So the most versatile striker in the league can look as good as our specialist midfielders playing poorly. What does that say about anything?

Our specialist midfielders play poorly far too often? Play any of those three against Stoke and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have out performed Rooney.

If he did move to PSG, considering how rich they are, how much do you think we will get for him, £40m, £50m?

And if the rumours are true, unlikely, then there maybe some logic in buying Falcao, this would mean RVP playing deeper and Falcao being the focal point of our attack.

Seems sure of himself, what as he got to gain from saying something like that.

This is just nonsense. Selling Rooney to Falcao will make me really really angry. It's not going to be helped by us selling Nani and keeping Young and Valencia our first choice wingers. This really has the potential to be a quite terrible summer.

wr8, I am beginning to think the only reason you support United is Rooney. Which is a bit weird.

I would only accept something like:

Rooney >
Falcão, Goetze/Bale, Moutinho <

And that with the certainty that Rooney wanted to leave.

We are selling Rooney to Falcao?

How rich is this fecker and what does he want with our Wayne?

Well he is quite easily my favorite United player and I really want to see him finish as our top scorer of all time so this idea of selling someone as good and important as Rooney for Falcao seems infuriating. Specially when we need to strengthen in midfield and the wings and not mess around with a very good attack.

Not sure if he will go or not but I wouldn't entirely be surprised if he went.

I've always had a sneaky feeling since his contract shenanigans that a day would come when SAF would get rid on his terms.

At that point in 2010 we needed him and certainly SAF wouldn't have wanted Rooney to leave on Rooney's terms. I can only think of Ronaldo who has left against SAF's wishes and even then SAF got an extra season out of him.

This isn't my analysis of Rooney as a player because I think he's fantastic and probably one of the most productive players in the last decade. But SAF does move on very quickly and if he thinks Rooney's fitness is not what it should be he will sell him without batting an eyelid.

I like the legend that is Charlton being our top scorer personally, a man who is United through and through and has been through all the ups and downs with this club.

That's just me though.

I'd be a bit pissed off if we sold him. Doesn't make sense to me but what has this guy got to gain from making those claims up? It's odd. I'm hoping its rubbish...

So we all know who he is? Talking out of his arse whoever he is.

I can't believe people still think we would even contemplate selling Wayne Rooney, it's laughable to even suggest it.

You have loads of these "special advisers" and agents and "teammates of the player xyz" who make these sort of claims every window so I'm not too worried really. We'll be dealing with these Rooney rumours till the day he retires.

Whatever his agenda is I'm hoping its bullshit because I'd be really, really disappointed if we sold Rooney. In a season blighted by injury he still pulls of incredible goal/assist stats per min played. Our best player still imo.

Personally I'd love for Wayne Rooney to become our all time top goalscorer. I much as I respect the man, I wasn't around when Bobby Charlton played for United and thus hold little affinity towards him as a player. I'd love to be able to tell my children/grandchildren about United's all time top goalscorer Wayne Rooney when I'm older though, and I think SAF would be very welcoming (and deserving) of claiming the accolade of having a player achieve such a feat under his guidance.

I'm sure the older fans amongst you feel differently, which is understandable; but I'm sure also that you can understand us younger generations wishing for (more) legends of our own to look back fondly upon.

No one is bigger than the club,i,m not suggesting that he will be sold ,but i won't be surprised if the club cashes in on him.

Well the Rooney fan boys can calm down.

Wayne Rooney to sign new deal instead of joining Paris St-Germain

Wayne Rooney is likely to sign a new contract to extend his Manchester United career this summer, despite suggestions from France that Paris Saint-Germain have concluded a deal for the player.

It is understood that PSG’s Qatari owners would be interested if Rooney came on to the market, though they do not believe that situation will arise, or that Sir Alex Ferguson would sanction the sale of one of his top players to a potential Champions League knock-out stage rival.

The relationship between Rooney and Ferguson does appear to have thawed since the player was omitted from the starting line-up for the Champions League tie with Real Madrid last month and the prospects of contract talks beginning this summer are strong.

