Shouls have took a punt last summer. God knows we take enough punts on strikers/attackers. manucho,bebe,Obertan/Diouf etc.

City will buy him to replace YaYa...you heard here first!!

Contract runs to 2015 so celtic will see next summer for the big bucks I would think.

My Celtic supporting mate has told me this evening that he has heard that the deal is done and we are signing him for £15 million in January.

SIGN him! I've not seen him play, but he sounds like what we need.

Sir Matt Caf Endorsement right there.

I'm basing this entirely on highlights, but he does look like the sort of player we could do with.

Again though, haven't actually seen him play a full game, so I'm just mostly speculating.

Wanyama is the nickname my friend gave to the 'gambian hammer'. I dont like this footballer and would hate it if he joined us.

Great name for the terrace song-smiths to work with. Came over as a good honest mug of tea and digestives type in his interview.

Haven't seen him in a full game but from the bits I have seen, his passing is rather erratic. I would have doubts about his potential to do well in a two man midfield.

Yeah, he rejected a new contract as well so they will need to cash in. His agent has said that they already had offers in the summer from England. Celtic are going to make an incredible profit on him, he cost less than £1m.

Reckon if he doesn't go to a top club he will end up at Liverpool.

The question is he better than YaYa?

For me is he good cuz he's playing in the SPL or is he really that good enough to play in the EPL?

He strolls through SPL games, at the back or in midfield. Whether he would do the same in the Premier League is a different thing. Sky showed that they only had 11% possession and to be perfectly honest they were completely dominated. You can't really use last night as a measure of anything, but he certainly is too good for the SPL. I've seen him a fair few times live, and he is Celtic's best player.

It's silly comparing him to Yaya, the lads barely turned 21. Of course he isn't as good as him.

I remember seeing or reading a interview with him and said he was a United fan and his favourite player was Scholes.

Haven't seen enough of him to pass any judgement to say he is good enough though.

Haven't seen much admittedly, but I gotta say I'm impressed from what I have seen.
And on top of that he genuinely seems like a nice person, I think if by some coincidence he'd sign for United the lot of you would like him in a similar way I (and some others) like Chicharito. As in he always works hard, always has a smile on his face and doesn't complain, just gets on with it.

What sort of a question is that? Who's putting him in that bracke? At his age, he's still a prospect, not close to a finished article.

He had their midfield in his back pocket on plenty of occasions and looked miles better than Song. If performing that well against one of the best midfield's of all time doesn't count for something then what does?

Bottom line is, he has now performed brilliantly in two straight matches v Barcelona. The "is he only good in the SPL/could he do it in England" questions have been firmly answered.

If he can play that well against Xavi, Iniesta and Messi then I'm sure he could do it against QPR.

Besides, that old "Scotland doesn't count" chestnut gets old after a while. Larsson's not the only one to disprove that theory. Jelavic and Maloney would be a couple of decent rather than spectacular SPL performers who are now key starters in the Premier League
for their respective clubs. I've no doubt Wanyama would prosper in England.

He didn't "have them in his back pocket." He played brilliantly, but to say he had them in his back pocket when they managed 11% possession doesn't make much sense to me. I do rate him very highly, but he didn't boss their midfield. Saying that, he is playing for Celtic and as I have said he is way too good for them and the SPL. I have no doubts he could do it against QPR, Sunderland or whoever but in Europe when we play more open that Celtic I just have my doubts he is at the level yet to command such a big fee. If we were to take a gamble on him, I'd be happy but I'm just a bit wary that we would pin our hopes on a relatively unproven 21 year old. However, I'm a big fan and can see him continuing to do very well. Apologies for the somewhat contrasting views.

One thing I like about him is he can play CB. A great assist to any potential CM signing for United given the annual CB crisis.

Not seen him play, don't know what he looks like or whether he is black or white but after reading some of the posts he seems to be the real deal.

I've never seen him play a full game

Also... I remember Lass Diarra having a really good game against Barcelona in a similar way not that long ago. Few people wanted us to sign him.

And he made 16 passes with 69% accuracy. Thats not to say he wasnt brilliant, just some perspective so we arent going overboard. He made a lot of tackles, he took his goal well... But there would be very different demands at a top club than on Celtic. In a great defensive team performance players like this always look that much better, but if Celtic had 60% of the ball what would he have been like?
