Wayne Rooney rejoins Everton | United save £30M by giving him £10M pay-off

Is it me, or is his shorter haircut making him look younger?
He looks younger.

Also the unveiling video which Everton did was a good one.

Shades of 'they say he's a legend' right there. Rooney's resigning for his boyhood club and in a sentimental promo vid he looks like he's about to start a 10 year prison sentence. I'd say never change Wayne if it wasn't that inappropriate right now.

Good luck boy wonder. You will remembered for a long time and i don't think anybody is going to come closer to your goal scoring record anytime sooner.

I remember watching the Crerand and Bower show on mutv when Wayne was walking on the pitch just after signing for us and thinking how exciting it was going to be with this young kid in the team and so it was.
We've defo had the best of him but he hasn't been up to the required standard for a few years now so his leaving is no loss to us now.
During his time with us he's taken Sir Bobby's United and England scoring records but I don't think he's thought of in the same vein as the holy trinity which some might think odd.
I hope he does ok at Everton but I'm not really fussed to be honest, he's gone, no longer a United player and that's it. Happy that he came, happy with the good stuff he did but not bothered that he's gone.

@sunama - Can't quote your post from the other thread as it was locked, but yeah, I understand their frustrations - it's been difficult watching Wayne struggle to get form whilst still being untouchable under the last couple of managers. I just feel that a man who has scored more times than any other United player should be afforded a bit more respect than some are giving him.

Great player in his day, arguably world class at times. I hope he does really well at Everton.

Thank you Wayne Rooney.

I'm glad I was there in Stockholm to witness his final minutes as a United player. Left after lifting a trophy, good way to exit.

Thanks Wayne, you were truly inspirational for us over many years. Hats off to you sir

What a player he was for us and will certainly be remembered and hopefully name sang for many years to come. Good luck Wayne.

I hope he gets a goal against us in a 4-1 home victory for us. Like when RVP scored and When beckham nearly scored that cracker against us for Milan (some of you will say that you would never wish a player to score against us ever)

Glad this has worked out so well for all parties. Rooney was my favourite player for a very long time, and I am glad to see him leave with dignity, going somewhere that will make him happy.

We had Milan beat by that point, most of us would love to have seen Beckham's long range blast go in - would have been a scorcher like you say.

What makes people think he will suddenly have a 2nd wind and start playing proper football again?
The circumstances could light a fire under his arse.

At United he had won everything and was being paid a shit load. At Everton he can be a catalyst for their success, he has the talent just needs the motivation.

All the best Wayne, You served United well and had an incredible career here, I hope your time at Everton is a great one.

He was an incredible player for us and he contributed heavily in a period of great success for this football club. Our lasting memory of him shouldn't be the last few years.

Incredible servant to united in his tenure here. Arrives as a boy and leaves as the record scorer for united and England. Well done Wayne, thanks and good luck at Everton.

Thank You Wayne. A part of me hopes that we will regret selling him.

Great player in his day, right time to go.

It's gonna be weird seeing him in another clubs jersey

Me too... :D

Genuinely emotional. He's the first player in my life time I've seen join, win everything, create amazing moments, captain us and then leave. What a fecking career.

Was a great player for us, hope he does well for Everton and reclaims his England place.

Probably worth mentioning that he's one of the most unselfish superstars in sport. Always went out of his way to make someone else's life easier on the field whether it was covering for Ronaldo on the flanks or making runs to free other attackers or dropping deep for the ball, he was always a complete teammate.

Seriously? The lad has been a legend for you and you are posting shit like this. Just thank him for what he has helped your club achieve, wish him luck and leave it at that. Don't go posting negative shit up about one of your best ever players.

Don't know why you quoted me...?

I said I was sad to see him go despite wanting him out past 3 years.

For once I completely agree with Liverpool fan.

He looks to be in much better shape now than he s been for a while, judging by the pic of him signing the contract. Good on him. Score a bunch of goals against Liverpool's second club for us.

Unfortunately he's not United level anymore, and arguably not even Everton level going by the last couple of years but he could provide a boost to dressing room there. I think it largely depends on whether he can retain/re-ignite his hunger for success. He'll be going there well aware that Everton are not as well equipped as we've been over the years in order to win trophies. He's not good enough to drag them to a title either, so I wonder what he hopes to accomplish there, but wish him all the best in his endeavors all the same.

Also credit to Mourinho for the way he has handled the whole situation. It was always going to be tricky to offload Rooney without a fuss, but Mourinho has been very astute and worked it well.

The transfer saga of 7 years ago is the reason I joined the caf. The feeling at the time, by the majority of posters, it seemed, was that he was a traitor and should fu*k off. I was of the opinion that he was vital to our success and wanted him to stay. We got a good 3 or 4 seasons out of him and he was probably the least selfish star player we've ever had on the pitch. But his decline was spectacular for us fans, made worse by the fact that successive managers, the media and pundits didn't appear to be able to see what we could see.

Glad he's gone, but history will treat him well, and wish him the best for the future.

Who on earth are you to tell other people what to post?

If some posters are happy that Rooney is leaving the club then they're perfectly entitled to exercise their right to say so.
I agree with you, But it look classless.
He may had very awful 3 - 4 years, but he had wonderful 10 years for us. Let's concentrate those 10 years now.

He's going to hold the United goal scoring record for a very long time, many decades probably.

Any details on the deal yet? Loan? Permanent move? Are we still paying half of his salary or not?