There do not appear to be any plans to move for a striker to present Rooney with competition for places, contrary to suggestions of the club scouting Atletico Madrid’s Radamel Falcao. There are no plans to move for Falcao.

The latest round of speculation about Rooney’s future was triggered by an emphatic suggestion by Michel Moulin – who worked briefly as an adviser to PSG in 2008 – that a deal for Rooney was “done”. Moulin, owner of French weekly sports publication Le 10 Sport, said on French TV: “I announce to you from trusted sources: Rooney to PSG is done. He will be at PSG next season.” Rooney has been linked with the French club constantly in recent weeks, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva urging him to join them in Paris.

But despite Moulin’s certainty, the comments were widely discredited. Moulin launched his sports publication on the back of a freesheet ad paper, and it has no track record for original information.

4 years younger tells me they'd be paying more tbf.

Well it'd be three years at a time of transfer, so perhaps you could add extra €10m but then again I reckon Zlatan's reputation was higher than Rooney's at the time of transfer but I might be wrong.

No chance. Right or wrong, Rooney has a bigger reputation. I'd reckon about €10m extra too.

I think The Mirror are claiming the move to PSG is a done deal  just goes to show they dont have a fookin clue.

2 days from now they'll run an exclusive about Rooney entering contract talks with United to extend his deal.

The next game was a fortnight later. It's obvious he was rushed back because it was such an important game. Doesn't make the original diagnosis any less correct. Even a minor sprain could take three or four weeks to heal fully.

The rest of your post is just anecdotal nonsense. If your ankle is healed properly you should be sprinting and accelerating as normal. If you feel cautious that's your problem. It's irrelevant to Rooney's game. You're not an elite athlete being advised by a top physiotherapist.

Actually, it was 8 days later. As I said, either diagnosis was poor, or we rushed him back.

Bold part: Pay attention to the word "properly". I don't see Rooney's ankle being healed properly by rushing him into playing most important game of the season just 8 days after injuring his ankle ligaments.

Of course I am not elite athlete, I pointed out that.

It will only make sense if we sign a big name midfielder along with Falcao, that's just not happening though.

Weird for that guy to come out with such a definite statement, at any rate I am not too worried, if Rooney is sold I'm sure Fergie will have someone ready to come in, if Rooney stays then we keep a quality player.

Fergie shipped out Nistelrooy, Stam, Ince, and Beckham with no reserves. Although it's hard to see who's worthy to be Rooney's replacement. It will take every pennies we generate from Rooney's sale to get as good player as him. And no guarantee that it will work out either (see Veron, Berba).

Unless Mata is getting tired with that lot, and wants a 'fresh' challenge.

He also sold Ronaldo and brought in Valencia. Nobody can say there's no way we'd sell Rooney, whilst there are also no guarantees that a like-for-like replacement would be brought in if we did.

rooney is not indispensable but he still got a lot more to offer for the team. plus, he is arguably our best attacking player so i prefer if we keep him. ferguson's record suggest he can sell whoever he wants and still can win tittles and trophies so you got to trust him in whatever he is doing, but like i say above i prefer if we keep rooney and sign another one or two world class players.

Paris St-Germain's hopes dashed as Wayne Rooney hints that we wants to pledge his future to Manchester United
Wayne Rooney is determined to resist opportunities to leave Manchester United this summer and begin negotiations over a long-term contract to keep him at Old Trafford until his early thirties. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...o-pledge-his-future-to-Manchester-United.html

You saw the future wr8 :D
The media are so pathetically indecisive!

Agreed. We rarely get ones like for like.

You are fecking ridiculous.

That's a fair point, but I'm with the other side, and not purely because I don't like Rooney. Sir Bobby is United to the core, he lives and breathes United, and to be honest, apart from Giggs and Scholes who of our current squad can we say that about? The reason most if not all of the rest stay at United is to line their pockets and win trophies, and if better opportunities to do both were available they would be off in a heartbeat. And that's fair enough, football as a whole decided it was more a business than a sport a long time ago so we have to be that way to compete. But Id rather the all time scorer was a United man so to speak rather than just an employee.

tbh, wr8 creepiness isn't new.....nadal and sneijder too. i still think he's a bot though.
