Veron

OK, so I'm basing my opinion of him on what I saw in an U21 match against England U21!!

fecking hell! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Joaquin is the best young right winger in the world. Has done it for several years, shone in the world cup, the business he is.

I didn't think anyone stood out in the midfield.

I noticed.

What if he had been match fit?

My only worry with Veron is his lack of durabilty. He does seem to pick up too many injuries and "colds". I just wish the guy was available every game because his vision and range of passing is unparalleled in the United squad. He is our only candidate as a true playmaker. Beckham in comparison is far more one-dimensional and isolated.
Scholes I see as the perfect foil for Veron not a direct competitor.
They are very different players really...Scholes needs to be quiet and elusive at times to find space and get on the end of things.
Veron is much more in the open. He is looking for the killer ball all the time, much more the playmaker...or that's how it should be.

Your opinion and you are entitled to it.

However, I think one must have been sort of slightly too 'tense' about the game to really notice certain things like Veron sticking in a very good performance. Maybe you were sitting too much on the edge of your seat/biting your nails a little too hard to notice the subtleties of the game?

Er, no. Nice attempt at patronising me though. I thought Keane and Butt were awful and Veron was average. Yes he was the best of the midfield but I don't think you can class his performance as very good. Maybe your standards are lower than mine.

I thought Veron was very competitive against Real. He was not obviously match fit but Fergie was right to play him.
Solskjaer took Beckham's place, not Veron. As soon as Scholes was suspended Veron was always going to play if anywhere near fit. Like Fergie said, the lad is quality.

Maybe, my standards might be lower. But, I was thoroughly satisfied with Veron on Wednesday. He played his heart out and was not lost on the pitch like a few others... Surely, surely, he was at least better (although I would want to use much better) than average... Come on, Sid! Watch the game again some time and watch only Veron, then... OK?

He was average, but at least he did tackle a couple of times. Worth a gamble though. Thoroughly outclassed by Zidane of course.

He played well considering, he wasn't match fit. If anyone thinks tackling back isn't in his nature..well he certainly did against Real(and has done in all his matches this year). He put in as much effort as anyone... sadly it wasn't enough.

Bar, Scholes, he's been our best midfielder....and deffo, our star along with Ruud in Europe. If Keane moves into defence, you'll see Seba shine...as he's done, without Roy Keane in midfield this season.

I have no doubt that he's the most talented player at OT.. Keane himself said so, after watching him in training.

Everyteam needs a playmaker....none are better than Veron, given the right platform.

PS-unlike, other stars, he's very down to earth...one of the reason why SAF bought him.

I don't agree. Zidane on form is undoubtely the best midfielder in the World, but in the the context of the match I don't think he was dominant at all.

I've always said about him, wait, give him time. I've always supported him, because you can see that he oooozes class. And Wednesday night he finally said to me "I'm a United player". He hadn't played for so long, yet he got stuck in, he worked so hard, and did things - and Casillas said that he didn't have a clue how he saved his shot early on, Casillas said that his had was just in the way.

Next season I predict that he will be phenominal. :)

Neither do I, but Neil does like to over analise things. And how the hell you can compare the two I do not know. It's as daft as saying Keane outclassed Zidane on 21/04/99. Potty in fact.

<img src="graemlins/wenger.gif" border="0" alt="[Wenger]" /> = Person who tries to compare two totally different types of player.

I'm sure that Neil would compare Zidane to Barthez if he could get away with it! <img src="graemlins/wenger.gif" border="0" alt="[Wenger]" />

Why don't more people share our view, Weaste?
 :(

As time goes on, more an more people do. You should have been here during last season. He was slated time after time after time. Not so common an event now. :)

But, I love Beckham too! And before Livvie raises an eyebrow, let me clarify... In footballing terms that is ;)

How's this thread related to Beckham? It seems you can use every chance to slate Beckham (and the people who support him) by no reason at all. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[No No]" />

For god's sake, this thread is about VERON. People like you and giggzy who want to turn any thread into a beckham slagging thread are really annoying. Leave the lad alone, he has won plenty of things for us in ten years and should deserve at least some respect from United fans.

You see I don't understand why though. Latin Americans always take a season or two to settle. Veron's best years will at United and I'm glad. :D

He's come to us into a totally different culture, both on the pitch and off it, to a place with a language he couldn't speak, had his injuries over the same time, yet has mastered most of our European performances, and finally got to grips with Premiership football, and yet he is still put up to be sold.

And after that performance he put in the other night against Madrid, where for me he finally showed he was one of us. Played with all his heart, despite it being his first match for almost two months.

He's going to have a stormer of a next season, I can see it, and with Keane being moved back, he will finally become the player we payed all that money for.

¡Viva Juan Sebastian Verón en los colores de United! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" /> </strong><hr></blockquote>
Not for the first time, I find myself in agreement with a pedantic salfordian b*stard.

;)

Veron hasn't been slated that much this season cos he hasn't played all that much. He's been good in Europe and has been ok in the EPL but I'd certainly be expecting more from a £27m rated player than he has delivered.

Well said.He is our best player in Eroupe and he must prove in the PL why he is rated at £27m.He will certainly prove that next season.

Do you expect him to come and hand the CL to us?

No but look at the difference in player we got with Ruud for £19m (and a legend) and £27m for Seba who hasn't set the world alight for us. Next season will be his 3rd season and I'd certainly be expecting him to play a lot more games and at a higher standard that we've previously seen of him otherwise what was the point in having him? in the EPl he hasn't done anything that I havn't seen Scholes or Beckham do. I just think we should expect more from him and I hope he delivers, especially with Keano slowing down.
