I'm sick of the sight of him. The nonsense Mourinho came out with about him never playing in midfield is clearly a lie. He'll be shoehorned in to the team no matter what. He'll end up playing in defence eventually. As long as Mr United is in the team and the marketing department is happy that's all that matters. So what if he's shit at football?
 
I really wanted to be able to say something positive about him today, and seeing he was starting wide I hoped he might be a bit better.

Alas.
 
He's utter shite, a complete waste of space. If we lose this then Mourinho might finally snap and ditch him.
 
So I take it all the thread bumpers from Thursday night will be back in today to comment on the massive improvement in our play now that the messiah is back in.
 
He's done three noticeably atrocious things so far. 2 passes to absolutely no one and one of the worst attempts at a shot I've seen.
 
He's the epitome of what's been wrong with United post-SAF. Slow, overpaid and overweight has-been constantly being our focal point despite being utter shit. We will never make significant progress until Rooney is booted out of the club.
 
Rooney is so bad he is holding us back so much it's actually depressing.
 
Well if we needed proof that Rooney needs to play we have one. First thing Mourinho said when came here is that he isn't a good midfielder and he won't play him there and five games later he is playing him in midfield, just to fit him in the team.
 
Average from him in the 1st half. Need to be involved a lot more in the second.
 
Shouldn't be playing, we all know he will continue to. Can't be arsed moaning about it anymore.

That left footed shot was shockingly bad, its his corners that really piss me off they are so so poor.
 
We will not win the league with him in the team. Unbalances the whole team, now matter where he plays
 
Does anyone think he's a better midfielder than Carrick, Blind or Herrera? If not, why he is playing there?

You can make an argument for playing over Zlatan or out wide but he's playing midfield now for the same reason he did for England at the Euro's and that's because he's Wayne Rooney.

I'd argue he needs to be involved less. The more our attacks bypass him, the better. All he ever bloody does is whack the ball up to Valencia.
 
Nothing changes. He plays. He does very little.. He might have a good moment once in 3 matches.
And to try and make the team work, we keep trying different systems/players and keep shoe horning him into the side
 
I dont see the point of him.
hes not driving the team as a captain.
His set pieces are shocking.
HIs shooting his passing.
hes dropping to the half way line to hit hollywood passes out to the wing that arent really in behind the opposition>

He will probably set up a goal in the second half and people will laugh and say hes back or some shit. But he epitomizes whats wrong with us.

Seriously? He did manage a lot of passes in attacking sense. 2 good passes to Rashford which lead to good attacks. Just because it's a trend to bash him doesn't mean we have to just focus on his negatives, which is not a lot in this game.
 
Genuinely wanted and expected him to impress me today but I guess I'll never learn then, eh?
 
He's not a midfielder which Mourinho has already admitted. But I'm guessing he didn't realise how poor he was as a 10 and striker. We're now at the stage where he gets selected because if who he is rather than what he can do.

Exactly. Its more of a trend to bash him even when there have been far worse performers today

Yeah that's the most significant point here. His performance is fairly predictable but Mourinho going back on what he said is very confusing.
 
Has Rooney been bad? Yes.
Has he been the only problem today? No
