Apart from that one moment where he gave away ball to Sterling he was very good.

His block to stop KdB's shot was just brilliant, thought it would have gone in.

Overall very good performance .

Thought he was brilliant.

Best performance he's had all season by a mile.

That block on KDB was something else

Like Maguire I think he struggled when City really got on top, but he had the advantage of AWB being right next to him.

Yeah, it was probably one of his best games for us. Hopefully we see more of this.

Can't help myself but mention his mistakes with the ball, because we bought him because he is apparently good with the ball.

One poor moment when he lost possession to Sterling, requiring Wan-Bissaka to save us, otherwise I thought he performed well. Our other defenders each made far more errors, though Wan-Bissaka had a lot of good moments too.

I suppose City didn't have the space to exploit his lack of pace or the physical strength in attack to worry Victor.

One of his best performances this season.

Same thoughts with others. Lots of very good (game defining) defensive moments along with some dodgy ones. If he can improve his overall level to something of this standard, then I'm all in and willing to see past his other flaws.

Long may this form and proactiveness continue.

He is, but even Zidane fumbled sometimes. The main error in that situation was his indecision, which then led to the biproduct, the fumbling (which is normal and happens all the time with forwards/midfielders etc - it just isn't as risky when they do it). He should've passed it/booted it earlier as last defender under pressure. But not even CBs in the EPL are perfect, I guess.

Another solid game and another game where many counter attacks started with him playing his way out to McT. Great blocks. Poor to give to away possession to Sterling but overall good.

I give this man a lot of stick, but bar that one mistake when he gave the ball away to Sterling in a dangerous area, he was great.

Good game today. One brain fart moment though. The block was amazing.

This. Made one major error which lucky AWB bailed him out. Other than that, he was solid!

I celebrated that block as if we had scored a goal! It was a massive moment in the match. If Victor doesn’t block that shot, it’s a goal.

To be fair I wouldn't really worry about him in games like this... Its against the physical sides that his defiance become more of an issue.

Not always been a huge fan of Lindelof but he did very well.

a potential game saving tackle on De Bruyne.

still had a few wobbly passes and nearly cost us with giving it away easily to sterling, but ill let him off this time ;) he owes AWB a drink.

Anybody who can find a clip of the first good block he made? Think that would’ve been a goal if he hadn’t made that block. It was a 12:50-13:00 min something with a nice replay a little later as it was called for hands check. @GifLord ?

Liked what he did against City for the most part. Do not care about his sloppy passing at times if he is that turned on defensively

Made some sloppy passes but our strategy to play out from the back is truly bizzare. Most of the time when he receives the ball on the right there was no one to pass to. Both him and AWB were under a lot of pressure from the City players and they end up hoofing the ball away everytime.

In second half it looked like a strategy from City to put pressure and push the ball to AWB who often lost possession. In first half they were much better, and they played their way out of the the pressure easily. Lindelof was moving some steps forward with the ball, passing to McT who passes on to the attacker. It was not advanced and looked very easy. Probably they shut down McT in second half.

This. He and Maguire are both very good on the ball and try to pass it rather than go for long ball but problem is that we lack player like Brozovic or Busquets on dmc position. Player who will come for that ball and quickly pass it to another player. McT and Fred are not that kind of players plus we are playing with no10 which means that we are one player short when we start attack from behind. Pogba on free role is solution for that. He can be no10 on paper but he will come for the ball and give one more option to our central defenders.

I’m a critic but thought he did very well yesterday aside from the bonkers pass that surely would have led directly to a goal against were it not for AWB.

This is the type of thing that he needs to eradicate because he looks like he has at least one major brain fart in him every match. Needs to find consistency

Yes, part of City’s problems in the first half, began with Lindelöf/Maguire very quickly playing up Fred, McTominay or James, who in turn very very quick in transitioning to find Martial or Rashford (who in turn were often brilliant from there on). After City applied more pressure on those four/five, we struggled getting the ball out of defence quick enough, which led to some ball losses in dangerous areas. Not too many, though, compared to what you’ll often get from a high pressing City team.

That’s the way I saw it as well. A bold move by City to apply even more pressure but I guess they needed to take a chance. Lindelof had one, AWB maybe 2 and the midfielders a few lost possession, but overall they stood up very well. In first half I was very impressed with the way they played through the pressing. It looked like Lindelof, AWB and McT have had some special training in this, because they played their way out in the exact way several times.

Yes, and particularly a few examples of one touch play out of defence on that side

I saw nothing wrong with his performance over the weekend. Read the danger well on occasions and passed out the back. The Lingard chance we had was straight from our goal kick.

You don't expect a CB to go to the Ethiad with the fire power that CIty have got and not to make a few errors. None of them were really costly.

I don't see why even with good performances fingers are pointed at him.

He was excellent against City. People need to realise that we were playing the reigning champions who press incredibly well and force mistakes out of some of the best players in the world.

After 5 second in to the clip. That was an important block/tackle. A goal that early and the match had taken another direction.

As a bonus, It always makes me happy to see Pep upset.

Lindelof has always been solid against technical sides, and it is not surprising that he played well against City, as in other European games. He is a good reader of the game, allowing him to intercept passes and make blocks. He is also confident in playing out from the back. However, his major weakness is undoubtedly his physical ability, especially with his aerial duels. This obvious weakness has once and again been exploited by our opponents, costing us plenty of points. In a physical competition such as the Premier League, I don't think Lindelof is a reliable long-term candidate playing against physical forwards like Deeney, Barnes etc.

I saw a stat on Instagram that Lindelof hasn't been dribbled past this season, is that actually true? Can someone verify it?

According to WhoScored he is the only player out 68 defenders with 10 or more matches that have not yet been dribbled past. This according to their definition: "Being dribbled past by an opponent without winning a tackle." which is a bit fuzzy imo. However I can't remember him being dribbled this season.
There are many CBs who have low numbers, typically 3-7. Last season VvD did not get dribbled past the whole season.

He's fine as backup but we need an upgrade as a long term partner to Maguire. Maybe Tuenzebe, but I'd rather sell Rojo and Jones, and bring in a monster CB that can really lock down the position for the next 5+ years.

He was fine today. Only the weird Chris Smalling fans cult on this site would be stupid enough to blame him for the goal.

Awful today.

He should really be next out the door. Way too many mistakes, easy to play against.

Strikers must love playing against him.
