Don't really like the sound of any

I like him. Haven't seen enough of Lindelof or Keane to compare, but if his injury issues aren't expected to be a long-term thing, I think he'd start next to Bailly.

I'm not sold on him. That said it'd be really funny getting him ahead of Liverpool after how their fans have been talking him up. To be honest I'm not sold on any of those CBs but if there's anything to trust Mourinho on its his eye for defenders.

VVD would be the best option out of those three, but is he really worth £50m? Because that is what Southampton will be asking.

Getting close to Laporte money that.

Would be a sensational signing, he's got all the attributes to complement Bailly, excellent passing range for a centre back and dominant in the air. He makes the odd error but what centre back doesn't, if we had van Dijk and Bailly as our first choice pairing and Rojo and Blind as cover we'd be sorted for a few seasons at least.

Would really love to have van Dijk here, been a fan of him and wanted him here even back in his Celtic days. Great technique for a CB.

Would be sweet if we Dijked Liverpool for a CB.
And it would be better than another summer of "Haha. Yous bought your own player for 800m blah blah"

Yeah out of the three he'd be the best, bit worried about the cost, know SOTON would fleece us wouldn't they.

Definitely van Dijk for me but Sky are just speculating.

I mean Lindelof is the new Gaitan.

Keane is an ex-united player who had a very good season who's been linked by formerly semi-reliable journalists like Ogden and Ducker.

In my opinion Sky are just riding a 'link everyone with Man Utd' wave at the minute.

Out of the 3 he is the best option IMO.

He's very similar to Varane and we know Jose loved him.

Think Jose could turn him into a monster.

Get him.

1) Best option out of those 3
2) Hijack the dippers' top transfer target

Liverpool will probably get him. They have first dibs on Soton players

No way will they spend £50m on a CB.

Watch them huff and puff alot about VVD and then end up with some discount option from the Bundesliga for £15m.

Thought he was a lot older than 25.

Didn't he sign a 6 years contract recently?

Better than Keane, but still we should go for Laporte if he's around 40-50m pounds.

When Liverpool have finished stealing Southampton players they'll have a very good mid table side.

Regarding VVD, he's defintely a proven defender at league level, one of the best around. I wonder how he'd cope in the Champions league. I look at the Juventus defence and think of an impenetrable wall. I'd really like someone who's a seasoned pro at the best level, a player who the rest of the defence could look at and get confidence from, a central version of Valencia. Unfortunately there aren't many of them in the world. Hummels, Ramos, Bonnuci, Thiago Silva - we're not likely to sign one of those!

Quite happy with a Rojo and Bailly as first team pairing to be honest. Blind makes for very good cover so anyone brought in should be looking to compliment them and certainly not displace the top two. I'd be happy with a young player like De Ligt who would be willing to wait his oppotunity.

Laporte is not leaving Bilbao. Turned down barca last summer and signed a new contract.
Think his release clause is around 50m pounds? Depends if he want to move, Bilbao missed CL/EL spot this year so he might consider a move in the Summer.

I agree that Van Dijk is the best of the three and the more finished product. Lindelof is only 22 and this season has struggled a bit because he was moved to the centre left side of the defense to accommodate Luisão's return to the starting eleven. He's better when playng as the central defender in the right side of the defense. I think he's better than Van Dijk at coming forward with the ball from the defense but that's about it. As for Kane I don't rate him at all, I can't see what he would add to the team. It would be a pointless aquisition IMO.

I think he would be a cracking signing, but spending £50m would be crazy. I wouldn't mind if we could sell Smalling for say £25m and then get VVD for around £40m.

Would be a sensational signing, he's got all the attributes to complement Bailly, excellent passing range for a centre back and dominant in the air. He makes the odd error but what centre back doesn't, if we had van Dijk and Bailly as our first choice pairing and Rojo and Blind as cover we'd be sorted for a few seasons at least.

the problem with Rojo and Blind is that they are very good in defending.

Excellent player. Would improve our defence quite a bit, but for 60 million it's quite risky.

He's probably the best we could get. Good player. We'll regret it if we let the scousers nab him.

One thing that looks like it could complicate things is the other clubs sniffing around, Chelsea, City and Liverpool have all been name dropped regarding him. Would he pick us over all of those clubs?

Among the listed options, he's a no brainer. Significantly better than the others, and we should have the upper hand given that our wages are generally higher.

I like him but I'm skeptical if he'd be a good signing for the money. He's partial to a brain-fart or two, isn't he? If it was less than £30m I'd be happy, but don't think that is likely.
