Vinicius Junior

He's a really good player, better than I thought. But he gave the ball away 21 times last night and I just made that fact up but you weren't shocked were you? Exactly, he didn't play well last night, still had a big influence on the result which is important.

And he kept showing for the ball, kept working hard. Fergie loved that about Ronaldo.

He was up against Reece James, who can lock down most attackers. Vinicius won't be the first or the last to be pocketed by James. He still had the quality to create the crucial winning the goal the one time he slipped away from his marker.

I like him a lot. He's very talented and he has that 'keep going, don't let your head drop when things aren't coming off for you' thing about him that I admire.

Very good players and showed flashes of why people rate him so highly last night. Still isn't world class yet but if he keeps getting better it won't be long.

Absolutely, I posted the exact same in this thread last night.

He's been absolute shite tonight and James has been brilliant against him. Still making a difference with the assist though.

He's quality. It was a very even battle last night and Reece James had to be at his best to keep Vini quiet and even then there was glimpses of brilliance, i.e. the assist for Benzema goal.

I wonder how effective he is going to be playing off the right - presumably that'll be the plan next season if they end up getting Mbappe. Would be a shame after the season he's had and the progress he's making to slide him over to a position where he's not as comfortable and that might stunt his development as he looks well on his way to being a top player.

Didn’t he also provide the assist for Benzema’s first in the reverse tie?

He might be a bit wasteful, but he also has the pace, skill and energy to get into a lot of good situations. I like him.

He’s great. Can see him hitting higher levels in a year or so.

That's my thinking, too. It's a bit reminiscent of the Cristiano signing when they had to offload Robinho although he just had his best season for them. Benzema, Vinicius and Mbappe. At least one of them has to sit on the bench or play out of position in their regular formation. And if they switch to a 4-4-2 or something like that, they will have to sacrifice one of their midfielders which is a dilemma in itself since they are excellent there, too (Modric, Casemiro, Kroos, Valverde). And if Haaland joins them, too, it becomes almost unsolvable. Especially since Benzema is probably still better than him.

They'd need left footed attacking player. I mean, they already have Vinicius, Rodrygo and Hazard for the left and as it looks Mbappe as well.

Mbappe is hardly out of position on the right. He's played there loads.

Vinicius has been absolutely horrendous whenever he played as a right winger most of the time. He looks like an absolute beast as a left winger playing much closer towards the goal. Vincius is then able to cut inside to make an attempt for scoring a goal or making a pass to Benzema or another fellow Madrid teammate.

His contract won't expire until 2024. I think Real Madrid should do the right thing and sell Vinicius until his value gets tanked next year if he doesn't resign. Which could very well happen if Vinicius becomes upset if he has to play out of position or adapt in a completely different role to accomodate Mbappe.

Real Madrid can easily sell Vinicius for €100m to invest a great young fullback who can replace a washed up Carvajal and a proper right winger who fits way better next to Mbappe.

Mbappe is hardly out of position on the right. He's played there loads.

Mbappe hasn't played on the right on consistent basis since 17/18 season. He spends most of his time as a left inside forward, which is the exact same role Vinicius does for Real Madrid.

That was at a different time, wasn't it? I can't imagine Mbappe would accept being played on the right. It seems to me he's clearly favoring the striker position now where he can maximize his goal scoring. He may settle for a similar role to Cristiano's for them, as a left forward who cuts in and occupies the box a lot but that's much more difficult to replicate from the right. And even from the left, it woul dprobably require Benzema to be much more selfless again, too.

One way or another, there's lots of potential for drama. Even if Mbappe plays the same position as Ronaldo did, will Benzema be okay with playing second fiddle again now that he's finally in the lime light? Will Mbappe maybe even replace Benzema as a starter to play in his favorite position and make room for Vinicius on the left? It seems like one of those three will fall short and Madrid might decide that it has to be Benzema because the other two have many more years of elite football in them.

It will be a big issue if Real do get Mbappe - Vinicius is an emerging superstar and both are most effective playing LW. Mbappe as a sole striker won't be as effective as he is with space out wide (similar to Cristiano).

Of course because it's Mbappe you have to sign him, but what Real really need is a left footed RW. Problem is top quality RWs are a rare breed.

It's also another reason I feel Benzema is underrated. Playing the striker position in modern 4-3-3 where you need to link play is very hard, especially when you have wide players whose first aim is to score and not to assist. Firmino another one that gets underrated a lot playing there.

Vinicius is great, if he gets better at scoring he could be World class.

Saka will surely be sought after by City Liverpool and others in the post WC summer/next couple of years

I'm assuming it will be Mbappe on the right until Benzema ages out, then Mbappe central and a new RW will be brought in when Benzema leaves.

This kid deserves some love. Scored the winning goal in a CL final, tracked back all game long and even tried an outrageous dive ;)
Most improved player in European football by far

When I watch his development and rise to highest level, it gives me hope about Hudson-Odoi. Similar players with similar strength and weaknesses.

Out of 20 similar players (flashy and young), not many reach their real potential. Mbappe not going there will help him tbh too

Rate him very highly. This is what wide players should be - fast and techical dribblers. The goals can always be added later.

Instead we seem to exclusively play slow wide players or finishers

That's very true. Vinicius' rise has been so impressive to watch. I hope Tuchel is watching him and seeing what I see in CHO.

Still remember when Benzema went rogue on him in the tunnel and had to apologise.

Coming back from that and scoring a CL winning goal is commendable in this day and age.

Also a shithouse, wish he was playing against Robertson to give him a taste of his own medicine.

Have to admit I was unsure about him and Rodrygo, though he was decent to be in the squad and have around until we signed a more proficient forward but this season he has been phenomenal for us. Along with Benzema he has been carrying the attack and they both have made it easier to digest the whole Mbappe fiasco.

Maybe you guys in here don't watch much of La Liga games (aside from El Clásico) but he went to be bambi in front of goal to then scoring some absolute beauties with lots of composure.

What's the point of Mbappe when you've got Vini who's grown accustomed to that role at Real? Take all the hype away; do we really expect Mbappe to change games in the right balance better than Vini? He's in great sync with the team right now.

Not to mention the cost of Mbappe; the difference in level between Vini and Mbappe isn't justified by that cost.

My favourite wing player in the world right now. Absolutely exhilarating with the ball at his feet. I hope he has a long and successful career.

If he was one of our pampered players, he would’ve crumbled after that. You can’t survive at Madrid without having thick skin. Thats why they have the mentality they do to keep on winning.

Man are you being serious? Now you comparing Vini to Odoi I mean come on man.
