Victor Lindelof to Wolves?

if got a serious offer i would be very tempted to sell, or at worse let him go out on loan for a year to them, as long as were getting neves in some sort of deal

Because he is not British, is first choice for his country and cost 35 million, he should be first choice (at least in rotation) or not in the squad at all, i.e. sold. The same for Bailly. If they do not become indisputable first choices, it should be them who are shipped off, not Smalling and Jones.

What Smalling and Jones have more of a right to stay at Old Trafford cause they’re British? Bailly is twice the defender of either of them.

What is this post.

Should use him as a makeshift for Neves.

This

However there has been no news on this for awhile not and somehow I doubt Lindelöf will be leaving already after just one season were to be fair he did badly and started horribly but did seem to grow some and show some growing composure in the league during the latter stages

Maybe so, in which case he (Bailly) should be first choice, and he doesn't seem to be since Smalling and Jones were picked above him for the FA Cup final. The same for Lindelof, who wasn't even on the bench. I don't think squad players, or more correctly those who are not at least rotational starters, should be 35 million pound foreign signings from foreign clubs, or vice versa, and I'm sure such players would be less willing to have that role than youth team products such as Tuanzebe or TFM (even if he is Dutch) and in previous years the likes of Evans and Brown (and Fletcher, Butt and P Neville in other positions), or even low(ish) cost British signings such as Smalling and Jones. (I apply this thinking to other clubs too, but Robertson is now first choice LB for Liverpool, for example. I'm sure he'd have been happier as a squaddie than Moreno is now.)

Also, even though he is English, I think Shaw should be sold this year if Jose plans to buy a foreign LB (or even Rose) and prefer Young (or Mitchell) as backup.

ETA: Hernandez and Berbatov were at least rotational starters when at the club, and were sold (after a loan in Hernandez' case) when they were not in the manager's plans. (Of course Berbatov in particular was hardly a developmental signing.)

It would be a shame if he didn't get a second season to improve, but gun to head, I'd get rid of him. Lacks all of the main characteristics of a successful CB.

I’d be amazed if he got let go so soon. He isn’t the first player to have an average to bad debut season at all and there’s been plenty of players who go on and be quality in the following season or even the season after that.

Plus he’s only 23-24 and I don’t think he’s had any major injuries to shorten and/or limit his career length or ability. Times still on his side and he should get another chance.

Even if it was true, which I doubt, Barcelona's CB turnover is ridiculous. They signed Lenglet last summer, Todibo this summer and Umtiti 2 seasons ago. So every summer they buy at least 1 more CB and Pique remains their best, meaning they replace them the next summer. Lindelof would be another like that

I think hes just trying to get a new contract while he's overhyped and because some other foreign players have struggled to get a pay rise.

Couldn't care less if he got sold tbh. I don't see any massive difference in level if you compare him to Smalling.

This would be a big mistake by United - get rid of Jones not Lindelof.

Would you care if any of our CB’s got sold then?

This thread should not have been bumped either. The feck does the new links have to do with Wolves?

Nonsense!! Jones is English and a future club captain! We just need to give him a chance! More money should sort things out.

I don't think we'll sell him. But I would laugh (then cry) if we went full circle and we ended up with a starting CB partnership of Smalling and Jones again next season. It would represent how poorly we are run in a way we're surely not stupid enough to make possible.

Maybe, yeah. Though I do rate him and don’t think he’d look out of place at Barcelona.

Still hasn't showed anything better than Blind. No idea what he offers 20m better than Blind.

Better player than most of our defenders but that doesn't say anything.
