Vinicius Junior

No thread bump for the Champions League winner's best player and should be current favourite for the Ballon D'or unless Bellingham PR campaign steals it from him.

He is inevitable. Voiced my opinion on him enough times in this thread, but his certainty is the best of any attacker that is active that I can think of - guy is who I'll expect to do something to turn or win a game every time he fields.

Remember when he was known as a serial bottler and Benzema told his team mates not to pass to Vinicius? Very remarkable development.

He should be the favorite for the Ballon d'Or right now. Kroos and Bellingham could still get infront of him if Germany/England win the EC and Brazil does not win the Copa. Every other candidate (those who won domestic titles) would need to have a truly standout performance at the EC/CA.

Mourinho made this point post-game. Said his sights for the area there or thereabouts the goal has shown enormous improvement and that before, he didn't have that eye for the goal area, which I think means at least making the keeper work or that his misses now are so narrow and almost goals.

It was reported that he was ill as well

Can’t find a gif, but that one dribble where he gets past Hummels and then nutmegs the other Dortmund defender. Brilliant.

What’s his record in knockout stages of the CL now? Feels like he’s always scoring in the deep stages for Madrid now.

Involved in 22 goals in the KO stage: 11 goals and 11 assists. Before turning 24 and scoring in two finals also before turning 24. New record apparently.

At this rate he’ll surpass both Ronaldo and Messi’s goal tally in the CL. Still a long way to go but incredible nonetheless.

Love how easily he controls the ball. Those 60 yard cross field pings from the back and he just takes it down so smoothly.

Quality player, would love him at Utd.

That bit of play where he was running at almost full tilt towards the touch line, stopped the ball dead and then did that filthy nutmeg was absolutely extraordinary and ridiculous. He’s electric, a livewire and I don’t think any team can keep him quiet for the whole 90 minutes. The geezer is a certified baller. A joy to watch much more than mbappe. The skills, the tricks, the flicks, the dribbles, a proper proper Brazilian, a throwback to the old times.

The assist for the first goal

A very simple but deadly and effective player.

I have never seen him go backwards with a football.

Not sure he's simple. In fact, he definitely isn't. He constantly gives markers different looks, different angles and constant turns of speed as and when he feels like. He goes outside and to the byline: he cuts inside; he passes and he shoots all in one flowing movement. Worst of all for opponents is he gets better and better as they tire and mentally fatigue.

He's got to be the hardest winger in the world to contain or plan for.

Very impressive. As you say, still some way to go before he hits routine hat-tricks against Simeone’s Atletico or Juventus every season, but he has really stepped it up. Inevitability about him like Fortitude says.

In an era when Flair players are slowly being coached out the game. This guy is great to watch. When he gets one v one with the full back. He is very hard to defend. He is my kind of winger. Never afraid to take the full back on. So positive when he gets the ball

I think he's brilliant to watch, he's a flair player that has the productivity element and delivers on the big stage. I can see why you paid a big outlay for him initially.

Without a doubt the best player in the world for me at the moment.

Ronaldo has over 100 so he's got a fair way to go.

I have to say though I'd not really watched Madrid much but in this year's knockouts I think he's been brilliant, really exciting player to watch as well.

Great player, deserves the praise after the season he has had.

Real Madrid, what a club, they seem to be able to replace their best players with ease. You think they will decline after losing Ronaldo, Benzema etc but they always replace and develop players so well.

He's just electric. Extremely hard to contain as a defender.

Funny how his development trajectory went though. He was ridiculed for being ineffective and terrible at finishing couple of seasons ago. He's matured since then and has become a big game player.

It's been a common trend for Brazilian attackers to fade away after a few years on top. Let's see if he can break this trend.

I wonder if we'll see him in the Premier League one day. He'd be so exciting to watch week-in week-out.

He will be so disliked by every fan not supporting his club and every pundit. The manners and the diving will see to that. He would absolutely destroy right backs on a weekly base and receive a lot of kicks from players who were made look stupid. I doubt referees would protect him much...

We see diving every week from players like Paqueta, so I can't imagine we'll be too rattled by Vinicius. This isn't 1995.

The showboating would also offend some weirdos in Britain.

Vinicius, is not a flair dribbler like Neymar or Messi, doesn't do step overs like Ronaldo but he's extremely direct and simple.
His biggest asset has been pace but now his decision making is on par with KDB that combination alone is what makes his very hard to contain.

The different looks, angles, turn of speed, cutting inside, going to the by line is nothing spectacular if not done at the right time.

Then now he believes in his abilities, he knows not many defenders can outpace him. So mentally he knows he's better than the rest.

Now, Add his pace, decision making and the mental belief that he's better than you = to disaster for you as a defender

As someone said on this thread, Vinicius is what Rashford thinks he is.

Pace - Rashford and Vini probably on the same level. Everything else Vini is a tier above Rashy by some mile.

…..OK.

Messi is probably the best dribbler of all time, but he is not a flair dribbler, he doesn't really do tricks.

Ronaldinho wouldnt agree. Flair players just remember that they once started to play football because it is fun.
Agree. As would Neymar, Garrincha, Maradona, Denilson and all the great dribblers in the game.

Yeah he's relentless. And he is absolutely devastating off the ball as well, so defenders can't ever drop focus on him for an instant

Remember a few years ago he mentioned taking Mane as the example to follow, in terms of playing style, and not gonna lie, I got hard when I read that interview
