ARSENE WENGER last night warned that Theo Walcott’s contract talks need a swift resolution.
Arsenal boss Wenger is certain the England winger, 23, who has a year left on his deal, will commit to the club before transfer D-Day.

He said: “Talks continue and we will try to sort it out one way or the other.

“We want to keep him but you need not only our desire. His desire is also right too but we need to find an agreement.”

I see links with City - and I'd be delighted if they wasted money and effort on him.

Nothing like the calibre of player of RVP, Nasri, Fabregas and the like who've left Arsenal for trophies. I think Walcott has probably found his level at a club just short of winning things.

He's never really been suited to Arsenal's technical play IMO. That said, I'm not sure where he could go. Can't see any decent club coming in for him. Not unless he's happy to be sat on the bench anyway.

Nani possibly on his way out? Direct, cheaper replacement? Has an understanding with van the man, and it'd piss off Arsenal fans even more...

Never gonna happen, mind.

Wouldn't mind him at United for 10-12 mil.

Still think he can be a very good player.

Wait, people moan about Nani's inconsistency yet some are suggesting Walcott?

Guys..

I don't think he's got the mental strength to ever go on to be a top performer.

Neither do I to be honest, didn't see any club being interested in him that'd be a step up from Arsenal, but City being City are apparently interested.

Realistically I think he's only be a squad player at a club challenging for the title. Doesn't have the pure threat of a Nani nor the base quality/work rate of a Valencia. By all accounts he still has ambitions off being the central striker but I just can't see that role for him. Much like Hernandez I think strikers at the moment at the top clubs need a really good alround game that he doesn't have (yet). Still even as a squad player he'd get plenty of games at most clubs and could become a great impact player. In the pl, Chelsea could be good for him if he did leave Arsenal.

Newcastle or Spurs would both be good clubs for him. I think he's a good player and still has room for improvement. Don't see why City would be in for him, but it would give them a different option on the wing purely because of his pace.

Surely he's better off staying at Arsenal rather than joining either of them clubs?

What's wrong with Arsenal that all their players leave?

Not all players leave to better things. Maybe the Arsenal board don't want him anymore. Maybe he just wants a new challenge. They're both clubs on the up and his style arguably suits them more anyway.

Lionel Messi has described Walcott as "one of the most dangerous players I have ever played against."

Pep also famously played grand theft auto with Walcott declaring that “you would need a pistol to stop him.”

Walcott as Nanis replacement.

Really need a facepalm GIF for that. Worst suggestion on Caf since Jamie Redknapp for manager.

I wont believe he is leaving till Pete Storey comes in and says it not true.

Always thought he performed well in Europe, but maybe that's due to a small sample of games I've seen.

The way I see it. We face annoyingly high lines all the time because we have no pace to get in behind defences. Makes it very easy to squeeze us out of the game, especially away from home. Just having Walcott in the team will either force defences to sit a bit deeper and give our creative players more space, or he'll get numerous opportunities at getting behind their defence.

That's why we pursued Sinclair and are now looking at Walcott.

People forget that he is only 23 years old. For the past 2 seasons he has managed 20+ goals and assists which is pretty decent for a player whom is highly underrated.

Compare that to Sinclair of the same age, who managed 30 (in the championship though and Walcott managed 25 that season in the prem) and last year only 12.

Johnson who is 2 years older than both managed only 16 and 11 respectively.

Tbh, with stats like that, Walcott is worth his 'inconsistency' as a squad player for a top team. He'd probably replicate those stats on a more 'consistent' basis for a lower side. I'd definitely take him if he was available to us.

should have joined us over arsenal. were we not in for him too?

Dont think we were ever in for him, we may have ran the rule over him but there didnt seem to be anything concrete that I can recall - cue someone posting a link in 5,4,3,2,1........:)

Who said that FFS  Its actually ludicrous....... :nono:

Yet more speculation linking him to us in the papers today.

Typical for the red tops they reckon a swap deal with Nani could be on the cards.

Imagine if we signed him and he turned out to be instant and consistent downgrade on Nani. We won't have to if we sign him.

I'd take Walcott. He's got a lot more to his game than people give him credit for and he scores goals too. I think he'd thrive at a club like United.

This would be the transfer equivalent of watching Allardyce and Brucie skip hand in hand down a nudist beach.
