Apparently Tierney could be in line for a start if Silvestre doesn't come through in time after his injury on Sat.

It's good to see youth being given a chance rather than making strange rearrangements and playing established first teamers out of position.

Hopefully a good win is on the cards tonight.

Hopefully a win, but don't hold your breath mate. Boro will come to frustrate us and we have zero options on the bench that can win us the game should it be 0-0 with 25 mins to go.

We should do them. It's Veron's big chance to shine and stamp his hallmark on a game at last. I can't help wondering whether the absence of Keane might not be a relief to a few of the players - Phil Neville especially. Keane's absence may be a blessing in disguise in the short term and if Veron can step up hopefully the time without our captain will be more successful than it usually is.

Boro always makes it tough for us, and I'm very doubtful about us tonight.

Betfair is offering 31/1 in odds for 2-1 to Boro - I've put £50 quid on that, and another £50 on a draw

I hope I'm £100 poorer come tonight

i think you will be

with 4-4-2 i'll go for 2-0 even though they will do what they did last season and try to bore the game to death

You get 8/1 on us winning 2-0 Ruddy

Just put £25 pound on Maccarone to score as well @ 4/1

Well, if Boro win 2-1, I'll get £1500

If Boro win 2-1 and Pasta man scores, I'll win £1600

If we draw I'll win £250

If we draw and pasta man scores I'll win £350

And if we win and pasta man scores I'll win £100..Or only lost £25 ;)

I really hope so, I cant stand another wind up match against these lot <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> </strong><hr></blockquote>
Doubt it, why change your winning tactics? Its worked for liverpool, and worked for the hungarians away, as well as themselves last season. We've done nothing close season to change the results of these games either, which is worrying - I don't know what we'll do differently tactically tonight, but we need to find a way of dealing with packed defenses soon.

I thought United didnt play badly at all against Chelsea or Sunderland, we just didnt take our chances.
Ive got a sneeky feeling RVN is due a big perfomance and we might see it tonight <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

Let's hope so, I think we've played quite well this season as well.

I'd like to see Tierney get a chance to play, see how he handles premiership level football - he's bound to be hungry and determined, will be interesting to see how he fares.

If Sir Alex reckon Tierney is good enought to handle it, then he will play.

Anyone going to do an official United vs Boro thread????

What's the difference exactly?

So, assuming that Butt is still not ready, I suppose the team tonight will be:

-------------------- Carrol ----------------------

--- PNev ----- Rio -------- Blanc ---- Tierney ---

-- Forlan ---- Becks ----- Veron ------ Giggs ----

------------ RVN ----------- Solskjaer -----------

That'll do for me, a 3-1 victory for us tonight! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Got my ticket - i will be there, i just hope theres a bit more excitment than last time.

If they come to try and frustrate us we should just throw everything we have at them - an early goal would make a great game whoever scores.

I'm going to predict 3-1 to us; we are due a decent win in the prem.

I've never seen him so I couldn't say. But he's crap for one night only.

We've struggled against Boro in recent seasons so hopefully tonight we can put them in his place. There a side who should be able to live with us, but lets be honest 2 individual mistakes cost us last year.
Blanc in the FA cup and Seba in the league.
RVN is due a goal, its not like he playing badly it just hasn't happened so far.
As for Tierney, i don't know much about him but i would have prefered to have his first start in less of a pressure game but i guess him he's gotta start somewhere and atleast it at OT so the crowd will be behind him.
The team have got to pull together and show the spirit that made us the biggest club in the world

Becks--Butt/Stewart--Veron--Giggs

Stewart played really well against Ipswich last season until he had to go of injured so i'd like to see him given another chance

I'll put me 50 quid on Heskey scoring before the end of next season (training included). It's the only chance of me getting rich.

Unless Fergie goes all adventurous and plays a sort of 4-3-3.

I wonder if there's any chance at all of Ricardo starting

Fergie is talking about Lee Roche playing.

So Phil Neville must be playing at left back or Silvestre is fit and Fergie's had enough of Philip. I can't see both Tierney and Roche starting.

Isn't Tierney a midfielder?
