'Wesley Sneijder does not want to leave Inter, said Gian Piero Gasperini at a press conference, but he also noted that the market is unpredictable.'

(from FC Inter 1908)

Reading between the lines, I guess that the club's hierarchy wouldn't mind selling Sneijder (but they're not going to reveal that openly), though the player's reasonably content to stay where he's settled...and on a good salary.

That's an old comment though isn't it?

Wesley Sneijder admits to Vanity Fair with his wife and Yolanthe strong statements: "Of course, if the team decides to sell, I'll go where I tell you to go. But I'm sorry. We found ourselves so well, and Milan I will miss and Inter. But football is like that. When I was transferred to Inter from Real Madrid, I would have preferred to stay in Spain. All this makes it sound like he's 'happy' to go to United if the club decides to sell him.

Perhaps Inter want to a) make a profit on the sale b) Get Wes off the wage bill; none of this would be revealed publicly though, not least because Sneijder's extremely popular with Inter fans.

The probability of us buying one of these midfielders keeps changing dramatically by the day. One day we're interested, the next we're not, the next day someone wants to come to us, the next day they're going somewhere else, etc..

I'm pretty sure most people (barring the club managers and directors), know feck all.

Can't see why anyone who wants us to sign him would be disappointed by that. Here's what it says on that Inter 1908 site run through Google translate

" Of course, if the team decides to sell, I'll go where I tell you to go. But I'm sorry. We found ourselves so well, and Milan and Inter I will miss . But football is like that. When I was transferred to Inter from Real Madrid, I would have preferred to stay in Spain. In ten minutes, our life has changed, remember? "asks the wife. Yolanthe remember it perfectly:" Certainly we were in the pool , received a phone call and six hours later we were at the Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, bewildered. "

I interpret that as him saying if Inter accept a bid he's happy to sign for whoever makes the bid. I find that very encouraging.

Reckon we should consult the "Cootie-Catcher" - that'll reveal all, it never lies...

Both quotes in full and well translated.

Wesley Sneijder says he’d like to stay at Inter – although he admits that he can’t rule out a move to Manchester United.

The Premiership giants are keen on the Dutchman who could be sold by Inter if an offer of around €35m is made.

“If the club decides to sell me then I’ll go, but it would be disappointing,” the midfielder told Vanity Fair.

“I’d miss the city of Milan and also Inter.

“However, football is like this. When I was sold to Inter I would have preferred to stay in Spain with Real Madrid.

“But in 10 minutes everything changed.”

New Inter boss Gian Piero Gasperini was also asked about the international midfielder earlier today.

“Sneijder is here and he has a desire to stay,” the tactician noted. “He is a top player and he is at Inter today.

“However, there are still 50 days to go in the transfer market and it is hard to predict what will happen.”

Football Italia - the Italian football website for English-speaking football fans

“If the club decides to sell me then I’ll go, but it would be disappointing,” the midfielder told Vanity Fair. Newspaper: He's going, it's definite.

“I’d miss the city of Milan and also Inter. Newspaper: He's going...It's fecking on!!

“However, football is like this. When I was sold to Inter I would have preferred to stay in Spain with Real Madrid. Newspaper: Scrap that, he's staying.

“But in 10 minutes everything changed.” Newspaper: Changed. He's gone.

New Inter boss Gian Piero Gasperini was also asked about the international midfielder earlier today.

“Sneijder is here and he has a desire to stay,” Newspaper: Hold it, fecksake he's back. the tactician noted. “He is a top player and he is at Inter today. Newspaper: Here today, gone tomorrow

“However, there are still 50 days to go in the transfer market and it is hard to predict what will happen.” Newspaper: He's been sold

Now it makes sense as to all the different stories.

Sometimes I wish we were back in the Sixties, with papers not even mentioning football for weeks during the summer.

Aren't we old enough to know never bother with headlines and articles about transfers? The same people year in and out jump on every headline from whatever source, even if it's some brand new website with the layout design of a child, and latch onto it. Your lives must be very stressful...

Arguing about the merit of a player coming here is lovely, but debating his coming or staying based on people who get paid to sell papers is pushing the boulder up the hill. One minute you're close to the top, the next you're being chased by the boulder as you sprint downhill.

it would be so much easier for everyone concerned if we just closed the transfer forum during July and open it up the day before the window opens. Too many of you get worked up, i fear for your tickers

Sneijder: "I want to stay here. The players here are fantastic. Zanetti has a very strong character, he hold the team together in the hardest moments. Nagatomo is very sympathic and here at Inter is a very good atmosphere and it feels like home. Did I have say how much it would regret to go away from here?"

Newspapers can run with 'Sneijder to stay' and 'Sneijder to go' on their back and front pages using that same quote.
