There’s nothing remarkable about it. He was a 20 year old kid at that stage having been in Spain for barely eighteen months.
All that’s happened is that he’s developed into the player they were suggesting he would be as a teen in brazil.
He’s only 23, and he’s consistently been the best attacker in the world for 18-24 months.

There has only been two players better than Neymar this last decade to be fair.
Neymar is undoubtedly more talented than Vini but the latter is in for the BdO because he plays a key role on a better team. Neymar never stood a huge chance for BdO because he played in Brazil until age 21, then made a dumbass decision to join Ligue 1 at age 25. His window to win the BdO was effectively his 4 seasons in La Liga but he was probably unhappy to be in Messi's shadow. If he made better choices his career would have panned out differently, no top player should join Ligue 1 in their prime.
Vini is highly emotional and loses his cool easily when taunted by racists, this leads to inconsistent performances. I do find him very likeable for not backing down and calling Spain racist at every opportunity continental Europe tends to pretend they aren't as racist as USA, Vini is fighting the good fight.

Not sure I've seen many people say that. Neymar was levels above Vini.
That said, he'd be an incredible signing(fantasy though).
He's an amazing player. Him not being as good as Neymar isn't an indictment on him. Not many attackers were better than Neymar.

1) Brazil have a lame duck manager that's dragging them down
2) Carrying a failing Brazil on your shoulders is something very few players have been able to do. Vini needs to improve but he's also probably just not strong enough for it, mentally.
3) Neymar was on a whole different level, come on now. He's been unlucky with injuries and bad career choices, but even across Brazilian football history he stands out. Brazil haven't produced more than 5-6 bigger talents in the last 50 years or so(Zico, Ronaldo, Dinho, maybe Rivaldo...)

Not being half as good as Neymar means very little. Relative to his current actual contemporaries, Vinicius Jr is clearly one of - if not the best - wide forwards in football. At club level, at least.
I'd say Neymar was the better talent but as players alone, there isn't much between them. Neymar playing with the best striker, best player and best midfielders in the world would have helped. Vinicious is certainly a big game player. Be interesting to see how he gets on this season with Mbappe there.

I really hope he can get it together for Brazil, because it would be good to see them exciting fans on the international stage again. The best thing about this kid is that he is still young. The natural answer is for Kylian to move over to the right, where he played (incredibly well) for France in the 2018 World Cup win. I’m not sure if his ego would allow that, but in Real and Vini, there are probably the only two factors that would have him show the needed humility to fit into this Real team.
Vini and Mbappe up front, splitting left and right respectively, Bellingham playing as a false nine or deeper shadow striker. Midfield three of Camavinga, Valverde, and Tchouameni. With Guler or Modric replacing one of them to offer more creativity against certain teams. This Real team has some serious talent on paper but they need a new CB, to provide depth. They need a RB badly, and probably a LB too. And they need a creative midfielder, Kroos is a huge miss.

Arguably the best player in the world. Most entertaining player to watch with an added bonus of having end product. Brilliant player.
He was but his finishing was atrocious. He scored 7 goals in the league in his first 3 seasons and then exploded into a world class talent.

I think we can mark down tonight as the night he truly became the best player in the world, and will be for a few years. Mbappe is wishing he was back home, don't tell me he's thrilled to be the 2nd best player on the team, which he clearly is.
Mbappe isn’t even in the best 11 at the moment. Been an absolute waste of space and playing like a glorified Mariano Diaz.

It's a early stages Champions League game in a bloated group stage, maybe wait until the end of the season to see where they are. It is also Mbappé moving into an established winning team and trying to make his mark, will take time. And Mbappé has been way better for France than Vini has been for Brazil.
