when is the 200m?
Bolt had no case to protest. At least Chambers in the semi or Christie in the 96 Olympics could feel wrongly done by. Either way, the original rule was the best. Both of the new rules have been designed to make the sprint races more punctual and therefore more practical for TV coverage.
It's not good for the sport though, under the old regulations he(Bolt) would've had another chance...and who knows may've broken the WR again. Let's be honest, we only switched on to watch Usain Bolt. Shame.
not really - if he could convince them that the crowd hadn't settled or camera flashes set him off they could have let him stay on - it's happened before and being the main man, they'd be more likely to let him continue
Terrific run. Bolt better than everyone, as we all knew, but Dix (19.70) and Lemaitre (19.80) also with excellent times. Four under 20 seconds all and all.

Lemaitre establishes a new national record
Bolt potentially has a sub 19 or 19.0 in him with the right conditions.
Jamaica set a new world record for 4x100m.
Yeah.
Anyway, I've been watching footage of Flo Jo, she smashed every record in the book...yet no one mentions her, because she was probably on the best gear known to man. And come to think of it, I feel sorry for Ben Johnson, he won that race fair and square...his rivals were all on the juice, yet he was the one who got stung. But I like Bolt, I don't care whether he may or may not be on the juice...I suspect all athletes are.
The only issue I've got with Flo Jo's legacy is her world record in the 100m was clearly wind-assisted. Check out the footage below:
The margin of victory is phenomenal, but the wind was recorded as 0.0m/s - i.e completely still. As it stands her 10.49 record will probably last for another half-century, whereas her next best time of 10.61 is a somewhat more realistic target for other athletes.
