No, he is more the Aimar type, actually somewhere in between. Weastey, how on earth do you say "repentización" in English? That is essentially what the diference goes down to.

I mentioned that in some other thread in the transfer forum. Alas, I'm shocked we are not there yet! He would probably be the only case in which I would expect immediate impact.

Adaptation is a major issue in midfield but if you sign someone to bang in the goals all they need to be able to do is just that and Cavenaghi has that edge, probably the best (realistic)potential partner for Ruud that has been mentioned.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Ruud needs a creative partner imo, Ronaldinho is ideal imo.

Ronaldinho would be the best buy IMO, but we are talking 25m here and I don't know if the plc won't be shitting themselves by XMAS <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

I know, that is a slight snag! PDC was the cut price version, but its a bit late for him. Zola would have been nice too!

Improvisation. Ad-lib.

Certainly, that's where I see him playing.

I think it's ad-lib, not sure exactly. It's a mixture of improvisation and tempo.

I thought it was a word mainly applied to music? Ah, that's where the tempo comes in!

Never heard of it related to music but it does make sense to talk about playmakers with musical terms.

Repentización would basically be improvising and displaying the ability to follow a wide range of gameplay alternatives changing the tempo and the face of a game in a split second.

Aimar was King at doing that, which earnt him the nickname "El Payaso" (the ease with which he changed things over being on the edge of irreverence). Some would say Riquelme was more footballing brain and sheer class but in one dimension/tempo (just like Veron, he will seem to up the tempo with two long strolls and then doesn't live up to it and slows down again).

D'Alessandro is neither, he is somewhere in between and could eventually master both arts. But then, he could also be half as good in both. I doubt it though.

how much would he cost?

7-10 mill?</strong><hr></blockquote>

I guess bidding starts at 9m and closes at 12m. 10 would be a steal, over 12 only if there are some serious heavyweights going for it (i.e. River would easily settle for that).

riquelme went for 8mill didn;t he?

i thought it would be a great time to pick up players on the cheap from Argentina.. no?

Yes he did but there were a lot of things involved there. Family problems and disillusioned from previous transfers that never came through, Riquelme even threatened to quit football altogether.

Argentina was great to pick players on the cheap over the first half of this year. Now most have adjusted to the shock but our British pounds are still worth a lot more than before :D

Yes, it really is a shame we probably wont get him. We could get Ronaldinho now plus Cavenaghi on the cheap and hopefully he could learn from Ruud and eventually replace / partner him.

RVN is too young for us to be thinkin about replacements IMO.. the guy who comes in to sit on the bench for him will most likely end up like OGS..

Again though, he wouldn't be expensive. I can't believe United haven't sent scouts to look at both him and Joaquin, especially since rumours are flying about that he is not happy at Betis.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Joaquin mentioned that he would love to join Real Madrid one day so I can't see him moving to us.

And even then, that means Beckham has to move on.

Are you talking about when he said something like "I want to be Figo's successor at Real Madrid"?

I watched an interview conducted with him on one of those football shows - football mundial I believe.

Well, it's every Spanish (look I said Spanish, not Catalan) kids dream to play for Real Madrid. It's normal, but wont stop him going to another club if they get in for him first. He's on a long contract at Betis too, and they might not be willing to let him go to another Spanish club.

Another one?

Nah, it it'll be the Santiago Bernabéu, with Madrid moving to the new Olympic Stadium for their 2012 bid, which will never hold an Olympic Games.

Great Excuse to put a bit of money into Real's pockets.! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> </strong><hr></blockquote>

They are supposed to be doing, but with Madrid bidding for the 2012 Olympic games, if they build an Olympic stadium, what are they going to do with it afterwards? Maybe a Manchester City Council - Manchester City like deal, with the Bernabéu going to the council?
