Vitali Klitschko v Dereck Chisora

At first I thought this was just put on to promote a fight betwenn Chisora and Haye. The British Board of Boxing are now saying that Chisora could face a ban for life and that Haye does not currently have a boxing licence, having retired last October.

So we have:

- The journalist asking the question in the first place prompting the response from the manager which brought about the fight

- Haye hitting him with a bottle - If the bottle made from is sugar glass, why didn't it smash?

- Booth emerging from the exchange being Tripoddled with blood on his head

- Chisora shouting out he will shoot David Haye and burn his body

- Chisora being arrested and detained by the police, and then released without charge

- Two fighters who no-one gives a feck about whatsoever

Seems to be some unbelievable planning in the works there, and they've gone to a great deal to organize this for two boxers who no-one cares about. Does it not seem a bit elaborate to stage all of that, for those two? I know the point is to hype up a match, especially if there interest isn't there, but all of that effort to see Haye vs Chisora? Having the journalists, Vitali's manager, the German police and The British Boxing Board of Control all involved at different stages was a really good touch though in making this seem real.

Of course it was staged, the German Police contact interpol for shits and giggles all the time.

"There are many powers to them but let's just get there first before we speculate what we're going to do."

Haye does not have a BBBofC licence, having officially retired in October, so the governing body is unlikely to be able to sanction him, but they will continue their investigations into the weekend's events today.

Smith said: "I'm on my way to the office. I have to speak to the chairman of the boxing federation and the German police, the authorities, to see what the situation is with regard to them over there, and then obviously take the appropriate action.

"I will have to gather all the information from those authorities and put them before the main board of control.

"I've spoken to a number of stewards already and I've spoken to the chairman on a number of occasions, and I'll put something out as soon as possible today, but it certainly will entail a hearing, a disciplinary calling - certainly for Mr Chisora because he is a licensed boxer. David Haye is a retired boxer - he's no longer a licence-holder with us."

Right, I think at this point we can confirm it wasn't staged, or it's into conspiracy territory. Could get pretty bad for both of them.

But he was holding a GLASS bottle! No boxer would do that and risk his career.

Well, it looks like Haye did. Isn't that surprising to be honest, given it's David Haye.

Staged jail sentences coming up shortly. Great publicity for their upcoming fight.

I can't wait. The budget for the promotion alone has blown me away, I've no idea what they are going to do for the actual fight. Maybe have Chisora shoot Haye, consume him, and then become him, only for Mike Tyson to burst out of his skin?

Holy shit. Maybe it was planned after all! It was all fabricated to bring about the first ever televised prison fight!

Obviously Chisora is a complete nob but I don't get why people are piling almost all the blame on him. Its pretty much a given in boxing when theres a 'grudge match' and you're hyping it up that you'll square up with your opponent so I don't really blame him for walking up to Haye. Haye threw the first punch, he had a bottle in his hand and threw a camera stand at them.

If in cold blood Chisora threatened to shoot Haye I'd take it more seriously but he'd been rocked and wasn't really in control so I'd give him a pass on that threat.

If I had my way Chisora would be banned from boxing for 6-12 months and Haye should be banned for life. Assuming it wasn't all set up ofc, then they should both be banned for life.

A 6-12 month ban for Chisora won't sting enough, as he would probably wait that long before his next fight anyway. In essence, he could just train during that time and not lose out. A 2-3 year ban would be more suitable given his cumulative antics (slapping spitting, threatening etc). Haye should just be banned for life and should also face a criminal charge.

Yeah I do see your point, maybe I was being a bit lenient because I am giving him a pass on the threats since it was while he had been rocked and probably didn't know what he was saying properly. The spitting and slapping is what I thought a 12 month ban would be suitable for but like you say it could be a little short on the scale of boxing fight scheduling so you're probably right.

Remember you are only looking at a ban in the UK and Germany. Both fighters will be able to fight and make money elsewhere. There are many places in America that will most likely license the fighters.

Considering the boxing authorities(American in fairness) gave Margarito only a 1 year ban for having loaded hand wraps(had traces of plaster) I don't see anything other than a huge fine for both.

Agreed. Not sure why people are finding it so hard to believe that this wasn't staged.

I'm not saying that the whole thing was staged with both parties involved, but there is no way that bottle was made out of glass. It doesn't make sense for many different reasons.

As a professional boxer, where your hands are rather important, would you risk punching something holding a glass bottle, rather than dropping it or putting it down first?

Why did he have water in a glass bottle in the first place instead of a plastic one? Come on, he's not in a restaurant here.

There is no way that a boxer would attempt to punch someone with a glass bottle in his hand.

If the whole thing was staged or not, or whether it was just Haye causing trouble, there is no way that that bottle was made of glass.

BBC Sport - David Haye admits holding a glass bottle in Dereck Chisora brawl

So, it turns out it was a glass bottle.

I was and in terms of boxing even after his horrow show against Kiltshko David Haye's biggest fan. Having said that this whole circus after Del Boy's fight was ridicolous and reeked of desperation for attention. David Haye cannot expect to retire and then automatically recieve a world title shot however poor the division is. That Povetkin won at weekend against another blown up Cruiserweight, so i imagine he will probably fight one of the Klitshko's next.

Something needs doing about the division though- it's like the Scottish Football of boxing.

Been banned indefinitey and asked to attend anger management classes.

When David Haye took out his toe after that fight I never wanted to see him in the ring again. Huge embarrassment to our sporting nation.

Looks like he's singing him a ballad.
