WC Snooker 2013

Just not Judd Trump. Anyone who's played against someone who isn't all that special, but frequently smashes the balls about when there's nothing else on, and somehow continues his break will know how annoying he is.

I'd normally go with that potent mix of supreme composure, talent and jamminess found within Mark Selby. There's nothing abnormal here but I'll be supporting The Rocket. It would also be nice to see John Higgins win again. He's in danger of becoming a has-been.

I'd be happy so long as anyone but him wins it. I hope he never wins a single thing again

It appears i'm thru to the next round

How do you do that Ronnie; not play for a year and hit a 82 break in your first frame back?

I hope you win, but I suspect Neil Robertson will. I think you won't win due to the lack of matches you've played and I think Robertson currently is the best of the rest.

I think the idea that he hasn't played for a year is a bit of a stretch. Competitively sure, but he'll certainly have been sharpening himself up for this recently, and he's so naturally gifted he could probably do that having not played for a year anyway, as long as his head is in the right place.

Anyone bar Selby for me, I find him tedious as he wins by strangling the life out of his opponent and he's an awful technician. Robertson beat him at the China Open but then Selby beat him at the Masters. It's 50/50 with those 2. Love Murphy too, great cue action and he could be worth a punt at 18/1.

But I think we all know that if the Rocket is on his A game or anything like it, he is in a class of his own and there's nobody that can touch him. He was in his genius at work mode yesterday, he had the cueball on a piece of string.

Williams and higgins both about to start! Good snooker today I reckon!

Really pleased for Mark Davis. Seems like a decent bloke.

Glad that Higgins is out. Not a fan of him or his style of play. Ridiculous fighter when it comes down to it though

Allen's good but he's an absolute burke. Thinks he's the outspoken badboy of snooker who's kept down by those in charge.

Hes a massive attention seeker aswell. The stunt with the gaffer tape was ridiculous.

You're a snooker player ffs

Tried to break off when it wasn't his turn

Did you see him yesterday stretching his arms like he was ready to go into a boxing ring or something

And he missed the ball completely by trying too much backspin, chipped it over the pink.

Rofl Allen out! Higgins out! Williams out! Ebdon out! Maquire getting a taste of Tom Yum Goong!

feck me. Allen needs to pull his finger out. A lot of ability but constantly seems to fall short. Seems to have had one major final and one major semi, though I could be wrong there.

Disappointed that Williams went out before I even saw him play. Higgins too really.

I'd love Poomjaeng to come back tonight and knock a century in to dump Maguire out, he seems a great character.

Also, was it just me who saw that post and wondered who Rolf Allen was?

It looked for all the world like our Poomy was going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory but he held it together. Every shot is like a chapter of a novel with him.

Just watching him now. Have to admit to not having seen him before but totally loving watching him.

How hard is it to have a personality while being good at snooker??

Wow just the opening round and already Allen, Higgins, Williams, Ebdon & Maquire are going home. Looks like I will add another World championship to my name. And I'll probably take the next tour season off as well!

World Snooker Championship 2013: Poomjaeng 'not full shilling'

Stephen Maguire said he could not watch Dechawat Poomjaeng's antics during their World Championship match.

World number five Maguire suffered a shock 10-9 defeat to Poomjaeng in the first round in Sheffield.

The Thai player, ranked number 70 in the world, applauded his own shots, willed Maguire's to go awry, and spilt a bottle of water mid-frame.

"I was afraid to look at him in the end. Crazy things were happening out there," the Scot said.

"I just had to switch off. I don't think he's the full shilling. I've never seen him before but there's definitely something missing.

"He seems like a really nice boy and very genuine."

Poomjaeng came through four qualifying stages to make his Crucible debut against Maguire, beating Anthony Hamilton and Jamie Cope along the way.

The 34-year-old won the World Amateur title in 2010 and turned professional the same year, winning his first match against John Higgins. This season Poomjaeng has reached the final 32 of both the German Masters and the China Open.

The Sheffield resident lives with four other Thai snooker players, including former world number three James Wattana, and now has a second-round date with fellow qualifier Michael White.

Maguire added: "The crowd seemed to take to him and got behind him at the end and he seemed to be enjoying it.

"I'll have a pint and forget about it and move on to next season."

Owen Phillips, BBC Sport correspondent at the Crucible, said: "It was box-office entertainment. But it was more Frank Spencer than John Spencer."

Poomjaeng twice took a wrong turn when entering the Crucible arena and spent much of his time throwing his arms about, twitching and fidgeting, muttering to himself, and hitting himself and the table.

In only his second season as a professional, Poomjaeng said: "I tried to relax and enjoy it, rather than be serious because that wouldn't be good for my game. It was exciting."

:lol::lol:

This lad's a header!! I really want to see him go far now!!

9-8 Milkins.

If Robertson goes out here, then I see Selby and Ronnie cruising to the final.
