Wayne Rooney | Leaves Plymouth by Mutual Consent

With ample talent, depth in squad, mediocre rivals and easy draws Gareth Southgate is expected to do that much bar minimum. Even David Moyes can win a league with City's squad and even average one can be called greatest manager. So why not Wayne.
I'm sorry were you not around when David Moyes took over the English champions?

Wonder if he would consider coming out of retirement in case Derby isn't allowed to sign anyone.

Massive respect to Rooney for accepting a really tough job. He probably could have chosen another one. But that will only help him grow as a manager.

Wasn’t he a bit shite when he played for them?

the word was he was totally shite and the fans were relieved when he hung up his boots. He was so bad for us for the last few years. Argh. Such a pity.

I think you're over estimating the allure of an elite footballer when it comes to a club's managerial choice. This ain't the 90's anymore where you'd get a job based on your name.

The likelyhood is that wasn't another 'better' job because any self respecting club with structure and plans to achieve PL promotion or PL level progress would not employ a rookie coach despite how good he was as a footballer.

Do you think the team was that good or even worthy for winning anything besides RVP Rooney and SAF being genius in winning leagues? Not saying Moyes didnt bottled up though.

Guardiola, Zidane, Ole, Arteta, Pirlo, Lampard, Vieira

His finishing and general ball delivery was still class. The main issue was, he totally lost his first touch. The one you use to set the ball up for that good pass or shot...

Sure, that's possible

But I do feel like certain clubs look at the comercial appeal a certain name could bring. That seems to be at least a part of some decisions.

What was up when Valencia signed Gary Neville for example ?

I hope Wayne gets it together. He's a retired footballer who has won everything in the game, manages a Championship football club, and you're raising 4 children. What the hell are you doing running around with 21 year old TikTokers?

He's always been a bit of a wild card off the pitch, but that's understandable when you're the young shining star of the world's biggest club. It's a bit cringe when you're a father, husband, and high level manager.

Well they won the league by 11 points, lost out of goal difference the year before & won it by 9 points the year before that. So yeah they were a bloody good side. Some ridiculous historical underrating goes on on this forum & I don’t understand why.

Gary's business partner owned the club.

I have sympathy for him but stories like these are why I think he doesn't have a prayer of having much of a top level managerial career. I can't imagine another manager being in this situation.

So... what actually happened?

I saw a pic on Twitter of Rooney asleep on a chair, next to a girl with her arse out. I assumed it was photoshopped.

No idea why we're supposed to give a feck tbh about this whole blackmail photo fiasco?

His career and body seems same as fatter Ronaldo.
How? He played from 16 on, even if his body gave up at 30, thats 14 years at the top level.
The longevity criticism has always been bullshit. Wayne had a long career

It wasn't photoshopped and she actually farted on him

Basically Rooney and his mates were in the same bar, invited the girls over and then to the hotel, that's when he fell asleep and this all happened.

And his transformation into phil mitchell is almost complete

I think a lot of those folks had behind-the-scenes coaching roles already to be fair
Not at top level and certainly not good enough to manage the clubs they got. Realistically none of them would have managed the teams they managed, not at first at least, without their weight as players.

Fat Sam would be crying into his pint of wine hearing you can't imagine him getting up to some hi jinx.

Can't believe he is younger than Cristiano

He's not aging well. I would say he's looking older than Zidane, Roy Keane.

Meanwhile, a 50 year old Lizarazu...
