Is it just me or was he just booed when he took on that shot?
Yep, He was poor. He just doesn't add anything of note.

He wasn't great. The next game will show more where he is at. We don't know how easy England were taking it today or if they were just inept. He slowed the game down completely. Against a pacy side he will get overrun.Couldn't be bothered watching the game, surely he didn't play bad? Booed? That's quite sad to hear regardless
He took a shot that went miles over the goal and the crowd booed. Not sure if it was just for the standard of the attempt or if it was voicing their displeasure at his overall display. Why was he booed?
If he can't see that he is under pressure to perform and prove his doubters wrong against Malta, its either because he doesn't care and doesn't feel that he has anything to prove or he's just plain crap now or both. If there was anyone that needed to put in a performance against Malta it was Rooney. He wasn't great. The next game will show more where he is at. He needed to and he didn't. He could have bossed this game and at times I actually forgot he was there. If he can't see that he is under pressure to perform and prove his doubters wrong against Malta, its either because he doesn't care and doesn't feel that he has anything to prove or he's just plain crap now or both. I was looking at the player scores in the Daily Mail. He got 6 and they said he kept the game ticking over. Whaaaat? He was terrible tonight. How has Mark Noble not gotten a call up yet? Drinkwater or Barkley would have been a much better option than an aging out of form, out of position Wayne Rooney. The English just never learn.
I heard that this guy thought that Rooney was past it in 2012, so what gives now?Southgate has just confirmed Rooney will be starting and captaining the side against Malta ffs. What does it fecking take to drop this useless sack of potatoes? Ridiculous.

Hard not to conclude that he is holding back club and country.
'His ability to control games, his experience, because we know it's one where we will have a lot of the ball. In the last few matches have had 40 or 30 per cent of the ball so I expect us to be controlling the game.'
Lol. He was being booed at the stadium and you're having a go at us.The Anti Rooney Mob are destroying the caf for everyone else, any excuse to have a go at him is taken,he wasn't bad today but it was a boring game to watch but not as boring as the attack on Rooney has become...

Of Course I'm biased, I'm a Utd supporter and want all our players to do well.Hmmmm I can't put my finger on why but I feel you may be slightly biased.
Interesting username. The Anti Rooney Mob are destroying the caf for everyone else, any excuse to have a go at him is taken,he wasn't bad today but it was a boring game to watch but not as boring as the attack on Rooney has become...
It's true what he's saying though, the entire forum is obsessed with Rooney it's boringInteresting username.
It's not obsession. It's the fact he's really, like really bad and all us are fearing every game will he start or not. He doesn't even have enough to give from the bench imo. It's true what he's saying though, the entire forum is obsessed with Rooney it's boring
Yeah we all fear he might play so we talk about it all the time. It's not just his performance thread the majority of the main part of the forum is Rooney threads it's sad. It's not obsession. I mean after all this is his performance thread right? So people will comment on his performances and his performances are not good, to say it nicely.
It's maybe sad. But you know what else is sad? How his form has gone downhill so rapidly.Yeah we all fear he might play so we talk about it all the time. It's not just his performance thread the majority of the main part of the forum is Rooney threads it's sad.

Asides from how ridiculous that was, what kind of midfielder defends like that?
Indie:Rooney was like an old man watching his grandchildren frolic around in the garden. He was slow. He was indecisive
...but his selection appeared nothing less than indulgence, with the Manchester United player doing little to suggest he will become indispensable in a deeper role.
Where to start? Rooney, 31 in three weeks’ time, lacks the mobility to move the ball around quickly enough against quality opposition and there seems to be a confidence issue creeping into his game, with him rejecting any opportunity to receive the ball and run forward.
His efforts to justify his place in the team were also hardly helped by him being completely outshone by his midfield partner, who surely must start alongside Dier in Slovenia....With all the talk about Rooney starting in midfield again, his partner Jordan Henderson showed how the role should be played when the opposition give you all the time and space you need to display your full array of passing skills..
There are only 33 countries officially worse than Pietro Ghedin’s men.
And the sight of Rooney struggling to make his mark as a deep-lying midfielder ensured the jeers that greeted his confirmation as skipper before kick-off resurfaced towards the end.
If you think i'm happy he got booed, then you're on your own.and you seem pretty damn happy that a Utd player is getting booed.enough said, its all getting boring.

Cowardice or ignorance, possibly both.Mourinho has already nipped that in the bud. Southgate unfortunately........
