Liverpool probably didn't want to risk a points deduction / transfer banOdd to see a club actually pursue a formal complaint over a transfer when it's widely known to be the standard procedure. Southampton wanting to lodge and Liverpool's pathetic apology makes me think they had some solid evidence which could land them in trouble.
