I have to admit your parody portrayal of a Lindelof fanboy is hilarious. You've got this down perfectly within 2000 posts, much respect
Out of you 43k posts, 40 000 have probably been about defending Smalling from any criticism. It's just fun to bait you in and get a reaction, you are too predictable.

Every CB we have is going to be compared with Ferdinand and Vidic, which isn’t really fair.

I like Lindelöf. I think he is certainly better than average. Moaners can go buy VVD.

More gold!

Making shit up because you cant be bothered to do any research and feel super defensive about being called out. Quality act you have

Unlike you with all those great examples you offered up...

I make shit up to counter your BS. You accuse me of being a Lindelof fanboy when I haven't posted much in his thread before and did so now to defend from the biased criticism.

Smalling has had 10 years time to prove himself, it's time to move on and I'm grateful for his contribution. Ole has barely used him this pre-season, Tuanzebe, Rojo and Jones seem to be in front of him in the pecking order. No point in keeping him anymore and it's better for his career to go somewhere and play regularly.

Well now you ruined your parody account. You shouldnt have admitted you were just making shit up as a comedy character

Anyone who watched us last season and isnt trolling will know that Smalling, Bailly and Jones all showed more pace.
That would be great if it was the point. Which it isn't. Great strawman. Now give me some examples.

The only reason people think so highly of Lindelof is because they hate Jones and Smalling. I saw the exact same reaction from Valencia haters when we bought Darmian.

Ole seems to rate him more than both Jones and Smalling. Does he hate them as well? I thought he was some sort of Brexit-type of manager.

I see you’re still as committed to qualifying your points as ever, and still a bit of a dick. Never change Fracture.
Mate long time ago I realised that discussion with you is comparable to to banging your head against the wall, there's really no point in wasting time like that.

Regarding that dick part, I guess it takes one to know one, right?

Everyone can tell Lindelof is on the slow side just by watching him, but you do you.

Cool story bro. Bye.

Can you give me some examples of Rojo getting burned by pace?

Lindelof uses the right tactic to make up for the fact he's not that fast. So no he's not exposed by it often and usually deals with balls in behind him. But the balls are played in behind him and not Smalling because he's slower
So in other words, his lack of pace is not a problem.

Again another player that on here, their glass is always half empty. They minimise on what he can do and magnify what he can't. People say he's slow yet can remember him being done for pace, said he wasn't strong enough but rarely seen him out muscled. I think I read a stat about him winning the majority of his headers too. When a player comes to a club, I look for development each season and he's proven that in some big games and arguably was our player of the season. The problem for him and others is they signed at one of the worst times in utds prem history and there aren't many who have been here or still are that have managed to shake the frustrations of the fans and the negativity. Poor starts for players are rarely forgiven by the modern fan at Utd. If he's not good enough like Rom and Pogs, why do better teams than Utd want them? If he's so bad, why would he be worth more than we paid for him. We would easily make 20m plus profit. Can't say the same of Rojo or Damian.

Lindelof is better than average like someone here said. He was our best CB last season with plenty of consistent performances and he managed to remain injury free for large part, which was great.

Now with maguire alongside him, I expect him to be even better. Another great benifit of purchasing maguire would be the standard he would set for lindelof Jones and smaling to live up to.

Earlier they would almost guarantee each other's paying time by getting injured in cycles

Don't get it?

I really don't rate him. He's definitely decent on the ball, but his defending is so average. The BBC had stats of clearances, headers won, tackles made per 90 minutes vs Maguire and our other centre backs and he's noticeably lower. When you watch him play it matches that, he's passive and too easy to play against. He's cut out the embarrassing moments of his first season / early last season but we'll still concede soft goals like against AC Milan I fear with him. Not obvious mistakes but just giving the attacker too much time and joy. I'm not sure he actually complements Maguire to be honest either - Maguire is better on the ball and a much better defender. Lindelof I don't think is fast enough to compensate for Maguire's lack of pace.

If Ole wants to build a new and future United, Lindelof might be the way to go. Or he is not, time will tell. The only thing that is sure is that Smalling and Jones are not the future.

He was pretty bad yesterday. Looked more like the Lindelof of his first season than the emerging Lindelof that was at Benfica. Hopefully it was just due to playing with Rojo but that was worrying. He’s been pulled out in to weird positions a few times in pre-season but I just put it down to pre-season but he was still doing it yesterday in a game where by now you would hope most of the mistakes are gone.

