Big transfer news from Manchester United as they prepare to face Barcelona - Sky Sports News HD from 7am

Diouf off to Blackpool again?

Probably just Sky Sports News understand Manchester United have pulled out of the running to sign Wesley Sneijder.

Gill's interview from yesterday
No talks ongoing. Things can change quickly and all that

Gill: We have big money in the bank, even if you haven't believed us.

Makes one wonder what SSN would consider to be small transfer news from Manchester United?

"United to add green tea bags to tea tray in Carrington changing room. More comment at 1130."

It would be if they made up a quote about Sneijder drinking only green tea

It's obvious Gill got a ticking off SAF for contradicting his story about not being interested in a CM..

by the sounds coming out of inter its clear they want to sell

if we buy sneijder it will be for 27-32 million i reckon

look at the sanchez deal - barca paid a hell of a lot less than the 40 million udinese were demanding

They must think we are stupid, to save £30K a week, £7.8M over a 5 year contract, we have reduced our price by £11M, the lieing journos can't even do simple maths...

Also, paying the extra £30K per week over 5 years means the present value is probably nearer to £5/6M. Why didn't they say we'd offered £30M, at least it would be more believable...

Not sure why I'd defend goal.com, but it does say: "United have told Inter they will pay £24m for Sneijder. Inter have said they want £35m although they could be willing to sell for £30m."

Assuming the maths isn't more complicated, eg factoring in increases in salary for other players whose deals are pegged to the 'top earner'.

We aren't getting him now that much is obvious. All of the main brokers in the deal are suggesting nothing is in the pipeline. Come on lads move on now, else it will only hurt more come end of august.

It's neither a dead cert nor a dead deal, so to suggest otherwise either way is muppetry. It's in the balance so all this speculation (either baseless optimism or completely writing it off) is pointless. Patience!

It's all dead, according to David Gill. Of course, that might be just speculation on his part, we can never be sure he's aware of the facts.

He said it's looking dead for now, he also said it could change in the near future. No point in anyone on here marching out guns blazing being adamant about it either way until September 1st.

What was it then?

Wonder if Sky will get an interview with Sneijder after the Inter/Celtic game?

I think we can be sure he, as much as anyone, will be aware of the facts. What we can't be sure about is the accuracy of what is relayed to the media.

I think we can be sure that some people's sarcasm detectors are dead, for now.

Diouf off to Blackpool again?

Gibson is set to stay? Barton's signing is imminent?

SAF- no signings and I definitely mean it this time, definitely, definitely, cross my heart etc. Titter, nudge nudge, eh David?

In the last two summer transfer windows when saf said no more signings he held true to his word.

Didn't he go out and sign The Homeless One after saying he won't sign anyone?

That seemed a very dubious signing done for different reasons than actually improving on us, but I won't touch that, since it'd mean serious accusations against certain people at the club...

It was a signing nonetheless after he had said no more signings, as was Diouf two years ago, so it renders your held true to his word comment false.
