If Chelsea offered us enough and we had a ready use for the money i think we'd consider it. PSG would be more to our liking of course.

It's all well and good people saying he'll stay but that is not a sentiment without cost, 25-37 million or so at current levels [assuming either an additional two or three years on the existing terms].

After seeing the difference signing Van Persie was to our campaign compared to City and Chelsea's do you really think we'd sell Rooney to either of them. It's be handing over the edge. No chance. He stays or he goes abroad. My money is on Madrid.

I'm not saying that we'd choose it or that it is one of the more likely options however you just never know with Abramovich's wallet. Hopefully they can be part of any bidding war though, ought to help push the price up nicely.

He'll stay. He never knew SAF was retiring

Correct.

One of the biggest problems with Rooney last year was SAF didn't think he was putting in a proper shift in training. He as good as said that a good few times during the season - 'Wayne needs matches' etc. SAF retiring and Moyes coming in will be a fresh start. It all just makes Rooney look stupid, which he is. I really think he'll still be at the club next season.

Needing games isn't the same as not putting in a shift in training.

Ah the famous Arsenal war chest, it's targeted everyone from Ribery to Benzema. Do they need to boost their ST sales again?

The only thing I would say is that Arsenal's cash balance last Summer was over £150m and is likely to be higher now. If there was ever a time to splash the cash it would be now (not that they'd ever double their wage ceiling to accommodate Rooney).

And yet, I can't think of any club in the world who wouldn't be better off having him in their squad, if not as an automatic choice in their first XI. Yes, even Barca, for all their talent would benefit from a Rooney in the ranks. A reliable 20+ a season goalscorer who can play anywhere and who won't kick up a fuss about being second fiddle? .

Apparently they're sitting on a huge transfer pot now that their stadium has been paid off, a couple of decent signings in summer and they might be a real threat next year especially with three new managers in the top three.

Wont matter, they could sign Ronaldo Messi and anyone else they like, as long as Wenger is there they will remain spineless and will bottle it at the first sign of real pressure.

Yeah...if Arsenal win the league next season I'll play the violin with my asshole, and post it on youtube.

To be fair, it's not that far fetched. They are a couple of signings away (we say this every year) from challenging, and I can see Wenger making those signings this summer. He'll see the uncertainty surrounding the rest of the top 4 and want to pounce on it.

So it is goo devil then!

Arsenal should have stabilit on their side but will they spend. Will go a long way to tell if the stadium was just cover for money making or if they are serious at trying to win things again.

The signings that he needs would not want to play for Arsenal, most likely. They have become a bit second rate now in all truth.

I wonder why no one had placed a bid for the White Pele yet

They need more than a couple to win it. They're eighteen points behind us in a season when we haven't even been that good, by our standards, and we stopped trying three weeks ago. Meanwhile City and Chelsea will go mental in the market and we won't stand still either.

Reckon they need five new players to win it.

just read this on Facebook, yeah OK its Facebook, make of it what you will.

Rooney 'hell bent' on leaving Manchester United.

The England international has told friends he is convinced there is 'no way back' for him at Old Trafford and is adamant that he will not work with former Everton boss David Moyes.

Unless he signs a new deal next season could be his last in England, therefore we shouldn't be surprised by transfers which seem out of character.

If he does stay it's going to be pretty awkward, the majority of fans probably won't forgive him.

I am still not sure what he's done wrong. The first story was about him having a private conversation with his manager directly about how he feels and that being perhaps his future is elsewhere.

Even if he has asked to leave, he has his reasons but, he hasn't done that in a disrespectful manner. So what is there to forgive? That he dare want to leave the United? There are few players in the world that stick to their club through thick or thin, especially if they didn't grow up with the club.

News to me that our stadium has been paid off!

I don't think fans will see it that way, he's getting enormous stick from the fans and just as much before the rumours were even confirmed.

I don't care, Wayne. Same as I do for anyone that wants to leave the best club there is. There's the door, thanks for everything. Be a dear and try not to drag it out.

I can totally understand why he would not want to play for someone who sued him (despite Moyes being the wronged party in that instance).

I thought he asked for a transfer around Xmas?

Arséne on Rooney rumours:

Wenger, however, insists he is only interested in securing a place in next season's Champions League by beating Newcastle on Sunday, and dismissed speculation that he is keen to bring the England international to north London.

"At the moment we have no interest in anybody. We have only one interest, which is of course Sunday's game," he said.

"I don't know if Man United will sell Rooney and that is the best sign to show you we have not made any approach for him because the first move is to contact Manchester United, which we did not do. At the moment we are focused on Sunday."

The Arsenal rumour is class. I won't rule out Rooney leaving, but Arsenal? Where do they come up with this shit?

Given Rooneys bottle job when faced with competition for a first team place for the first time, Id say he will be a perfect fit at Arsenal.

Bottom line is that we do not have to sell if we don't want to. We are in the position of strength this time IMO. If he leaves in this instance, it is because we are okay with him leaving.
