Saf said all those pages ago that we would not be signing anyone before the Community Sheild why did some refuse to believe it.

Yeah, Fergie always speaks the truth! He said we aren't signing anyone, so close this thread!

He also said earlier this year that we will be looking to sign three players in the summer transfer window, which we have and now even I am being a little skeptical about this deal.

He's in China so obviously there will be no movement right now. If anything is to happen it'll happen when he's in London for the friendly!

There's this too;

"Wes to City

In Beijing the last of Sneijder
To Mancini for 36 million.

And on Monday the Russians of Anzhi will return for Eto'o: 30 million to Inter and 20 a year to the player. Will Moratti extend the contract?"

Call me an optimist but it wouldn't surprise me if Inter have fed them those lines to get us to make an offer. One possibility.

Sneijder is a great player, but if wages are really a big problem, let him go to City.

Christ...

I'd have to agree with this. City are pretty much nailed on to land Nasri, I cant see them going for Sneijder either. There's no way that Sneijder would move to city, money can't be a factor, as city would have a hard time bettering his current wages, with the FFP in mind (300m sponsorship or not). Also there's been absolutely no speculation linking Sneijder with them at all. It seems like inter tryinng to provoke us into doing something soon, so they have adequate ti me to find a replacement.

If shitty sign him up i only hope SAF has something else up his sleave, thought of finishing below them makes my blood run cold.

James Horncastle (Guardian, FourFourtwo etc.) on the exclusive:

No one else in Italy reporting it. Gazz have been pushing Manchester derby for Sneijder. Why? a] possibly to get MUFC to increase their offer if one has been made b] because MCFC can afford his wages. Perhaps that's reading a bit too much between the lines. Gazz hit and miss in terms of reliability. But based in Milan, close to Milan clubs. Usually when they're sure, they're sure, it's true, but again, I'd wait + see what happens today + tomorrow, how Inter react etc

and about the animosity between Inter and GdS:

anyway, that's a different circumstance - Gazzetta recognise they were way too Inter during Calciopoli scandal, accused of bias etc -calling it Moggiopoli, Inter mbrs on their board - now they're addressing the balance. If anything their recent reporting of Inter lends them more credibility in the public's eyes. Not saying that makes the Sneijder story true. Wait for official announcement, word from Inter

Would be a great signing for them actually.

From an Inter fans' forum:

Here's a really good point to question about the GDS article.

It reads that City have Sneijder signed for 6 million a season.

€6,000,000 / 52 weeks = €115,385 pw

WELL LESS THAN THE £230,000 that Wesley was demanding from United.

If both him and Nasri went to City, I'd expect a major collapse in the Transfer Forum. Little chance of that happening though.

Hahaha! Would be hilarious if he went to city!

We have different senses of humour. Ferguson missing out on a world class player that he has targeted as important to our future, and said player going to our local rivals who are continuing to buy top class players and could well be a big threat, isn't that funny to me.

But you are very cool, you know, not being one of the "muppets" and all.

Yeah, it would be so funny if one of our most dangerous rivals signed a proven world-class player who would add that bit of creativity that was often missing last season.

You'd just love it, wouldn't you?

Are we crap at buying players, we appear to enjoy window shopping when it comes to established players i.e. Sanchez, Nasri and now Sneijder.

Anyhow, don't believe the story..
