Haven't you now smashed your previous transfer record twice in the last six months? I think it's almost certain that's down to the incoming Coutinho money. It'd be weird otherwise.

It might not be all that bad though. If Barcelona want to give you crazy money and you can get three good players in return them maybe it's for the best.

Apart from VVD no. Andy Carroll will have signed for us 7 years ago next Jan for 35m from Newcastle. Very poor transfer as it happens.

This ignores the fees they paid for Clyne, Moreno and Lovren.
I expect all three to be gone in the summer.

Vvd rectifies how little we've invested in defence under Klopp. Before this we'd turned a 16m profit on defender ins and outs under Klopp ffs. This was well overdue.

Conte and Guardilola wanted VVD as well. Which shows that he is probably quite good. Only time can tell whether he is worth the money.

He is. He's a very good defender. Now Liverpool can't use the excuse of personnel for having a woeful defence, let's see.

We shall see

I feel the same as most on here: good buy for Liverpool, Clop a hypocrite.

Impressive the way they wrapped it up sharpish this time, avoiding another saga. Southampton must be pleased with the fee.

It was always going to be wrapped up fast considering he’s been dropped the past few weeks. After that you’d knew he was basically off as you don’t drop your best defenders.

Honestly? Vertonghen, Bailly, Kosceiny, Kompany are better.

He isn't a leader to those who say that you are completely lying
I genuinely believe he's better than most on that list. Alderweireld and Azpilicueta are the only ones that I think are a level better than him. Unfortunately, Kompany cannot keep himself fit for 10 minutes.

The PL isn't blessed with quality CBs

It was probably mostly wrapped up last summer, just a bit of face saving from Southampton at the time, much like Coutinho to Barca will be this coming summer.

Wanting him is one thing. Obviously neither were willing to spend £75m on him. Would've been a luxury signing for either City or ourselves. Both are well stocked at CB.

Wow is this real life? 75Million is more than we paid for Rio and Vidic together he is a good player but is he feck a 75mill player.

Funny though as this thread seems to be turning out the liverpool supporters even if some are pretending they support Utd.

The good thing about this is now all you pool fans can shut the feck up about our spending and so can the Ecstasy Fiend, He is going to get ripped to shreds by the gutter press next season as VVD is not going to make Klopp better at in game management or his substitutes any earlier.

If this guy flops it could set liverpool back a way as that would also mean klopp would be gone!

Klopp and the Kop will have nothing to hide behind for being a shit 1 plan Ecstasy munching bunch of thundercunts.

 Give me strength.

They've still got Keita lined up as well for the start of next season. If they do sort their goalie out, next year actually could be their year!
I hope it isn't but I can't deny that they building something.

Why don't Liverpool and Southampton just merge and call themselves Liverton or Southpool or some shit like that?

Well, they're shit hot going forward with Lallana and Mane as backups. They just need to sort that backline out.

Hopefully Coutinho buggers off to Spain.

He's as good as gone. The Coutinho money has paid for Keita and VVD in one swoop. They probably have some change for a bargain player from the Bundesliga

Those figures are wrong

Okay, well they were the figures reported across 95% of reputable media outlets at the time of the deals. Perhaps your figures are wrong?

If you really go through the other top teams in the PL, Liverpool were the only ones who even made sense for him. City, Chelsea, and United are very well stocked at CB and all would have to either bench or offload good players for only a negligible improvement. Arsenal nor Spurs would even be sniffing around Van Dijk at this price range.

Calling it now. He won’t make a tremendous difference, certainly not to the tune of £75m. I think their style and Klopp’s in-game management will lead to results akin to the Arsenal, Watford, Sevilla, etc, kind of games regardless.

Transfermarkt is messed up right now. Says Keita was bought for £67M when everything at the time said £48-51M

Pretty sure it was £50 million + 10 million premium for signing him early.
