I did say in the last page that he was poor, there are no questions about that. He should be dropped. All the quoted post was, was to point out that he isn't the only problem and removing him won't magically make us Barcelona or real Madrid

dropping rooney would at least give us 11 players on the field in a game :D

There is a possibility Mourinho is intentionally starting him early on to justify himself dropping him completely later. I seriously cannot believe he deems him good enough for that team.

Sick and tired of him breaking down all our attacks. He is not a #10. When I see KDB play and then see Rooney stinking up the place, I feel like crying.

No one saying he is the only problem but he is one big one. But all that quoted text makes Rooney sound like a solution, including yours.

How is it that not a single interviewer asks Mourinho why Rooney keeps starting, or even things like does he need to improve and stuff like that? He's just such a terrible player these days

He simply has to be benched for a while, this is really getting ridiculous. Accommodating ta player who clearly isn't performing as well as he should be when we need goals was one of the downfalls of Moyes and LvG, Mourinho can't be so naive as to not see what's so obvious. He knows how crucial it is he succeeds here, surely he won't allow Rooney to keep starting when he's not contributing on the pitch in any positive way.

He can come off the bench and play in less important games but to be starting for us just because he's our captain is madness, just put the armband on De Gea or Zlatan and it won't be such an issue dropping him. LVG and Moyes refused to take an underperforming Rooney out of the team and it helped cost them their jobs in the end, I have faith Jose won't make the same mistake.

We all respect everything Rooney has done for the club over the years but his relentless grip on the starting eleven every week has been costing us for far too long now and we need it to stop. Rashford and Martial should both be starting up front ahead of Rooney, they will provide a much better balance up front with Ibrahimovic with Pogba and Herrera or Carrick playing in midfield. Ultimately we need to aim towards selling Rooney to a team in China or the MLS for whatever we can somehow get for him because paying him over £200,000 a week is nothing short of insane.

we are even making subs around him so he doesn't get subbed. Shaw was still an attacking threat, as worst rooney subbed for memphis makes more sense and if memphis didn't offer much, how's that any different to rooney staying on?

Everyone whose post you have quoted would readily drop Rooney if there is a better alternative. What I and others were pointing were the posts that we would stroll to victories without Rooney, which isn't the case.
Anyways it's a useless topic to argue on. Like I said, Rooney needs to be dropped for a few games, like he was vs Stoke last season to get his motivation back

Mate, I don't know anymore

Genuinely starting to despise him.

Ah bs, people said again and again they know Rooney isnt the only problem, like there's hundreds of posts of people saying it, but if you make a list of problems and rate them from biggest to lowest there is absolutely no doubt that Rooney is number one, hence the level of criticism.

He will start against Leicester, Mourinho would have taken him off if he had any intention of dropping him.

I seriously can't see a redeeming feature in his game anymore. Most of his defenders have noted his qualities lie in the things you can't see from a television broadcast, such as his leadership qualities. Well today that leadership was visible, a team that folded after going 2-1 down, a captain who would rather make a silly foul, waste time and pick up a yellow to have a moan, than try to win possession and actually try to find a way back.

And how fun it is to watch a player who's qualities aren't intended for those watching, only the educated elite coaches.

Read on twitter, in 4 years all the outfield players are changed except 1. Rooney, who is playing in the position that's very important in the attack.

I don't know why you are trying to pick an argument when we are in agreement. Probably leave it there.
Why now and not after one of his other horrendous performances did you decide to change your mind?

When discussing Mourinho's tactic through the past team, I pointed out the number #10 and #6 are the key of his midfield. Fellaini is limited in someway so the #8 and #10 have to make up for it. Turned out our current #10 was too worse than Fellaini (by this game) who in turned was employed deeper at time also terrible as #8, and too shit as #7 too. Checkmate

I think he'll be the only common problem in all of the 3 seasons, but won't be as the no.1 in any of those seasons. If he was the no.1 problem, we'd be seeing a drastic improvement without him in squad. Unfortunately there was none

Exactly. Nobody wanted that performance from Rooney but it at least highlights the stupidity of the post Feyenord debate.

Agreed, it's been obvious for a while that his supporters have run out of anything constructive to support him and have degenerated the debate into the whole "haters" nonsense. There's no defending the indefensible and they all know it.

Even by his low low standards, that was shockingly bad.

Away to Villa last season is the only performance I can compare today to.

Should be dropped indefinitely now.

Unfortunately they'll be many people lobbying for that line of questioning to be averted. Many people who have a financial interest in Rooney playing regularly.

And if De Bruyne isn't there, think of all the players they have that could play there. This makes it even worse for me...

Think of all the players in our team that could play there. That's what makes it worse.

I dont think Faria is a big fan...

I'm not allowed to embed.

For me it seems obvious that they have given him a chance to play himself out of the team and Rooney has taken it. He's not starting the next league-game.

Want to bet he does?

I genuinely think this is more complex than 'drop him'

There is no way LVG and Mourinho are seeing good things.

He has to have it written in his contract or something, he has to.

Just lipread what he said to the linesman when he got in his face , it's so bad I can't even put it on here. FA should be banning him for at least 10 games for that.

Spread the word

You going to twitter the FA?

I genuinely think Mourinho left Rooney at home against Feyenoord to see how we would fare without him. I think if we played really good, Rooney may have been on the bench today.

As it was, we weren't any better or worse without him. Now Mourinho doesn't know what to do, bless him.

Now that was a legendary performance

 yeah.

I think Rooney is always rubbish but that game and today are the ones where he genuinely looks like a competition winner who's won the chance to play for Utd.

As bad as his all round game is, I thought he looked woefully unfit today as well, utterly disgraceful from him. It's an embarrassment he's got so much hold and power at the club.

Specifically thinking of him having to run to keep a ball in play and being so knackered that he mis-controlled it out for a throw in.

Well I guess you could say he's not number one when looking at the club as a whole, you could look at transfer policy, managers, tactics, etc but when you look purely at the playing side, he is the number 1 Manchester United player who should not be playing for Manchester United. I don't think that can even be argued anymore.
