Does his improvement have much to do with moving across to the right side of the pairing do we think? Or just the way the team is set up now?
Nope.

He’s just settled in now and not acting timid. He feels like he belongs and his aggression is showing. He was always a good player but he played soft.

Smalling and Lindelof are our best defenders but it will be interesting to see if they are effective as a partnership under Ole. Both Lindelof and Smalling play best on the right.

I think a lot of his problems before, and alot of the players actually, under Mourinho believe it or not, was that the attitude was to not make a mistake above all else. I think we see him being more confident and aggressive now because he's not afraid to make a mistake, or not afraid to go in with a challenge that may get him carded and so on, and because of that the confidence in his ability is back. Any player making a mistake under Mourinho was barely seen again for a while so I can't say I blame them, they all looked timid, now he looks like a warrior.

De Ligt or Skriniar alongside him in the summer please.

I think De Light is the same kind of player like Lindelof. We need a player like Vidic to partner him.

A lot of those saves had got to do with our midfield not been able to stop those chances being created. I think only the Ali chances was due to Lindelof.
There's also the Alderweid chance from a corner. Lost Alderweid in the near post and DDG pulled off an excellent save. Kane chance where he beats Lindelof by shifting the ball to his left foot. The last chance they had was due to Lindelof not coming out to challenge Jansen for the long ball. He even let Jansen control the long ball and play a lobbed pass inside.

That was because Rashford was at the near post and was blocking Lindelof from getting to the ball. Rashford should have seen and cleared it.

This was provided by @GifLord but that’s a turn of pace and I love that he was fully committed and taking everything in a controlled fashion. Bailly, Rojo, Jones and Mollie Green take notes. Although when you score as many as her a rogue cruncher is excusable.

Once again plays a solid 9/10 game against a very good team that plays the ball on the ground. When Mike gets back we are going to be absolutely formidable. That is of course they get injured again and we're once again reminded that Mourinho was right about needing to sign a rock solid CB.

I want to see a Rojo, Bailly and Lindelöf back three.

Bailly - Lindelöf - Rojo
Dalot—————————————Shaw
Herrera - Matic - Pogba
Rashford - Martial

Jesus christ man Rojo stinks, not sure what is worse... his injury record or brain farts
Rojo and Jones need to be shipped out asap

A good effort by Lindelof again today. He has had a fantastic development since the beginning of the season and seems to be getting better and better for each match.

It's, of course, a bit bitter for some of his critics who find it difficult to agree. If they do, they appear to be a little stupid themselves and of course nobody wants to. The most stubborn ones always find something to criticize for justifying themselves.

Lindelof just seems to get better off the criticism so it might be as for Zlatan who claimed that he only got the energy from the critics and needed new ones because the old ones became his fans.

Lindelof and Baillly are not finished yet, if Eric can get a run of games they might blossom.

Patience

Once again the Lindelof hype bandwagon is going way too far.

Was be great today? Not for me. Lost Alderweireld on the corner in second half who should score. Kane n Ali both did him in the box far too easily to get good chances on our goal too.

Did any of you actually see any of this?

Jones was worse I agree but that doesn't make Lindelof great guys. Re-watch the Spurs chances and get back to me. He wasn't solid at all.

He's not title winning quality and never will be.

Came across this, for all the people who doubt Lindelofs attributes he is outperforming numerous CB's. He is winning more aerial duels than Alderweireld, Laporte and Luiz while also outperforming the likes of Stones and Rudiger with on the ground duels. Remember he is also playing next to Phil Jones and Ashley Young which cant be helpful.

He did not lose Alderweireld on that corner. I have seen it many times. Rashford was at the near post and I do not see how Lindelof could get to him without going through the back of Rashford. Rashford should have cleared it before.
yes he made mistakes today but was a lot better than before and he is getting better and better.

No complains from him today. He was rock solid. Starting to show a lot of personality on the field.

Alderweireld runs off Lindelof to the near post. He wasn't Rashford's man at all. He just ended up next to Rashford but Lindelof totally lost him. It's not difficult. Just watch it.

