Everyone can have a poor game but the one mistake was really bad. Whenever he was close to the ball, the rest of the team shat their pants.
For those that think he's making these mistakes because he's got trouble settling in, that's not why. Even when settled he was capable of huge howlers. He gave away 2 shocking goals against Besiktas in the Champions League last season. Benfica ended up losing their 3-0 lead to drawing 3-3.
I have zero confidence in this guy, he's not good enough for us. I can almost guarantee that he won't make it here. We are wasting our time. We should put our attention towards Tuanzebe and hope Rojo and Bailly come back soon.
(In this one the goal is after the replay, he completely missed the ball with his head)
They were all played out of position, and there is a difference between a little meh and shit.

De Gea is very far away from Lindelof problems. His talent was clear during his Atletico days and most importantly he wasn't a coward.
Cowardliness isn't something you can improve over time. Not to mention his tackling and heading were a concern mentioned several times when we got him it wasn't a surprise. He was always described as a ball playing CB, not some physical defender who bullies everyone and tackle the hell out of any ball as Bailly for example.
And his terrible aerial liability is also a mental thing or what ?
He does seem a bit clumsy regarding handballs...
the video is shit but he kicked the ball against his own hand and the Dutch team got a penalty
Ofcourse, agreed. But on the other hand we arent a charity, this is Manchester United and not Lindelof United. If we were in the position to do better I think we should. Players like Manolas, Koulibaly, Tah, van Dijk would be so much better young defenders than Lindelof. And thats no hindsight.I'm not saying he'll go from shit to brilliant. But he may turn into a useful player. It's not farfetched to think that a player can improve over the course of time.
De Gea may not have been a coward, but he definitely was not up for a physical battle and he, sure, couldn't handle one. What's this about being liable in the air? Does the one mistake constitute being shit at heading or am I missing something?
I honestly don't remember him making a single tackle neither.Has he ever made a tackle in his United career? I can't remember an instance where he won the ball from someone.

Well tbf to Lindelof he's comfortable on the ball and an excellent passer so maybe he would suit Guardiola.I think he was trained in the Guardiola school of football; he doesn't know what tackles are.

Are you saying Jose got Victor without watching him play? I'm pretty sure he said he watches Portugese Leauge every matchday. Maybe I understood you wrong, but I think he wanted him.Mourinho has said before he doesnt usually specifically pick players. He's a coach who has a criteria for players he wants, others find them and complete the signings. I'm not saying he will never specifically pick a player, I dont know when he has or hasnt. But he himself has laid it out that he says what his club need, but he doesnt pick the player. So I'm seeing comments here wondering why Mourinho picked Lindelof. He probably didnt. He will have said we need a CB and what kind of qualities, experience, etc and others will have come back to him saying Lindelof is available. Maybe he picked Lindelof out of a couple of options? Maybe those other options werent any better choices. Although thats hard to believe given his pricetag. But its very unlikely that Mourinho himself chose Lindelof out of everyone and insisted we sign him. Not impossible, but doesn't align with how he has described the process.
First time you've seen him this season?

Whatever happened with "give a player time" ? Whatever happened with "Jose knows his defenders"?
Still believe he will become very good player for us. Just a feeling of mine. Or maybe I'm too old and tend to trust people more, than young people that want everything and they want it now. It does not work in real life. Well, most of the time anyway. Yes I know, he made mistakes, not the first or last player. I'll give him more time, he played, what, 5,6,7 games so far.
One thing I'm sure of, he does not deserve all the fecking hate he gets here. I wish I can read threads about Evra and Vida when they came to United, (probably nowhere near as much hate as for Victor) but too lazy to search.
Can't see any quality there tbh. As a defender he looks utterly hopeless. In my opinion, he still needs time. You can see the quality is there. Just the physicality and the quickness of the game he needs some time and experience to adjust to.

Both Evra and Vidic showed considerable ability to defend 1v1, they just were erratic and made mistakes. Lindelof hasn't shown any of that yet.Not sure why many are being so quick to write him off.
Remember how Vidic struggled. Remember how Evra struggled. Remember how Rojo struggled.
Did anyone honestly see any redeeming features in Rojo upon his arrival? Only for him to settle and improve. Hell, now we're all desperate to see him return.
It would appear Bailly taking to the Premier League like a duck to water, has lead to the assumption that all future recruits should be as equally quick to settle.
He's struggling for confidence - compounded by mistakes. Give him time.

And they would have been wrong. But Mourinho isn't infallible and Lindelof hasn't shown anything like the quality Vidic and Evra showed before they joined United. You'll find a lot of revisionism on here. There will have been undoubtedly people writing off Evra, Vidic et al.
Point being, we're all guilty of drawing conclusions too quickly. Mourinho wanted Lindelof - that it itself should be enough for many on here to reserve judgement. That's not say that Mourinho won't be proven wrong, but rather, his track record suggests Lindelof will, in time, come good.
We're not scouts, we're armchair supporters.
I feel horrible for some of the grief I have given some of our defenders in the past .He actually makes Smalling look like Beckenbauer.

We'll reach the end of the season and people will still be talking about Vidic and Evra here.
We won't. Because either Lindelof will have found his feet and his critics will have bid a hasty retreat. Or said critics will be standing proud in the knowledge that they were right about Lindelof all along.
Don't think it's too much to ask for people here to giving Lindelof a season in which to adjust.
