesley Sneijder - Exclusive
Published 23:05 05/07/10 By Alan Nixon

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is plotting a £25million raid for Inter Milan’s Dutch ace Wesley Sneijder.

Ferguson has told his money men that the midfield maestro is the player he wants for next season to bring more goals and imagination to his engine room.

Sneijder has been one of the stars of the finals, with his goals and clever passing him taking his country to the semi-final clash with Uruguay today.

Fergie has been on his trail for weeks and began behind-the-scenes moves for the player who helped Inter win the Italian title and cup plus the Champions League after being discarded by Real Madrid.

The United chief sees Sneijder as the injection of class that his side needs after missing out on the big prizes at home and abroad last season.

And, with Jose Mourinho leaving and Benitez after his own men, Ferguson hopes that he may have a chance of landing the star - although it will cost him a small fortune.

United will pay big for Sneijder as he is just 26 and has a re-sale value, one of the demands that the Glazer family put on large cash signings.

The Americans have made funds available and chairman David Gill is ‘on the case’ to land the Dutchman.

Ferguson knows that he may have to replace the likes of Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs in the coming season and Sneijder’s acquisition would help overcome that major problem.

Sneijder could be tempted by the move to Old Trafford if the terms are right. It would take a bumper contract, but there is also scope for that within the United budget.

Ferguson is well aware that his squad needs an extra lift after falling short in the closing weeks.

Midfield was a disappointing area in some of the top matches and Sneijder has proved to be one of the best in the business.

Sneijder is waiting to see how Benitez’s regime pans out at Inter.

The former Liverpool boss is trying to recruit in midfield with Javier Maschernao and possibly Lucas Leiva in his sights.

If Sneijder does not like the direction that the club is going he could push harder for the United move - although the decision would have to be made in this window to let him qualify for the Champions League.

...The Mirror.

I doubt Inter Milan will sell him unless he asks to be transferred and that IMO is very unlikely.. Although his dream club is Real Madrid so if he were to move to us or anyone else he will never be itching to leave to go to his dream club since he has already realized what a bag of shit they are..

to be honest why should he come? Moratti won't let him go after only one year where they won everything possible. Furthermore Manchester United isn't better than Inter at this moment.

Mourinho has left Inter. HTH

That'll soon change

I have followed Veron deal closely and Barca where never mentioned (good media not rubbish media like tuttosport or calciomercato.it). We got JSV because he had troubles in Italy due to the passports scandal that could have costed him a heavy suspension. He would have never left Italy if it wasn't for that.

Villa had been stating that he preferred Spain to England for 3 years in a row in which both Barca/Real where interested in him but they were always turned down due to Valencia's expectations (too high even for Barca/Real). We were just outsiders, who may have attracted attention only if Barca/Real suddently lost interest on the player which was highly improbable. Not to forget our not spending big for players over 26 yrs old policy since Valencia would have rather kept Villa then sell him for less then 30m.

There was as much chance of getting Villa as United buying a piece of land on the moon. Using his name as an excuse for our inability to add new players to the team would be

I don't see the excuse bit. Makes no sense.

I didn't think Rafa was in control of signings, they have them director of football chappies in Italy don't they?

Branca leads the show but Rafa was promised a big say in the transfer market

Fair enough, he'll probably sell WS to fund a few more defensive midfielders and/or right backs then.

I'm going to release my inner muppet here. I really, really hope the stories are true. He's a class act. Would love us to sign him.

WS would be a great signing & just what we need!

It does my head in that we've missed out on so many good available players lately. For starters - how the hell did Ribery end up at Bayern when so many top clubs were interested. And we should have gotten WS in the deal that took Ronnie to Real..

Don't see it myself. His good world cup and last season means his value would've more than doubled. No chance we'll get him.

My inner muppet hung himself weeks ago. In his place is a cold, bitter, cynical, skeptical old toad.

Rebbit.

why we didnt bid when he was only 15M from real is beyond me. He had a brilliant euros against top quality opponents, playing well for real before getting hit with the diaby special in a preseason friendly. Has been class since his days in Ajax and could do the business at united.

We wont be signing him however. be estatic if we did but amidst all this value jibber jabber I'm not going to hold out hope.

Sneijder would be a fantastic attacking midfielder in a one striker set up. Would probably render Berba as excess baggage with the likes of Owen and Chicharito here.

Lets not go there again :(

We could've bought Robben and Sneijder last year, but whats done is done. Still think we may go for a player like Sneijder, even with his inflated post WC price.

But you can see why Fergie didn't go for him. He has played the terquista role most of his career. Don't think he can fit into a 2 man midfield. Playing him in a 3 man midfield would mean end of Berbatov.

Sign him up Fergie!

Having said that, it would have been idiotic signing Sneijder last season and it meaning Berbatov had no chance in the side. Even though Berbatov didn't do that much better last year he deserved more than a year's chance.

There are a few rags who are speculating that Inter may be willing to part with Sneijder so that Rafa can buy Mascherano, which strikes me as odd given that they're compeltely different players. (But then again, its Rafa).

But we did play with a 3 man midfield for the majority of last season.

It was also reported in Dutch media few days ago that we've made an official enquiry for Sneijder. He would be almost perfect in our new 4-5-1 formation.

As much as i would like to see him, just cant see it being it done

1. Inter arn't stupid enough to sell there best player.
2. His price will have doubled.
3. We won't be the only ones after him.
4. Manchester weather.
5. Rafa won't sell to us.
6. We won't spend £35m + on him.

It won't happen.

Would be perfect for us though...