Apart from 3 good Spurs chances inside our box he was at fault for ???

He wasn't rock solid at all. Jones was worse but that's not saying much. We were a bit fortunate they didn't get 2/3 goals second half.

People are trying very hard to make him seem like he's much better than he actually is. Kane had seven shots on goal and could quite easily have scored a few today if his finishing was better. Alli and Llorente could've quite easily scored a goal each too. Everytime the ball was crossed into the box we looked vulnerable.

How Spurs didn't score today is baffling. Thankfully ladyluck was with us today.

At this moment in time, for me he’s the best out of the bad bunch we have defensively. He’s played quite well & definitely playing with more aggression nowadays. Think he’ll improve but he needs that someone in defence to mentor him & help him further. But unfortunately we don’t have that someone who can.

I have. He has no chance of stopping him without fouling him. Rashford was nearer to the ball. He should have cleared it.

None of our defenders covered themselves in glory. Luckily they had superhuman behind them.

Rashford admitted as much in the post match interview it was his responsibility. he alluded to it being DDG's best save jokingly as it bailed him out. Not that Lindelof was flawless, but sometimes you got to accept the opponent will better you. on a separate note, on that graph above the domination of van dyke is ridiculous

Aldeweireld was his man, he lost him, hence chasing him towards the near post where Rashford was. Aldeweireld did well to outfox him. Let's not make excuses and blame Rashford..

He's been very good lately and deserves credit for his recent progression but agree with this totally. DDG made 11 saves. Or whatever it was. How does that make any of the defenders solid?

Still can't head the ball for toffee. We barely cleared any of the Ariel balls that came in the second half. It's a problem, especially when Smalling isn't around.

it is not making excuses. Toby went to the near post and it was clever of him but when your own player was blocking your attempt there is on way to stop him. Tug him back and it could be a penalty. Rashford was at the near post and he had everything in front of him and should and could have cleared it before Toby got there.
Now if you mentioned the Alli attempt I would have agreed that he lost him.

Lindelof was good again today but did make a couple mistakes. Hopefully he can keep improving.
Haha, yes, I had to look at the graph again to see Van Dijk.

Gary Neville kept equating us to Liverpool’s performance against Tottenham on the counter, especially first half. And a few have mentioned in recent weeks how we’re a bit like the scousers were last year before Van Dijk.
If we can get a top centre back, he could have the same effect Van Dijk had on us. Our attack looks as good as it has in years.

I did mention it. Ali n Kane both did him inside the box in addition to the Alderweireld chance. De Gea saved his arse today and others too.

We could and should have scored 2 or 3 ourselves though too. Finishing was poor today from both teams bar the winner.

Like some have already said, clearly slow and weak....

Is this Jose? Why would we go more defensive! We’re Manchester United.

Funny how still after showing people his ariel game is well in order people still go on about it. He had a very good game today didnt loose one header and raised spirits through out the game. Battled hard, fought and tackled. Rashford fell asleep at the near post not him, Rashford should have cleared it. His only mistake was when Alli turned him and against Spurs at home that is normally a good omen. He recovered well though and put a decent pressure on Alli for the shot.

Fun fact Jones had already messed up our game last season after 11 sec!
Not hype or anything but he truely has shut many caftards up. We really have a potentially very solid cb on our hands.

Ps and that tackle was mint.

Man like Victor!

Solid for about 3 months now. Long may it continue.

To be fair, being turned by Kane or Alli is something that can happen to any defender, especially any defender playing next to Phil Jones.

Yeah, he wasn't perfect, but his job is made needlessly hard when he's saddled with a donkey as his partner.

No one is saying he wasn't Lindelofs man but when Alderweireld goes in front of Rashford Lindelof can't exactly teleport through Rashford to get to him can he? The front post was Rashford's area to deal with and he was slow to react.

You expect players to run off markers on corners all the time because it's so congested hence you have a few people also zonal marking like Rashford was doing here.
