We have too many players who aren't cut out for the highest level

I'm sticking with my belief that under new management we'd have a new team even if it's the same players.

Ditto.

We've heard this far too many times regarding our players. When you have a manager who is eager to play players out of position and set them up badly you can't expect them to be world beaters. Under a better manager I think some of our players would flourish. Under lvg there're just shackled from playing

I think they have shown something tonight, but why didn't we go for that away goal at Anfield? The manager has a lot to answer for regarding the form of his players.

I'd exclude Fellaini from my comments. He's so clumsy. Ungainly Fellaini - played insanely.

Totally. But I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't make sense of how we were supposed to be playing

The team isn't as bad as it seems, the whole set up is totally fecked.

Every time I hear this argument I can't help but look at Leicester. LVG has ruined most of these players, they're playing at their lowest level.

Big Dave, Martial and Rashford. The rest are pathetic tonight. Dreadful.

Yes ddg made an error, but he pulled off some good saves too.

I don't know if we'd win league titles or cups with this team under a different manager, but I'm sure we'd look a much better side.

Exactly. He seems to have a gift at taking creative players and beating it out of them. Just look at di Maria last season or mata and Herrera this season.

The only players who have really done well are the kids who have come in and haven't been beaten by his philosophy stick!

Varela will disappear now. He choses them, but a really bad performance they are done.

An incompetent an outdated manager is the biggest problem.

My post in another thread probably belongs in here more

As the camera pans across our players lining up....doesn't it just look like a team that belongs in the Europa?

Doesn't it just look like a team that would go out of the Europa?

I sort of agree. Lingard, Rojo, Fellaini, Blind, Bastian, Valencia, Rashford, Varela are either not good enough or too raw to be starting this level.

Weve been so average tonight in a gung ho performance. If youre going to have a number of average players in your squad, you need one or two top class players. Think di Maria staying could have made the difference.

Yeah lots of average players.

But so do Liverpool and they look better than us. A manager makes all the difference.

I find it hard to agree - Coutinho, Lallana, Origi, Can are players who seem to be better than our equivalents to me.

You can't expect this lot to be world beaters, end of.

Yes, he's a shocker, I agree, but too many of the players are bang average.

Virtually every player is lacking confidence and form, I think we do need better players, players playing in their correct positions and some sort of balance but the team instantly improves as soon as LVG is gone, it's almost laughable how bad he is and how reluctant we are to sack him.

Coutinho is better than Mata I agree. The others are here and there imo. I don't think you look at the 2 squads on paper and say Liverpool have the much better players. I'd say it's about even.

Keep---> Dave,Rashford,Martial,Schweinsteiger, Lingard,Blind
Sell--> Mata,Varela,Felliani, Rojo

Well we didn't play badly tonight to be fair.

Whereas the manager's performance warranted substitution. Need a goal, and just swap the defenders about.

Everyone else knew the team needed strengthening up front, but in two transfer windows we did feck all.

I'm not sure about Rojo, definitely believe Mata has more to offer, agree totally about Fellaini - but I like Varela.

Varela
Blind
Darmian
Lingard
Fellaini
Schneiderlin

The reason we're 9 points clear of Bournemouth after 30 games is because thats the skill set of the bulk of our first team. We're just a truly average side and blaming the players is justifiable at times like last week when they couldn't be arsed but overall most can't play better than they currently are. Buy mid table, add some talent, and you'll finish about 7th.

Why are we surprised.

they do. but even their average players from midfield onwards are just much better on the ball, quicker thinking, faster moving. we're dreadful.

Another example of why I refuse - yet - to blame the players for this whole fiasco. di Maria came with a reputation, left with less of one, and now he's shining again.

It's LVG.

I find hard to judge anyone under this clueless clown of a manager tbh.

Btw, remember the same Leicester squad with 1/2 additions that was fighting relegation last season is running on top this season with Players being touted for 30 odd million now and getting international call ups all over the place.

And don't forget Di Maria example either.

That's in a (coco) nutshell.

I think I'm... angry and confused.

I'm still on the side of the OP, yes Van Gaal can seem to make our play too structured I agree. But we still have players like Fellaini, Rojo, Darmian, Romero, who are just not cut for the level of United for various reasons.

I just feel like we could have bought better, but only a new manager and a new way of football will tell.

I am not sure there is a single manager out there who doesn't play players out of position. Successful clubs are littered with players playing in different positions including ours for so long. It is a lazy excuse and only makes sense if the players lack the intelligence required at this level. I think LvG has not done a good job and that is putting it in the most diplomatic way possible but today I am sorry, Lingard, Fellaini and Rashford were incapable of some of the most basic skills that should be taken for granted for a top club and by that I mean running with the ball without over hitting it? Keeping a shot in target? It's the mark of youngsters who might or might not become good enough but are simply not even close to ready at this moment.

Rashford is 18 and has shown enough that he gets a pass.

I feel the majority of the fans of this club create this environment. The players they show the least amount of support, least amount of patience is the flair players. The players that can offer something different, that try things that could potentially be a difference. More often than not these are confidence players that need support. We champion the hard working defensive wingers and want to discard Memphis after a few months. Nani, a player who could cross with either foot and at best was a joy to watch. Di Maria, wasteful but always created goal scoring opportunities. Berbatov, top scorer in the league had little love.
Eventually these players just broke, the support they got was minimal. We're left now with safe players, who'll put in a shift, refuse to take risks but when we need quality we are found wanting.

Unfortunately I don't think we're seeing the best of our players under pan face so we will need time after he's gone to assess them, I'm positive most of them will be loads better under a different manager.
