Wayne Rooney | Having medical

Personally I thought he was better this season (when he did play) than what he was the last two seasons. Not so much at the start, but after he was dropped and then the bearded Rooney came back he did quite well for a few weeks. Then while he obviously did drop off again, I thought it was still a higher level than previously. Certainly not good enough still.
when he came back with the beard he looked and played like he was pissed off (for a few games). He just cant maintain it anymore

Had to look up our last one. Lost 2-1 to Zenit apparently. I don't remember it at all!
We'll do well to win the next one too! Though if we can win it, it's a boost already claiming a trophy, before you've even played league game 1 :)

Yeah, I'm still annoyed we lost against Zenit!

Here's also the other problem that no one tried an austere approach towards Rooney. The feckin whip hangs on the wall untouched since 2013 and that's a crying shame.

I remembered bits from that ill fated World club cup in Brazil, the Gaz Nev mistake(s) and Beckham? red card, but the Zenit game, which must have been 7-8 years later, no memory. Strange.

Bloody hell, this medical's taking centuries!

Sad.

Really wanted him to stay one more year to prove that he can still turn it around with us.

I gave him a chance for the past 4 years in my initial fantasy football team but he let me down year after year that finally i realised that Rooney couldn't do it no more.

Thank you for your service and goals wazza! Always will be a united great!

I cant help thinking that if he looked after his body more and worked on his fitness during the off season he may of had another couple years at top level.Pictures of him on the lash and smoking every season wouldnt of helped. Obviously he deserves a break and let his hair down like everybody else.

For at least 2 seasons now hes looked slow and his first touch sometimes horrendous.

His partnership with Ronaldo & Tevez was lethal and some of his goals were phenomenal.

Thank you & Good luck back home!

I might not have liked him that much as a personality, but I just loved having him playing for us at United. Total hard working team player, played with his guts, regularly scored in the 'big games' and had an aggressive drive to win, which is getting more rare these days with the musical chairs of players moving clubs so much. Gave all his top years to us and scored some amazing, important, exciting goals - enough of them to make him the top scorer at United. Wish I could shake his hand, give him a hug and wish him the best of luck. He deserves it.

Naturally, I appreciate Rooney's service and I recognise he is a bona-fide club legend, but I don't feel sad about him leaving. Obviously, he's been a diminishing force over the past few seasons so that may factor in to my lack of sadness. But for context, I felt pretty sad when other legendary players like Giggs, Scholes, and Neville left. I even felt a bit sad when players like Nani (infuriatingly brilliant) and Chicharito left, despite them not attaining legend status. But Rooney, I'm struggling to feel anything other than relief if I'm being honest.

I genuinely hope he does well, but I'm OK with him gone.

This. I think its because how he was paid so much and offered so little after his new contract. That and trying to engineer a move away and essentially holding the club to ransom. As others have said, he scored some important goals in big games so ile always be fond of him. Just not miss him.

Goodbye scousers son
Though I never liked you at all
You had the grace to leave by yourself
Made running looking like a crawl
You couldnt even hit the woodwork
And agents whispered into your brain
They tried to set you on the treadmill
And they made you change your game

And it seems to me you lived your life
With fagsmoke in the wind
Never knowing who to pass to
I guess whoevers at right wing
And I would not mind to keep you
But we might as well get rid
Your body burned out long before
Your legend ever did

I have no idea how this hasn't had a quote and a  but I am using one of my limited mains posts to bid you well played, good sir.

Surely this is a step back here for Everton. They've had some really good singings this summer and are building a really strong side. Sentimentality aside, i just can't see the logic in this move. For me Rooney is finished at the top level; he could become a big problem here for Koeman.

Going to be weird next season seeing him in an Everton shirt every week. I would love to see him recapture some form that's remotely recognisable to the old Rooney but I'm not going to hold my breath for that. Hopefully he can get a bag full of goals and keep Liverpool further away from the top 4 than they already are. Good luck Wayne, all the best.

Given that we're part funding his wages, it would be perverse if he scores against us.

Anyway, all the best Wayne, hope you manage to bag a few goals against the other top teams.
