I think Lindlöf is a good center back, and that he would take a starting place in many more teams then what we (many)in the United fanbase thinks.
I do believe he suites the "outher" european leagues better than the premier league.
One of the reasons is because he is a moore tactical player than the hardplaying one. And fore many of us that love the premier league, loves it because of the fast and powerfully games we wants to watch.
Lindelöf loves to block the players runs, not trying to take the ball, just lead the player to a possession thats not considers a dangerous possision/angle. In premier league we expect/likes players to bee a bit more like AVB or Bailly, whom almost every time try to take the ball. Great for the stats when succeeded and looks fantastic for the eyes, and we all screams and applause thet kind of play(when succeeded). I'm sure the Lindelöf play is the best fore him. His way feels safer, but don't look that great and dont get the attention Bailly get (god and bad).

One other thing is hes speed. With the play he play, he don't need to be the fastest player. Of course it doesn't hurt to be faster, but you can do a good job just by being smart. If he try to get the ball like Bailly, he will take out the player more times then what we like to see, just because hes not fast enough.

He is not strong. He gets bullied. Thats my biggest issue with him. I hate to see when players just move him to the side. But to be fair, it dos not happens that often!

He do wins a lot more headers then what I thought.

He is fore me a good player, but I still expect more from a United CB, and especially if you considers that he is the one to match Maguire. Not on the contrary. I think they are to simular.

I do understand why managers like Lindelöf and hes play. Its kind of secure, you know what you get.... And in the big games were we stay deeper with the whole team, he suites better than Bailly for example.
His play is kind of similar to VvD but he is just not that good. I cant remember were I saw it but didn't he have better allover stat then VvD before the injuries? Stats don't tell the whole story, I do know VvD is a better player. But its a bit interesting.

I do believe he would accept to be the third option and I also believe this would be really good for United, if we could find the perfect match for Maguire. Bailly is not consistent enough and have to big problems with injures.

He is not that slow. He is not a bad CB but still people look at him for his first year which was terrible.

Surprised nobody's posted it but there's a new interview up on ManUtd.com highlighting his top class winner's mentality.

“It’s going to be a fun game to be involved in. Everyone wants to be involved in those sorts of games,”

“It’s always nice to get a challenge and you always want to compete against the best. If that means a tough draw, let it be a tough draw. You always want to compete against the best and obviously [it’s] a bigger reward in the end if you win it.”

Not mentioned but he also says he's 'ready' for Diogo Dalot, again showing his ferocious lionheart qualities.

Good game with high concentration and no mistakes. I read before the match that he would be outmuscled by Antonio all the time, but he nullified Antonio. Think AWB was a little bit all over the place tonight so he had to cover for him more than normal.

I don't care what others think about him. I just trust our defense more with him in it.

Will we ever put the 'Lindelof is bad aerially' thing to bed?

He's won 70.2% over the last year - making him better than 80% of all centre-backs across the Big 5 leagues.

Rinse and repeat.

All our CBs are playing well at the moment. That's 9 clean sheets in the last 13, and we've conceded more than 1 only once.

He and Maguire have barely put a foot wrong since Everton, Solskjaer must have gave them a proper bollocking. We've barely conceded with them 2 and Henderson.

Showed up. Glad not to feel like slagging him off.

I thought before the match that Antonio against him was a mismatch. But he didn't let Antonio get away. He was strong. May he long continue to play like this.

Yes it is always the same. Lindelof is going to be out out paced, torn in to pieces in the air, outmuscled and bullied.

He has has 7 clean sheets in his last 10 matches.

Him and Maguire have 7 clean sheets in their last 11 PL matches and that includes 2xCity, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

Lindelof and Maguire conceded 5 goals in their two first matches. After that they have conceded 15 goals in 19 PL matches.

Told you lot with Hendo in between the sticks he's going to improve. That's the effect that a good GK has on his defense.

I agree. Any defender under De Gea is going to look worse than they do under Hendo because they're asked to do so much more with David.

9 clean sheets in the last 13. Care to revise that opinion
Not really no. We'll go back to looking shaky in time, sure enough. Not that we've looked particularly amazing defensively in the last few months anyway, clean sheets or not.

Why did you go 25 pages back to find a comment?

Some classic Caf only react to what has just happened on show here.

9 clean sheets in 13 isn't knee jerk. He's a good centre back.
You've got to dish out the praise as well as the crap
And I do, often, where I feel it's warranted. Doesn't mean I massively rate Lindelof highly all of a sudden. For starters, clean sheets are a team thing.

He played well just now. That ok praise?

Why were you looked 25 pages back though?

Do you change your mind every 25 pages or do you stand by your comments?

Eh? I've literally just said I stand by my comment. Are you ok?

Again, why were you rooting 25 pages back for a negative comment to jump on?

Had 1 moment on the half way line he got too tight and spun and then let him run all the way into the box, luckily shaw bailed him out. He still needs to be more decisive in those situations and stop letting strikes lead him.

apart from that though was pretty solid, better than usual.

I was reading through some Lindelof comments from the last time I was on his page and responded to yours. Is there a time limit for responses?

@VeevaVee ISN'T the guy to target in this thread. He's pretty reasonable in his comments. There's some far worse candidates like Adam and Ekeke, who will criticize the way Lindelof blinks.

No but it's a bit odd to respond to a negative comment that is hardly outrageous, just because he's just had a good game, or because of a simple stat. Many people believe we need a world class defender next to Maguire as opposed to Lindelof. Not exactly a crazy shout. It doesn't change because he played well in a game, or even because of clean sheet stats. Especially baring in mind we drew 0-0 three games in a row, two of which we dominated possession in, further showing a clean sheet is a team thing.

I have no real bug bear about Lindelof. If you're trying to suggest I have an agenda you couldn't be further from the truth. I stand by the fact that I think we need a world class defender though, and that defender won't be standing next to Lindelof.

I don't mind Lindelof. He'll make a great back up, but I don't think he's the man to take us further than where we are now, that's for sure.

I think it was MikeKing who once complained about Lindelöf waving his arms about, presumably because there was nothing to criticise about his performance.

But yeah, there are a few who will, at best, offer a backhanded compliment after a good performance. Mostly it'll be petty complaints, though.
