I don't care, they're either own goals or they're not. And both of these look to have been going wide before being deflected in.

Fair enough. The Swansea one was definitely on target i think, would have to see the one today again.

Are you sure about that Swansea one? I remember thinking it was going wide when I saw it during the game. They gave a great angle of it from behind the post where you could see this clearly. Sky didn't give good angles on this one today though, so I'm not sure.

Do you mean the Burnley one?

Swansea was a penalty.

Rooney's not played much this season and we'll possibly finish 6th.

We've also lost five games this season and Rooney was playing in four of them.

I admire your loyalty to the guy, but surely you have to admit this club can't progress carrying a guy like Rooney.

Ah there's the great movement argument again. Between Rooney and Lingard we must have some of the best movement in the league. I'm surprised we're not battering teams with our sublime movement.
What's up with all the hate. He'll be gone next season, relax.

Simple.

They're not proper United fans.

It's not always like that. I'd class myself as a proper fan, and definitely one of the more realistic but still positive ones, and I just have a huge dislike for Rooney. Never rated him, never will and not thankful at all for his services when he leaves. Think the club would have been just fine without ever signing him in the first place. Vile human being who cheated on his wife and held our club to ransom twice.

18 goals and assists this season. He still has end product but lacks elsewhere. I still think he would do decent for a side like Everton if he were to be there number 9.
Those are decent numbers, I think there is still use for him considering how shite our other attackers have been. Although, we will probably be strengthening in the summer in those areas which wil make it difficult for him to get any minutes.

Ironically our best attacker in this game. Used his movement well to score a goal and played a couple good passes to expand the play

This is the only worthwhile post in the last 3 or 4 pages of a thread entitled 'Wayne Rooney | 2016/17 Performances'.

Rooney isn't immune from criticism, but some posters act like jilted schoolgirls when it comes to him (see below for some further examples).
This.

I wish I could admit that had we not had Rooney this season we'd have won the league or challenged for the title, but that simply isn't the case. We've looked equally as poor without Rooney than with him in the side.

I agree that he's not the same player, and have been in agreement that he got dropped, but we're carrying a lot more players than just Rooney in the side.

Rooney's nearing the end of his career, and has won everything there is to win at the club, both collectively and individually.

You should be worrying about the players we've bought in who are not performing well because they're supposed to be the future.

If anyone of those go on to have the career Rooney has had, then please let me know.

This.

Better than Martial?
Easily. Martial didn't do shit with the ball and held up the play several times instead of moving the ball. Notice how when he played the pass into Rooney, Rooney was able to pick out Baily and co making a run.

This is something I would never get! Our best player for 3-4 years, among our best for 7-8 years, Helped us win CL, 5 PL titles, top scorer of our club, one of the most number of appearances for us. If you feel that he isn't a club legend, then I don' think anyone is

Obvious wum attempt is obvious.

You had me thinking it was Swansea as well lol. But yeah the goal vs Burnley was definitely on target. Not sure how he could have got it in from that angle if he was off target.

But either way even if they were off target it's good they have both went down as Rooney goals.

Terrible as usual away from the goal. Pray to God I can withstand him 2 more games before he leaves in summer hopefully.

You're forgetting the 2 through balls to Martial(one in each half) that could have resulted in goals and the brilliantly weighted ball to Bailly right before half-time that could have been a goal. So 3 key passes and a goal he contributed.

On the flip side he was partially at fault for the goal and was dominated in midfield like every other Utd player. He is clearly by his best but he did ok today on balance and performed better than most, as at least he showed some guile.

He performed better than a lot of our players today. He will (and should) be replaced in the summer but let's show our record top scorer a bit of respect before then.

Would that have happened if no one was near Vertonghen?

Lets try and be sensible when answering this one.

I give up, you win , if you think that's what happened then you have bigger things to worry about, you seriously think that he let Vertonghen get in front of him so he could aim the ball wide but get a flick off him for a goal, fecking hell I've heard it all now :rolleyes:goodnight, hope you get better soon :wenger:

Come on Dave, cheating on his wife? I'd wager the majority of our playes have done it, seems a strange stick to beat him with. And let's not mention Giggs here :wenger:.

You must hate a lot of our players over the past decade or so then...

Taking one or 2 plays in a whole 90 minutes of terrible performance is not an excuse. Sorry.

I don't hate him, was one of my favorites for years but I can't withstand him playing now.

I doubt many footballers have cheated on their pregnant wives. Rooney was probably doinking prossies for years before he got caught

 why does it matter if they are pregnant?

Seems futile to be getting so upset about a player who is leaving in a few weeks, especially in an non important game as today's.
I prefer to judge him on his entirety and wish him good luck.

It's not about game today tbh. It's accumulation of these performances through the last 2 years that lead to my reaction.

The last time I enjoyed Wayne playing was LVG's first season.

I honestly think it would be madness for any PL side to sign him, he just can't cut it at this level anymore

It's getting to the point where it's actually cruel to keep playing him, ruining his reputation with every extra game.

That's the thing pal, giggs went down in my estimation for it. Don't care how common it is, it's one thing I've just never tolerated and when it's just footballers for the team I like it makes it easy to not give a toss about them.
