For those that might have missed it :

Even Mancini managed to pay tribute to SAF.

Next he will be announcing he didnt have fish and chips for dinner, Infact it was bangers and mash.

I would like to know what he's actually doing right now. Is he watching Eastenders and just thought he'd write that? On what planet is that an important statement? Jesus.

I don't think he thinks it's an important statement. It was just hyped up to be a bigger statement than it is by TalkSport and everyone on Twitter who got really excited. This seems more like a statement that Nike asked him to put up really.

I reckon that's the longest thing he's ever written himself. You'd think he'd be saving that record to type something that's not completely useless though.

Come on now Wayne don't you know you owe it to the Caf to answer the question that is at the top of their mind.

Sheesh.

wr8. :lol::lol:

When he does leave I can't wait for his attempt to defend him.

Well he's given us a decade of his best years. I'm not going to sit and abuse him and attempt to rewrite history when he does go. Defend him when posters attempt to rewrite history like has happened often with Tevez? Yes, I'll do that.

Obviously his publishers can't afford to scrap all those cover jackets of Wayne Rooney: My Decay. Oh, I meant My Decade...

that's it? that fat feck...

Come on, its not his fault the media built up his tweet as something important to the world , the fact he gets it in the neck for this is exactly why the media can pull this shit time after time, the blame never goes where it should.

They could always retitle it my decadence and throw in a £200 packet of fags with each copy

The least he could've done was pay tribute to the manager. Looks like he'll be sold, hopefully not to anyone in the PL.

Yup. They built up on twitter as a "major announcement on his future" when they had no idea what it would be.

And his tweets too, don't forget his tweets.

It's not that. It's just a stupid and bizarre bit of PR.

The statement has made it even more obvious that he wants to leave than if he said nothing at all.

It looks more like a statement that Nike made him release imo. If he had to do it himself, he'd just have taken to Twitter and said something there like he has in the past.

PS : He seems to have Tweeted the link as well.

Just sell him, and quick. Abroad preferably. I don't want a Summer of this shit.

yep, no sagas. Either stay, or go. Just make your mind up.

We have a new manager coming in who'll sit and talk to Rooney. This isn't going to be sorted out before Moyes takes over officially so I'd get used to the constant media stories about him leaving/staying/signing contracts.

Yes but what exactly is the point? If he ends up leaving, would it really matter that he deleted Manchester United player or whatever off his twitter bio? :wenger:

Like I said, it's probably just Nike who pushed him to release the statement because a lot has been made in the papers about Rooney changing his profile to the NikeAthlete thing. Nike probably just don't want to get involved in something so they asked him to put it up.

It would have been a quiet and unimportant enough statement and gone largely unnoticed if it wasn't hyped up to be something major on Twitter.

Statement has the exact effect that probably his and Nike PR wanted - they wanted people talking about that statement for more than an hour. That statement is going to be brought up again and again, by people, articles digitally and in print and on TV.

Nike it going to be mentioned more than once and now more than ever people are going to be noticing other Athletes twitter accounts and whether they have the Nike Athlete on there or not.

If there is something going on with Rooney leaving, I'd suspect right now United have asked him and his people to keep his mouth shut till after this weekend at the very least or at least once proper negotiations start at the end of the season.

Is there any harm in him coming out and saying don't believe the rummors about me leaving United? If he has the time to tweet about some PR bollocks then the least he can do is dismiss the transfer rumours. Just face it, Rooney's bit of a cnut.

Will the fans boo Rooney when he picks up his medal? Will be a strange situation.

Maybe he's been told by the club to shut up about it? He doesn't come out and deny rumors every time that he's linked away from United.

Or the more plausible thing is that he's been asked to not address the rumours in that United have already made a statement saying he is "not for sale" and that should be it.

What he does have control over though is PR related stuff to his sponsors - which they've taken full advantage of.

People are getting mad at him because they want clear answers but, none are going to be forthcoming - from United or Rooney. No one is getting mad at the club for not coming out with a clearer statement either - Rooney is an easier target, easier to hate.