I still think he has higher ceiling than smalling jones rojo and even bailly. If lindelof gets replaced or benched I hope it is for Tuanzebe and not for the same defenders who have time and time disappointed.

Interesting yday that when Tuanzebe came on he played right centre back, which is where Lindelof has been better. Going to be Maguire plus one so let the battle commence!

He tends to drop a few yards behind because he knows he isnt very fast, so gives himself a headstart.

He's not as fast as Bailly, Smalling or Jones so he's not pretty quick for a CB

Good defenders rarely put themself in situations where they have to show pace. I’m not sure about his pace, but Mourinho claimed he is fast. And they probably test them and have stats on it.

"I think Richarlison is a very good player and a difficult player to play against but Victor is very fast," Mourinho told MUTV.

"He has adapted to play centrally but also to go to the sides because he's got the agility that many of the central defenders don't have. I think it was another very positive performance by Victor."

But he had a good game defensively. One point where he played himself into trouble which should surprise nobody, but in terms of actual defensive contributions Lindelof had more problems than Rojo did.
I didn't say Rojo had a worse game than Lindelof. I disagree Rojo had a good game, it was only decent and he had better involvements than Lindelof who was terrible but thats it. Lindelof can't use Rojo as an excuse, but I honestly think he felt himself struggling due to not knowing what Rojo might do, as he is so unpredictable.

I don't think we should get into the habit of blaming other players for an individuals poor performance. Definitely something we have seen with Smalling and Jones, not only do they get blamed for their own faults but often for those of others as well. Rojo and Bailly had their periods when they were talked about as our best CB, just as Lindelof has this Summer. Maguire coming in at a world record price is going to put Lindelof under a lot of pressure to make a true defensive impact.

I fully agree it is stupid to say things like "he spreads nervousness" etc, but my point differs in that Rojo has been injured a lot and haven't played much with Lindelof as a CB, so it is natural for something like that to have an effect on a player. It is a different ballgame to play alongside a player like Smalling who can hold his own and is dependable in his style, contrary to a player like Rojo who might do something unpredictable in any situation. I think it had an effect on Lindelof and exposed his defensive fragilities. I don't want to be misinterpreted on this, I didn't mean to excuse one defender just to criticise the other.

I like him. He doesn’t have to be the lead in the defence if he feels the pressure, Maguire will carry him and he’ll be fine

Don't really rate him.

Decent on the ball. But he is slow and average at defending. Weak in the air. Not good enough if we want get top 4

I’ve got the feeling that Maguire is the defender that Lindelof was meant to be i.e. an upgrade. It could be Lindelof as the Maguire backup and maybe Tuanzebe as Maguire’s partner. That would be a decent pairing in my humble view

Cardiff's Zahore rinsed Lindelof for pace in Ole's first game in charge and I even posted my thoughts about him struggling against the Cardiff player.

He was also destroyed for pace and strength away to Wolves by Cavaleiro who smashed the bar after leaving him for dead. I also posted my thoughts on that particular moment in the equivalent thread last season.

He isn't slow but he isn't quick either. And if he gets exposed in a one v one situation against a quick player then the result will be the same as we saw against Cavaleiro.

I fully expect and hope Lindelöf - Maguire will be our go to CB pairing this year.

I suspect this is what Solskjær has been preparing for as well. He hasn’t focused on one CB pair in preseason because he was fairly sure of getting Maguire, I believe. He said against Milan we’d see close to an expected starting eleven, and yet Rojo is playing LCB? I expect because he is the most similar to Maguire in terms of playing out from the back and letting Lindelöf play RCB.

Still guessing, I venture that Smalling and Jones have relatively weakened their positions in the squad in preseason and Axel has strengthened it. I certainly think so and hope so myself, and that he’ll stay and be third on our list of CB’s going into the season, with Smalling/Jones close by if he gets the PL wobbles.

Not a good game for Victor on Saturday, I'm a fan but I've got to say I think his steady season last year has led him to be a bit overrated. You can't help but feel a Tuanzebe-Maguire partnership might be a better fit. Hopefully those three will freeze out Smalling/Rojo anyway and we use Jones as backup. I'm really surprised Rojo seems to be sticking around, regardless if how well he did or didn't play I think we've seen enough of him to know he's a complete liability.

I'm sorry Smalling fanboys but we need to get with the times, the guy's a good defender and all but he isn't a good enough footballer to be an option for a club like ours anymore. There's a reason Southgate has picked Jones, Keane, Tarkowski and Dunk over him.
