None of those would be more than a 15 yards. If he can't even do that, then yes he's not good enough. But I think he would be capable.

And yet you can compare Darren Fletcher's stats in a United midfield to Wanyama's stats in a entirely different Celtic midfield playing an entirely different role in an entirely different system?
No, it's why you shouldn't be judging anybody by passing stats. Different midfield roles will effect passing stats the same way as will different positions on the pitch (Forward compared to Central Defence etc.); you can't compare two players in different teams performing different roles on their passing stats; the myriad of variables just make such comparisons absolutely pointless. The only way to determine passing ability in the player in comparison to another is through watching them play, not through statistics.

I keep wondering if Sir Alex got it wrong by not playing him more last season and that lead to him leaving, but then I remember that he wasn't actually playing that well consistently for the reserves and whenever he played for the first team he was overawed by the occasion.
He's a great talent and he'll probably become the midfielder that we need in our midfield but based on everything I've seen of him upto this season, going to a league where he will be allowed more time on the ball will definitely suit him better than the fast frantic pace of the English game.

It has plenty of relevance, Ki was outstanding for Korea and yet he's at Swansea and didnt cost the earth to sign. Its a sign of the times for Scottish football and Ki has proven more than Wanyama has just yet.
Ki was sold cheaply because his contract had about a year remaining and it's better to cash in than lose him for nothing. Wanyama is contracted to 2015 so the circumstances are extremely different.
No team will pay a bomb for a player they can get for free if they wait a little bit.
Ki hasn't proven more than Wanyama either. I would say that when you're playing in the SPL, the Champions League is where you'll be judged properly and Wanyama has been brilliant in this year's CL. Ki's proven what that Wanyama hasn't?
I'll admit to having seen very little of Pogba, but isn't he an attacking midfielder? And if so, I'm not sure that he's what we are lacking, given that we have Cleverley, Anderson, Rooney and even Kagawa, who can play that role.
That he's international standout quality. Not just someone who puts in 6 tackles in a game your team has none of the ball.
Wanyama's contract is running down too, the point you missed is that Swansea were the side going for Ki. Not Manchester United.
Pogba certainly is attacking, but we have Carrick, Fletcher, Cleverley and Anderson who have all done the sitting role

Ki stands out internationally because he plays for a very good team in South Korea. Wanyama plays for Kenya. It's a really unfair comparison.
You keep on dismissing a defensive midfielder's performance in disrupting the best team on the planet's attacking all night. Strange that you've repeatedly ignored that and instead focused on his passing statistics in a match where no one was bursting forward to support and offer an outlet for the ball. The tactics were to win the ball back and get it forward quickly to trouble their makeshift centre backs. Why don't we look at his passing stats after the next SPL game if that's all your interested in?
Honestly, it sounds like you won't be interested in any midfielder unless it's a perfect blend of Xavi and Roy Keane.

why is there a need to buy when there most certainly isn't a need to buy! there are 7 players, with Carrick an arguable 8th, listed. that's FOUR per position.
Wanyama would be bought to play in midfield. It's just useful he can cover in defence, much better than Carrick for example.
I agree, Pogba is simply fantasic, he is so much more than Cleverly and Fletcher as the most recent midfielders comming trough. He will become one of the best midfielders around. He really has it all. I think SAF should be a bit less principal when it comes to the youth players.
Only thing that can cheer me up is that we have Mats Moller Daehli and he is a even greater talent and he will never be involved in anything like this beeing that he is norwegian. He is a different player and they might have been the next great midfield pairing, but as he is the most attacking, creative player, I would take him over Pogba as he is a more rare bread. But, Pogba had it all, he was a holding player with more football in him than most attacking players.
If that were truly the case then SAF would have given him a contract. You can't make such gushing assessments of a player based on nothing but reserve team football.

truth was pogba wanted scholes or carricks spot, but as good as he is he was never going to dislodge them, or even cleverly at the stage of development he was at, Fergie wants loyalty and player to have desire to play for the club, Ravel and Pogba lacked that, and possibly Nani, so they must go.
