Given we have no money my guess is they would have to fork out a pretty big fee in order for us to be able to buy replacement RB in January.
Agreed, he won't go that cheap. Will be interesting to see if this is really a go-er.

They can pay 15m for him and we can bring Dest in on peanuts. But that affects feck all as I'd like to be optimistic on our ownership giving us lots of ££ next summer anyway.
OGS. No thought, daft, ill-considered, sloppy purchase. A shame, because you're correct, you watch this guy for 15mins and you can see his limitations. You can't ask Wan Bissaka to be the first choice Right Back at one of the world's biggest clubs. It's not fair on him.

I don't think Ten Hag will let him leave while having no other backups for Dalot. He can recall Laird but he hasn't exactly been great for QPR.
Think he could leave if there's a decent fee involved and then we'd look for scraps in the loan market (I take it Laird doesn't have a recall option).

If AWB is sold we will invest in that position. ETH is making do for now, I'm pretty certain he isn't his type of player.

We aren't a club that are active or creative on the transfer market, but if we could get say 25m for AWB, it does not seem overly far fetched to expect us to bring in a loan player to provide some back-up at RB and then spend most of that 25m where its needed the most. Hector Bellerin isn't leaving the bench for Barcelona. Dest have only started 8% of the games for AC Milan. He can't be happy with that. Looking around the football world, there will be discontent experienced RBs with a fairly high salary not playing a ton that teams would love to unload for 6 months.
I am not a big fan of Laird, but away from the toughest match-ups he could definitely put in the work for 90 minutes for us as long as he doesn't face the stiffest competition at LW.

I can't help but to think Laird would be better served training with our first team and being coached by ETH. Van der Gaag is a defensive tactician which is where Laird needs to develop, we all know he's good going forward, but he needs to fix quite a few things in order to develop into a sound full back.
If we get something like £25M for him now then it will be very tempting to sell although I think ETH will want to keep him till the summer as cover for Dalot.
Might explain why Sancho has been having intensive 1-to-1 training. They're going to bring him back as a Right Back

A bit torn on this one, if there's an offer on the table for say 15-20m this window I think that is an offer we should accept IF those money are earmarked to be reinvested into the squad.
Ethan Laird could perhaps be recalled to be the backup without a huge drop off in quality - my impression is atleast that he's performing decently/good at QPR this season. Of course, in the big matches if Dalot is injured, Wan Bissaka might be the more viable option than Laird, but I do believe that Laird aint that much worse than AWB as a backup-option.

I’ve seen us linked to Juranovic from Celtic today, with a move dependent on us finding a buyer for AWB.

Guess he would be cheaper than Walker-Peters, however feel we might wait for more options to become available
I can’t see them paying more than £10m. He’s probably only valued at about that on our balance sheet.
Balance sheet is book value based on amortized cost since the time of signing. For eg, De Gea is valued at 0. Not a reflection of what his market value is - which I'm guessing is anywhere between 20 and 40m depending on how desperate the buying club is?

His recent performances have shown he's capable of contributing to the way ETH wants to play. It feels like a lot of the calls for him to be sold have more to do with his failure to live up to his price tag than they do with his actual ability.
Whether we sell a play should be based on their ability to contribute, their wage and how much we could get for selling them. It shouldn't be based on whether fans feel bitter about how much they cost.

He's done pretty well under Ten Hag over the last few games considering he looked barely a footballer at times last season. Maybe all he did need was some time out to clear his head and some actual coaching/direction from above.

Yeah, I’m oversimplifying / conflating concepts there I think. Balance sheet value is amortised value (or cost) over the player’s contract length. Not sure how it works when a player gets a new contract without being sold.
Market value is supply and demand but obviously remaining player contract term comes into that being as clubs are more willing to “supply” when their asset is diminishing (i.e. player is running down contract).
I don’t see anyone paying more than about £10-£15m for AWB. Hope we get as much as we can if we’re going to sell him.

We don’t need to be spending an another RB. AWB and Dalot cover all bases between them, keep them both involved and confident and we have no problem.

Can’t have 50m cover. He deserves to be a starter when on form so he really should move. This just ensures we don’t get clubs making cheeky bids of 15m or other such nonsense

We actually really need him; he's not going anywhere. Dalot is having fitness issues and invariably form has to then be factored into that. Meanwhile, Wan Bissaka is getting better by the game, expressing himself and proving to be a solid understudy.
It'd cost more to replace him with an equivalent after selling than it would to keep him until the summer, at least.
There's also the fact he's game-ready and coached into what the manager wants as opposed to anyone we could target having to find their feet in a new team/club/country/way of playing/demands. Take your pick.
We're in the midst of a precarious, season-determining run of games now, which means the less disruption, the better, so the upheaval of what is currently our starting RB leaving is just not prudent.

We can use that money elsewhere. Not saying we’ll get 50m but this is when a smart club sell him. No use in waiting until he falls away again and we get half the fee we could get now.
Dalot is barely injured. As soon as he comes back we’ll be lucky to see AWB twice a month.
He was excellent today. I wouldn't be selling him for 20 million. Unless an absolute world class right back becomes available and we have the funds we should keep him. Priority for the summer will be centre midfielder and striker. Happy enough otherwise with him.
We can if AWB is happy to play that role. No one is gonna pay 50 mil for him and if we get, say, 25 mil for him we’d have to spend that to bring in a backup anyway. I would imagine he’s gonna back himself to get back the first choice position after todays game so he has the second half of the season to prove himself.
