Usain Bolt watch

They really need to sort this out.If this happens at the Olympics the sport will take a huge hit.

Bolt had no case to protest. At least Chambers in the semi or Christie in the 96 Olympics could feel wrongly done by. Either way, the original rule was the best. Both of the new rules have been designed to make the sprint races more punctual and therefore more practical for TV coverage.

It's not good for the sport though, under the old regulations he(Bolt) would've had another chance...and who knows may've broken the WR again. Let's be honest, we only switched on to watch Usain Bolt. Shame.

Heard that this ruling was bought in because of the complaints of tv companies.Talk about crapping on your own doorstep.

Yep, the original rule was ideal - two false starts and you're out. Okay you occasionally got a couple of runners trying a flyer, but it was far less brutal than what we've got now.

Such an unfair rule - it also seems to me that if they keep this rule future world records will have to be set under different - harder - conditions than all previous records.

Bolt was presumably going for a record and knew he needed a record-breaking start in order to be on record-breaking pace throughout - will be very hard to be confident about making good starts in future when you know the price to pay for jumping the gun is disqualification...

not really - if he could convince them that the crowd hadn't settled or camera flashes set him off they could have let him stay on - it's happened before and being the main man, they'd be more likely to let him continue

So he should race by different rules to everyone else? People may not agree with all rules but everyone has to follow them it would have been a farce and a disgrace if they let him continue.

Terrific run. Bolt better than everyone, as we all knew, but Dix (19.70) and Lemaitre (19.80) also with excellent times. Four under 20 seconds all and all.

Yeah.

Anyway, I've been watching footage of Flo Jo, she smashed every record in the book...yet no one mentions her, because she was probably on the best gear known to man. And come to think of it, I feel sorry for Ben Johnson, he won that race fair and square...his rivals were all on the juice, yet he was the one who got stung. But I like Bolt, I don't care whether he may or may not be on the juice...I suspect all athletes are.

Under 20 seconds and still only silver and bronze

Bolt is simply awesome.

Bolt potentially has a sub 19 or 19.0 in him with the right conditions.

Yeah.

The only issue I've got with Flo Jo's legacy is her world record in the 100m was clearly wind-assisted. Check out the footage below:

The margin of victory is phenomenal, but the wind was recorded as 0.0m/s - i.e completely still. As it stands her 10.49 record will probably last for another half-century, whereas her next best time of 10.61 is a somewhat more realistic target for other athletes.

Just watched it. He's had an amazing year considering he was almost unknown a month ago. Should be one to watch at the Olympics next year. Might make it a four way duel in the 100m if all goes well for him.

And Usain sets the fastest time in the 100m this year.

Yeah that was outstanding. He had a terrible reaction to the gun (0.27s) and had he started normally (e.g. 0.15s) he would have been well inside Usain's record.

Yeah, it's clearly wind assisted...you can tell by the way her locks are flowing.

Bolt did a 9.76 in Rome last week. He's running tonight again against Powell in Oslo, should be interesting.

Had to laugh at Mark Lewis-Francis false starting. It's as if he's intentionally wasting his career.

Was involved in a car crash in Jamacia .But was not hurt and is resting at home.

He came second in the Jamaican trials to Yohan Blake. His start was horrible though.

I can't see him breaking his world record on current form.

The previous false start may have been playing on his mind with the start he had there.

Anybody else looking forward to the Olympics 100m.

Bolt
Powell
Blake
Gay
Gatlin
Maybe Lamaitre

That has to be one of the best sets of sprinters ever I would imagine

Bolt, Blake and Powell will be part of the same 4x100 team. Now that's scary.
