Weird feelings of football

Whenever a team sacks their manager, they're playing us next and they always get at least a point off us.

Kinda glad we're not playing Hull next.

Each season the three teams promoted to the Premier League consist of one overachieving side that plays good football and finishes mid-table, one mediocre side that battles against relegation and one that is so shit they finish bottom and go straight back down.

It's usually the side that comes up via the play-offs that does the best as well.

Very true. As to that last point, it used to be the opposite until a few years ago.

Zaha and Berahino are to Spurs as Gaitan and Sneijder are to United.

The majority of major transfers we make or are planning to make are for players whom we will then have trouble playing in their natural position (think Pogba, Mata, Griezmann.) This is an affliction suffered only by Manchester United.

Manchester United has a moral obligation (sponsored by certain vigilant Caf members) not to let a star player sit on the bench. Instead, we must plan for the future transfer of said player (rather than enjoy his services while we have them,) even if he is immensely valuable coming off the bench and has expressed no real discontent regarding his situation. If his salary is over 100,000k/week, the moral duty grows exponentially, as it is just not right to waste the Glazers' money.

The Barcelona Dynasty is over. But like Rooney, no journalist is going to say it until someone humiliates them.

Any out of form player will have a good game against Manchester United
Anyone on a goal scoring drought will score against Manchester United
People score their first ever goal for their club...against Manchester United

When your team wins a game of football the narrative and sense around everything at the club feels relentlessly positive and on the up. Conversely, the moment a poor result happens it's a total 180. Melancholy immerses your whole outlook on football.

When Moyes was the manager, all these records were broken. Not won at Old Trafford...until 13/14.

every other mid-bottom PL club has someone named Traore playing for them
Yeah there's almost a hierarchy of African names: Traore is on the bottom rung; Cisse and Sissoko will get you a mercurial, yet ultimately mid-level talent; Toure is quality; Dembele gets you a Fulham player with promise.

Sakho can also elevate you to a top 10 berth.

Former northern Ireland international striker, Ian Dowie never scored with the foot.

Ian Rush never went to Juventus. Liverpool bought John Aldridge and sent him instead.
