Wayne Rooney rejoins Everton | United save £30M by giving him £10M pay-off

Manufactured a good chance himself by tackling (Jones wasn't it?) in our penalty box. Good save by DDG. Think that, and maybe one other moment, was all he had really.

Wasn't a good performance, also not the worst. There were a couple of worse performers on the field, from both teams.

It's the problem you get with pundits who are mates with players still in the game.

Crooks doesn't have that excuse. He's just nuts.

His touch on the ball is really crap it's unreal, especially when he tries to do anything from the first touch.

Well at least he didn't miss that goal.

This was the caf for the last 4 years.
He's got dirt on Koeman or has Kenwright by the balls.
He is the root of everything wrong with this club atm. They are more concerned about selling the brand than success.
He drops so deep to get the ball I'm starting to wonder if it's just selfish attention seeking at this point.
Consistently one of our best players....its not his fault most of the team are not very good
My honest opinion is that he's a player who has 3 goals and an assist this season.
When the others are on par with him we can start to scrutinise.
Until then he must play.
Dragged every team he's played in for last 4 yrs down to an abysmal level

You missed this :

I actually hate him being anywhere near this team.

Horrible player who gave his best years to another club, comes back to a hero's welcome.

He's bang average crap. United didn't want him, now we're stuck with him.

Rooney seemed to suffer the most during the period under the Dutchman which marked a dampening of his powers.

Will this nonsense ever stop?

Keown struggling with cause and effect it seems. It's not solely down to Rooney of course but if Everton (like United of a few years back) had a no.10 who was mobile, had a good first touch and was not constantly dropping deep, they might be able to play at a higher tempo.

Exactly. It's the same old story of his surrounding, way the team plays or some other excuses that make him look bad instead of simply looking at him as one of the reasons the team plays so slow. Pointing to Van Gaal is also bizarre as he made him the main man. Playing slow and dull football didn't stop Martial to have a great attacking impact.

If LvG had any striker other than Rooney, he might have actually managed to stay despite the shite football. Rooney was the cause of his downfall.

His tactics didn't work in general so don't know if he could prolong his managerial career at United even with some other striker (Martial played there often). But, yeah, the decision to make Rooney the main man had a big influence on that season and his failure.

Van Gaal sold all the strikers he had and then mentioned that he believed ' in trust and not competition'

It was a self made bed.

This. I wish people would stop making excuses for LVGs shtness. He was a shtbag who broke the spirit of multiple players and bored the feck out of most sane fans.
