Wesley Sneijder

If we are just buying players like Parker to warm the bench, I'd rather we give chances to Pogba and give him some experience if he is not going on loan.

That's exactly what I said.

If we sign him, the caf will just explode

One thing i have learnt that in recent months we have done a bit window shopping, we had a look at Sanchez, Nasri and now Sneijder-all too expensive for us.

Dont think that's the case with Sanchez, think he was always Barca bound.

Other than that I've no issue with us not wanting to pay the crazy wages the other 2 want.

Not really, for various reasons I reckon, money being one of the most important of all. Sneijder wanted to move, we probably wanted him at some point and Inter wanted to sell, so money was most likely a factor. £35m plus enormous wages really have to be taken under consideration here and when you look at pros and cons of this move then it's fair to say that cons may have outweighed eventual pros. Fincancially we're like £70m better off not signing him.

Exactly, especially as we have done well with our new midfield combo which probably convinced Ferguson even more that we can do well on our own. When Pogba, Morrison and Tunniclife are ready in two or three years we might have one hell of a midfield.

Sanchez (who was always going to Barca) aside, it's not a case of 'we can't afford those wages', it's a case of 'piss off you greedy twat why should we pay you that much?!'. Which I agree with entirely. Wage structures are vital.

We are an injury away from a midfield that no longer plays with high energy.

Anderson or Cleverley need to remain fit and play 50-60 games each else we'll be starting with Carrick, Fletcher or Giggs who for me are all now support players rather than first name on the team sheet types.

That's why we need one more player at least, but in fact ideally two players, probably a Sneijder type and a M'Villa type.

If only one player then Modric would be the best fit for United IMO.

Going to be a lot of upset folk on here later tonight. I said no more signings over a month ago. Gill stopped talking about world class players the moment season tickets reached a certain level.

We'll challenge for the title and still have a good chance of winning it. But to do so we will need to stay injury free in the central midfield area else it'll be back to seeing us struggle in away matches against sides we really ought to be beating comfortably. (See Wolves, Stoke, Blackpool, West Ham, Birmingham etc etc last season)

The fun today will come from Harry Redknapp, I don't think we will be doing any business. Think Gibson, Macheda and PIG stand good chances of heading out.

Well that is business for us. I really hope they do too. Diouf as well.

Cant think of too many sides who "comfortably" beat Wolves and Stoke away last season.

Yes that's right, ignore the validity of my main point by using aloof diversionary argument tactics.

Swap those sides for Everton, West Brom, Blackburn, Bolton, Villa etc if you must.

And I saw Liverpool hammer Wolves 0-3 while playing in second gear.

This is not me saying we have a right to hammer these sides, we don't and we have to earn any victory, just saying that for me our midfield should be strong enough not to see us being carved open time and again when playing these types of teams.

Sale or loan? Macheda in particular is far too young to be writing off as not good enough...

Loan for sure for Macheda. I want to see what he can do for a year in the PL.

Kuszcak needs to be sold, as does Gibson and Diouf. It’s simply benefiting nobody including the players themselves being in the reserves

Agreed.

I am extremely disappointed we haven't signed a quality midfield and I felt we needed two, not one.

We will be found out against the big european sides because our weak midfield.

Still, as long as Anderson and Cleverely continue progressing it will good to watch. However, when they get injured or lose form or play top opposition it will become clear again how badly we need an established player in there.

You never know...what we need for me is quality, experience is a bonus. I think there will be some suprises during the season. If it comes obvious we need someone, we might do something in jan but we're not too bad

Around 11pm tonight, the F5 button on many keyboards will be completely destroyed.
Only by 6 - 7 am will all have accepted the truth. A river of tears will be cried.

I don't think there are many who still genuinely believe that there is a distinct possibility of this transfer happening.

The only way I'll be happy with Sneijder not coming, would be if Morrison gets given a proper chance this season..

has the caf ever gone into muppet overdrive over a player they never signed like Sneijder this summer?
